Googe - 'slow cooker" recipes MFP may even have some.

I will respectfully ask you not bringing your dog to a half marathon or any event for that matter - no matter how well behaved the dog is. It is unfair to the dog to be in that big of a crowd. It is a completely different story when you and your dog train - and there is just the two of you. With that big of a crowd the…

"on TV about a chilled head piece which stopped hair loss in 75% of the people who received chemo." - just because it was on TV doesn't mean it works. Losing hair from chemo has to do with the "work" of the chemo. You may look at the books here https://www.spokesofhope.com/books-authored-by-survivors to get inspiration. If…

Walking or running - it is your event - if other people have a problem with you walking ... it is their problem ... as a many-time half marathon finisher - I will be proud of your accomplishment when you cross the finish line!

Clearly you need to see a podiatrist. There may be something structural that need addressed because of your increased activity level @JanetYellen give some good suggestions regarding management of inflammation ... I am not sure how @Capt_Apollo feel the shoes/inserts (?orthotics) only treated the symptoms .... if you want…

Well said @ socioseguro. All of these are using different algorhythms and therefore inacurrate - doesn't matter if it the treadmill - MFP - fitbit or whatever. My suggestion is - use one device and know it is only for guidance.

You may want to consider using a more natural sweetener like Stevia instead of processed sugar.

Side effects known are headache, dizziness, change in mood, vomiting or nausea, abdominal pain and cramps, change in vision, diarrhea, seizures/convulsions, memory loss, and fatigue. There has been some concerns about aspartame and cancer. From something I read on NCI (national cancer institute) the jury is still out.

I suggest you start by logging your food so you can actually get an idea of what you eat. What you may need to do is measure the food to have an idea what you eat and then you can find where you can cut down calories.

GNC is one of the more expensive places to shop. If you go to the store to buy - look at the labels - most protein powders have a lot of fillers.

I am a bigger fan of the add on concept. I have used apps in the past, but they use the battery power like there is no tomorrow and they are not as accurate as the gps based HRM. I am a Garmin user - and recently I came across a $99 refurbished forerunner 210. You download it to their garmin connect website for analysis…

No matter what you subscribe to - as the Ironman champion Chris 'macca' McCormack says "you are the CEO of your one person company". There are free challenges out there you may want to consider - if you have mapmyfitness/mapmyrun/bike on your smartphone, they have challenges you can participate in for free all the time.

Congratulations to both first timers. Well done!!! Time to set the next goal - another 10k? a 10 miler?

not quite. There are some flaws with those as well.

totally agree! To do it as accurate as you would like will almost make it impossible. Besides it is not necessarily the tracker (database) but the person who tracks who need to be accurate. All the databases (MFP, Sparkpeople, Heart rate monitors etc) will use an algorithm - they are slightly different and therefore there…

Just picked up "Keto Clarity" by Jimmy Moore. If you are into podcasts I can recommend "The Ask Prof Noakes podcast" and "Livin la vida low carb' with Jimmy Moore.

too long to bike. Plus, I cover two sites - can't bike between them.

Low calorie breakfast may not be in your best interest. Porridge has a lot of carbs. - You may want to consider Greek yoghurt with some nuts and seeds and a 1/4 cup of berries. Incidentally my breakfast this am was a cup of greek yoghurt, half cup blueberries, and half cup of walnuts ...

When I look at what people have for breakfast I am reminded of a book called "Suicide by Sugar - a startling look at our #1 national addiction" by the sports nutritionist Nancy Appleton.

The answer is yes! :)

"I would suggest a couple of appointments with a very good nutritionist who can guide you through this process in a healthy way." The problem with nutritionist is - they often think conventional wisdom, and that is not what a low carb diet is all about. I would be very selective. Something to think about is using aerobic…

It is an interesting concept that for some may be controversial I listen to a podcast this morning (ask ask prof noakes) professor Timothy Noakes who is an authority on low carb high fat diet. He recommends between 50-150 grams/day. Yes, you can go down to -zero- but that is not for everyone. Another resource is the book…
