  • Can you go on your way home from work? I find that if I go home and sit down, there's no chance I'm getting my bit butt off the couch to go to the gym.
  • Hi! I took a quick look at your diary, and you're probably still hungry because your protein intake is super low. Ideally you should get one gram of protein per pound of your goal weight (so for me, my goal weight is 125lbs, I aim to take 125 g protein daily). There are some days where you have less than 20 grams! Your…
  • I glanced at your diary, and have a few thoughts: (1) You are consistently way over on carbs, and way under on protein. You should aim to hit those macros, and being over on protein is okay, but I would limit your carbs a little better. (2) You seem to eat fast food, a lot. That food is jam packed with sodium, which is…
  • Yes, you need to get to 1200, and probably more on days where you exercise. Your body needs fuel to function, and depriving it of fuel is not going to help you in the long run!
  • It really comes down to time management. Figure out exactly what you need to get done for the day, and plan when you're going to do it. I'm in grad school and working full time, so I feel your pain! I am a master of to-do lists!
  • Dear Coworker: Get your head out of your butt and stop being so self-centered. I know I had New Years plans, but would it have killed you to offer me an invitation to the party you invited everyone in our snotty little pod to? And while you're at it, why don't you stop talking about your party in front of me, all day. It…
  • All the previous posts are awesome. and I'd just like to add-- monitor how much cholestrol you're actually intaking. MFP sets your daily limit as 300mg...there's over 400mg in 2 eggs alone. So, just be aware of where it's coming from and work on lowering it from there. Also, as an aside...don't get offended if people don't…
  • I work full-time and am in grad school.... so basically I have zero time to myself. I try to walk everywhere instead of using public transit or driving, but other than that, I have very few ideas! I'm lucky if I have half an hour to myself, let alone enough time to get to the gym!
  • The middle of the winter here in Virginia, USA! Luckily the real cold hasn't hit yet... although, I haven't seen the sun in days.. FatBuster -- I love your photo! Niagara Falls is one of my favorite vacation spots!
  • I've been with MFP for about 8 months, and had great success. I started after going on a cruise that pushed me to my highest weight, and I finally got so fed up with myself. I found the app on my phone, then found the website, and it's been going strong ever since. I've definitely had some lapses where I don't log, or…
  • I would stay at the 1650 for the time being if that's what MFP set you at. You should still aim to lose 1-2 pounds per week because it makes it easier to keep the weight off when you lose slowly and consistently rather than in big chunks. That being said, you lose more in the beginning and you lose it quicker. And because…
  • I've seen people wrap a giant box with a bunch of littler boxes inside with the last one actually having the money/gift card inside of it. It was kinda cool, definitely throws them off when there's a HUGE box with their names on it!
  • Name: Abbie Gender: Female Age: 24 Lives in: Arlington, Virginia (DC Suburbs) Want to lose: Original goal was 50 pounds, and I'm hovering between 30-35 pounds lost. I think ultimately I'd go for 55-60, but no more than that. Fave movies: Life as a House, Europa Europa, Happy Feet, Little Women Fave books: A Tale of Two…
  • Hello! I'm getting married in March 2013, so still a ways to go, but would love to support you as you shed those pounds before your big day!
  • Clem gave some fantastic advice. She's 100% right. Recognize that you messed up, and get back on track immediately. There's always tomorrow, but now is a better time to make the change! Everyone messes up, and if they tell you they don't, they're lying. No one is perfect. The trick is to try to be as perfect as possible,…
  • Welcome back! I'm glad you made the decision to start again; family emergencies can be so tough, but it's great that it just sidetracked you for a bit, not completely knocked you off the horse! Feel free to add me as a friend!
  • Welcome to MFP! I admire you for stepping up to take care of yourself while also devoting yourself to your children! Best of luck to you, and feel free to add me as a friend if you'd like!
  • Hi Kristi, and welcome to MFP! The support you will receive here is incredible; everyone is pushing for you to succeed. Remember to eat within your calorie limits and exercise, and you will have no trouble shedding the pounds. Feel free to add me as a friend if you'd like some support!
  • It's mostly water weight. After your body gets adjusted to the new eating habits, you'll even out at a 1-2 pound a week loss. But congrats on the 10 pounds, even if it was mostly water!
  • March 16, 2013! <3 Arm flab and belly fat did not make the guest list, so I'm working on it already! :)
  • Sodium. If you eat a lot of it, you'll retain the water. The high end of the daily allowance is 2,500mg, but you really should aim for 1,500mg or less each day. You can also retain water during periods of intense workout (muscles will retain water to help in the rebuilding process) or in the week before (and sometimes…
  • Your best bet is probably to follow the flowcharts in the instruction book. Sorry.
  • Agree with all of this...especially with the caps part.
  • Hey needlework, get back on the wagon! C'mon, you can do it! When you lose the weight, you will CRAVE the gym, and you will love the healthy food! You will have more energy, you will be around a lot longer to enjoy every blessed minute of your life, you will see little kids grow up, and you will age more beautifully. You…
  • Here's the thing. I saw McDonalds ice cream in your diary at least 3 days in a row. That's giving you 300 calories, and none of them are good for you. There is no way you're coming close to your macros and it looks like you're very, very low in protein. I recommend tracking your carbs, fat, and protein and trying to at…
  • 1200 is a WHO standard for the absolute minimum a woman should eat in a day. If you go lower than that, you are putting yourself at risk for malnutrition, and you could also create a plateau for yourself since your body may hold on to the fat because it doesn't know when it will be fed again. Bottom line, EAT MORE.
  • Just eat a portion of whatever you want. Half a Hershey bar isn't awful if you really, really want chocolate.
  • Welcome, and good luck! Feel free to add me as a friend if you want some extra support!
