Good to hear you're down! Curiosity will be killing me, but I'm going to put my scale away. Maybe take the batteries out to make it even tougher! haha

Haha, yup! I know the feeling all too well! Booze will definitely be difficult for me. Luckily I love club soda. To the OP, put a little bit of lime in there and give it a real try (2-3 glasses). I used to hate it and now it's really my only saving grace haha.

I'm not going to track or look at the scale. I really like the idea of getting away from that and just getting in tune with what your body needs. I feel that it's going to be liberating to not worry about any of that and just focus on my food. I don't want to live the rest of my life logging my food and stepping on the…

My wife and I are both doing our first starting tomorrow!! Been primal for about 3 years now, but have always left some cheats in here and there. Dropping dairy will also be tough for us! (Booze too! haha)

I've definitely experienced the fishy taste. I find canola oil gives it that taste. Sticking with olive oil (or coconut oil - which is a little tougher since it doesn't spray) would likely be your best best.

Great to hear you've figured it out! My wife and I are starting our first Whole30 tomorrow! I'm excited for it! :)

Braised leeks - they are soooo good. http://www.seriouseats.com/2011/11/the-food-lab-thanksgiving-special-braised-leeks-with-parsley-and-lemon.html They're super easy to make too!

I suggest trying soda water instead of plain old flat-water. Squeeze a bit of lemon/lime in it, or drop in some frozen berries, for a bit of extra taste and it's quite good. Will probably take a few times to get used to flavorless soda, but I'm hooked (I used to think it was nasty).

Yup, I prefer it that way as well. I try and do a 16-hour IF, so I put mine with time slots. (Before noon, 12-4,4-8, After eight). I try to keep my food between noon and 8.

Can't see your diary - Is it possible you haven't been eating enough fat?
-
Feel free to add me. I'm 3 years Paleo, but I'm still not perfect with it. :) (Had a potluck today at work and cheated - didn't want to make my team feel bad - so if you're checking my diary it won't look good today!)

Alright, this is my first post in here. I'm back to lifting after 3 months off. Hoping to keep it going for a while this time. I'm currently at: Bench - 190lbs Squats - 240lbs Deadlift - 265lbs OHP - 115lbs Chin ups - 5x5, no extra weight.

Congrats! Those are great results!!

Great work! Keep it up! For sweets, I find that avoiding them altogether is the best way to avoid the cravings. Stick with veggies as snacks. Eggs are great too, and nuts are good, in moderation. If you must have something sweet, we often treat ourselves to some dark chocolate. Berries and other fruit can be great too. I…

This is why I stopped tracking my food altogether. I figure I'll stick to eating healthy and just focus on that for now and see where it takes me. Personally, when I did track, I usually aimed from 35p/15c/50f. On good days, I was usually very close to that. As someone said, they're guidelines. Do what works for you.

I'm a creamy dressing kinda guy. I usually make some mayo (very easy), and then mix that with some apple cider vinegar and various spices depending on my mood.
-
I'm still in my first week of drinking it black. It's getting better every day, haha. I'm sure by next week, it'll be good again! :)
-
You've got bronchitis?? Ain't nobody got time for that! Ya, I'd take a break from the working out. Let your body focus on the bronchitis.

OMG, looks too good. Will definitely try. Wish I hadn't seen this so early in the morning - I still have another 2 hours before I can eat.

Besides sex (obviously), I love sports. Play volleyball, ice and ball hockey, curling (not much of a workout though). Squash is great too. I love playing and getting a workout at the same time.

How deep is deep? Is it possible to go too low? I go at or just below parallel and have not had issues. As others have said, start light, ensure your form is good, and work your way up and you *shouldn't* have issues.

Awesome! Thanks for the great links. And that's too bad to hear busylady. I guess that's a trap I'll have to avoid. I'll do what I can and hopefully see some results. If I don't get much for results after a month, I'll switch it up. Ya, as yankeedownsouth mentioned, lifting weight and eating protein but maintaining a…

They highly recommend not tracking at all. Part of the plan is to get back in touch with your body's signals. Tracking food and trying to intake certain levels of marcos or calories hinders that. I'd recommend stepping away from the food tracker for the month.

Hmmm...I should maybe look at eliminating nightshades. I've always been disappointed that going Primal hasn't gotten rid of the psorriasis (sp?) on my shins. I've seen a number of other health benefits, but that was always something I'd hoped would go away. Thanks for the tip.

But the prevailing theory states is that you can't *add* muscle without a calorie surplus, or lose fat without a deficit. So if your muscle mass and fat mass can't change at maintenance, your BF% would have to remain the same as well. You're right that strength gain could likely occur. What gets me is that if I lose at a…
-
Correct - I had that in my original post but changed it to 'general rule'. From what I understand, as you've stated, beginners for the first month or so can gain muscle and lose fat simulatenously. (Is it longer than this?) But for someone like me who has worked out for a while, is it true that my body composition would…
-
Ya, if you're at a deficit, you definitely won't be getting those gains. The average person won't get those types of gains even at a large surplus. I'm guessing there's some muscle-memory at work there. Not to take anything away from the achievement, that's very impressive. I just don't think people should be expecting…

Yup - this.

I haven't had a soda, that wasn't in a mixed drink, in probably 3 years now. Have you given sparkling water a fair try? My wife (then-gf) introduced me to it. I thought it was ridiculous at first but now I drink more than a liter of the stuff every day (even bought ourselves a Sodastream to make it ourselves). I've also…
