  • I did find it hard until I started being more strict with my food choices and focusing on healthy, whole foods and lots of fruits, veggies, and protein. Once I started focusing on eating healthier (I had gotten lazy and was eating some junk), it was easier to cut the calories b/c volume wise I eat more food when I make…
  • I'd be interested!
  • I could use more friends too, feel free to add me!
  • Hi, feel free to add me, I'm pretty much maintaining but still try to log my food every day and participate :-)
  • I haven't ever been made fun of at the gym (prior to weight loss). I think that I felt very awkward and self conscious at first, but then you just have to focus on why you're there and bettering yourself and just don't think about the other people even being there at all. I felt the same way when I started running outside,…
  • I try to eat some high protein (or sometimes, high fiber) snacks and drink some extra water and that seems to help. But with any kind of intense activity, I find that I am hungrier.
  • No. For me, I rarely wear makeup anyway, but when I go to the gym I'm there to work out and have absolutely zero interest in how I look, so I would never apply makeup to go to the gym. I'm focused on running or lifting weights or whatever other exercise I'm doing and don't notice other people at all.
  • Yay!!! Great job, you look amazing :-)

  • Doesn't work for me, that's for sure! I did start out around 1200 calories and worked my way up to 1400, then 1600, then 1800 for maintenance (but that's net, so on an average day my total calories burned is around 2200, so I actually eat around 2000 calories or more daily, typically). Anyway, yes, my goals were to keep…
  • I use the Exerspy daily and love it, however it's essentially the same thing as a BodyMedia Fit, which a friend of mine has. Both are made by BodyMedia and are extremely reliable and provide accurate data. I've had great success with mine. The only things that I'd prefer by having a BodyMedia Fit Link armband is that it…
  • Yeah, I was asked to take mine off and put it through the xray. Otherwise, it was totally fine.
  • Quick weight loss, you mean? I lost the bulk of my 80-lb loss over a 1 year period (the last 10-15 lbs came off way slow) and lost well over 20 lbs of LBM. I try to eat 1 g of protein per lb of LBM. What do you know now that you would change?
  • That is crazy amazing!!! I hope I can get there someday. How long did that take to cut your times that much? Did you do interval training?
  • I'm 5'6", 150 lbs. I'm eating around 2,200 calories/day (baseline 1570 plus exercise cals) and am set at 1/2 lb of weight loss per week (though, my goal at this point is to maintain). When I was losing, I ate 1400 net (usually around 2,000 after exercise cals) and lost a consistent 1-2 lbs per week.
  • I go to the Farmington Canal trail sometimes, I love it! There's one much closer to my house that's the Derby Shelton Greenway (aka Riverwalk). I often go there to run, but plenty of people bike it as well. Here's a list of greenways in CT! http://www.ct.gov/dep/cwp/view.asp?A=2707&Q=323852
  • I did the Warrior dash in June and am doing the one in September as well! It was such a blast! I thought that it was challenging but a lot of fun! I'm all signed up for the Tough Mudder in New Jersey this October, hopefully I'll be ready! Basically, train your upper body. There's a lot of upper body strength involved in…
  • It was so fun!! :-) And it made for a very colorful shower afterwards - the blue just wouldn't come off ;-)
  • I did the Fairfield half marathon! It was my first half and I loved it! Such a supportive crowd and great music along the way! It was a hot day, but they had lots of hoses and sprinklers to cool you off! Next mission: full marathon. Maybe sometime next year, as it took me months to train up to the half. I just started…

  • Thank you!!!! :-)
  • Haha yeah I know! It's tough when you're trying to lose weight too. My ultimate goal is 20% BF, but I keep losing LBM as well as fat :-(. I think you're doing great!
  • Probably, yes. I started around 235, but the first recorded BF % for me was at 200 lbs at 32.4% 32.4% BF at 200 is 64.8 lbs of fat and 135.2 LBM 23.4% BF at 150 is 35.1 lbs of fat and 114.9 LBM I did a lot of strength training for the past year, but also did a ton of cardio (ran my first half marathon in June). I also…
  • Eat some protein, girl! Personally, I don't eat meat, so I focus on greek yogurt, cottage cheese, tofu, nuts, peanut butter, etc. but really it's very important to have a balanced diet (in my opinion, including veggies, fruit, protein, carbs).
  • I ran my first one in 38:55 in October 2011, my best official has been 28:34 last month.
  • I did this one! It was a blast, but way, way muddy (to the point where it was hard to run)!!
  • I think that's a reasonable amount of time for a Warrior Dash, especially if you've been running or jogging at all. My boyfriend is doing Couch to 5K to get up to running 5K before the event, and if you're able to do a fair amount (say, 10) pushups, sit-ups, and (even assisted) pull-ups, you'll be just fine.
  • Me too! I did a Warrior Dash in June and it was very, very fun by my body was sore for a few days after lol. I had no problems doing any of the obstacles, it was challenging but not impossible. You get SO dirty, bring a garbage bag, baby wipes, and a change of clothes and shoes! And you can totally rinse off and throw your…
  • Start slow. Walk at first, then add some higher intensity cardio (running, biking, whatever you want) and strength training. The best thing I did was get a personal trainer. I now run and lift weights several times a week, and do krav maga 3-4 times per week. Best advice is to find an activity you like and preferably find…
  • I want to get down to 20% body fat (22% now), do unassisted pull-ups (can do 10 with 50lb assist now), and run a marathon (ran my first half in June, want to start training for a full)!!!
  • How to survive a vacation: 1) Log and measure! 2) Exercise - if you have a laptop maybe you can do 30 day shred in your bedroom? Do active things, like walking daily or, depending on where you're going, maybe swimming or other active things with your kids. 3) Make conscious choices - it's OK to indulge a little, but plan…
