Super unhelpful reply, but how do you get your body fat measured? Calipers or do you actually get one of those pods to measure it? I'm looking to get myself measured. Back to the question, Have you looked into LeanGains at all? He seems to help a lot of people get into lower body fat %'s. I started 3 weeks ago and like it…

I don't smoke and never have. Would also never date someone who did. With that said, your comments have been incredibly ignorant. Everyone has lived under different circumstances. Many people have lived around smokers their entire lives (parents) and many haven't had the education about smoking that many of us have. Some…

How classy....

Non-smoker here, but am in somewhat agreement with those who say it's over-the-top. For decades, smoking was allowed everywhere. Everyone smoked and you couldn't go to a restaurant or bar without it being filled with smoke. People smoked in cars, at work, inside the home, etc. Even as a non-smoker, or child, you were…

Though I have no doubt I can defend myself if the need arises, I've never really been close to getting into a fight so it's not really motivation for me and doesn't generally cross my mind. Just being stronger, faster and better looking are more motivation than being able to kick someone's *kitten*. As someone said though,…

Personally, I generally don't use recipes for the crock-pot very much. I use a roast and throw in vegetables that a bunch of veggies I have in hand. Basically, it's meat, veggies, spices, oil, acidic liquid (vinegar-y stuff). It's always very tasty. Making recipes in it is fun, too (and usually a little tastier), but don't…

Could he not go vacation somewhere where it's legal and just get it done? Personally, I don't think anyone should have the right to decide how one should live his/her life. If one wants to end his/her life and has the mental capacity to make that decision, nobody should be able to tell them otherwise. Why on earth do we…

It's up to you - I've read studies that people who weigh themselves every day lose more weight than those who weigh once a week who lose more than those who don't weigh themselves. If you go for more regular weigh-ins (I weigh at least once a day), you do have to not let it get to you too much and know your body fluctuates…

I've been on it 2+ years and have seen improvements and the last two dentist visits went very well too. Usually they get on me for not flossing and comment on my gums but they were very positive the last couple times I went.

I don't make it a point to eat back my calories. If I find I'm hungry for them, I'll eat but I don't force myself to eat them back. I've had incredibly active days where I've netted negative calories, but I wasn't hungry.

In my opinion, you just have to ignore what everyone is saying and just do your thing! People will always criticize ('oh you're too skinny', 'oh you should be stronger', 'oh you should/shouldn't eat this or that', etc etc etc.). Definitely frustrating and aggravating, but people like to give their opinions when they're not…

Awesome! Seems a lot of us have had a terrible day today! This definitely helped!

BOOZE!! hahaha. I'm going to try it in the fall when cottage and patio season is over. Until then, no chance I could do it.

I'd guess most people have it in the back of their minds every once in a while. To me, what keeps me going is wanting to be strong and healthy while I grow old. I want to be an example for my (future) kids and I want to be able to play sports with them and keep up with them in the future. I have some health issues that run…

To me, it sounds like he knows what you're doing is healthy and it makes him feel like crap a bit that he's not really doing the same. It's like every time you do healthy things around him (eat vegetables, head out to the gym, etc) it's a reminder to him that he should probably be doing the same. So, instead of joining you…

That's surprising you haven't received more comments than you have considering how drastic the change has been size (8-10 to 3-4). However, some people just are less comfortable talking about weight to other people. For some reason, I'm always nervous asking someone if they lost weight or telling them they look really good…

Awesome! Congratulations! Must be a great feeling!! I'm hoping to get there in the next month or so. Haven't been in Onederland since I was a junior in high school (though I've been to like ~201-202 a couple times).

This is an older one of me. It's not quite an 'after' but moreso a 'during'. I maintained around that weight for a while, slowly went up. I started lifting weights and putting on some muscle and now I'm cutting down on fat again and will have another progress shot soon enough.

Welcome! Ya, no need to drop your calories. You'll probably find that it'll be easier to stay under your calorie goal because you'll be much more satisfied with your meals. You'll probably aslo need to snack a lot less. Those macros sounds great. Mine are 50/35/15, but play around and see what works best for you!
-
Ya - I should learn to stay away, haha. I always get so worked up on those stupid threads! It's frustrating though because some people who could really benefit get discouraged of even trying.
-
Ya - I think the secret is to not look too far ahead. It's great to have a goal in mind, but it shouldn't just be about the destination. Personally, I've learned to love the journey. I enjoy my working out, my eating well, my discussions with people on here. I've learned to love reading studies about nutirition and health.…

I actually have counted calories diligently for Paleo vs the Eat Clean Diet, and I can confidently say that for me, I lose much more easily with Paleo, at the same calorie amount. My wife was the same - whether she was eating 1200 calories, 1400 calories, or 1800 calories on the eat-clean diet she could not get the weight…

Curious to know which of those 3 you'd consider 'good for you', so much that you would 'vigorously' disagree with the poster. All 3 of those are crap. That's not to say you can't be healthy and still eat them, but you're deluding yourself if you think those are good for you.

My wife and I have been doing it for 2 years - we won't go back. I know many others who've done it, love it, and have achieved great results. I'm betting most people commenting on it haven't tried it for more than a week. I've done the Eat Clean Diet for over a year prior to this. Th Eat Clean Diet is basically word for…

Any way of starting some kind of physical activity during lunch times? Not sure how large your group is, but a little pick-up games of football are fun (or even just playing catch). If you can do something competitive and active that he'd be interested in, that would get him moving a bit. It's been my experience that when…

I think the reason low-carb proponents are so vocal about this is because many of us have literally tried everything and followed every diet guideline provided to us by the government and were unsuccessful - then we discovered this lifestyle and it has changed our lives around. Prior to going Paleo, I had been doing the…

As SweetX said, a lot has to do on how carb-dependant your body is. I had cut out all processed foods for a year before Primal so my carb-flu was quite mild.

I use my scale (it has a BF reading). I know that it's significantly off on the actual number, but I think it's fairly accurate in being able to tell me if my bf is dropping, maintaining, or rising. I would love to get get an actual test done (I had a trainer do it for me but I don't believe his numbers - he said 12%, my…

I've never done acorn but try to do spaghetti squash every once in a while when I think of it. As others have said, it's really easy to make. Also, I've made it with spaghetti sauce a few times and really love it - not even kidding, I prefer the taste to noodles. The one thing is it doesn't soak up sauce very well, so I…
