Drink lots of water. If you have been taking any kind of medicine it can cause water retention.

Your story is very similar to mine. I started my journey at 269. I have worked very hard for two years to lose 55 lbs. Yes I said two years. It has been life changing. The journey is so much more amazing than the actual weight loss. You can add me as your friend if you would like. Here are some suggestions that worked for…

If you talk to most people they would rather be a certain size clothing than to weigh a certain amount. Noone else sees your weight on the scale, but they do see you in your clothes. So I would much rather judge my progress in clothing sizes than with pounds on the scale. SCREW THE SCALE!!!!

I love when my mom calls me skinny. She sees where I was and just how far I come and I am not even close to my goal yet. As far as BMI it does not factor in a persons muscle mass, family history, or bone structure. I talked with my doctor about BMI and he said this is just a range. It is an average, but some people will be…

I have been one of the slow losers. I think for some people the weight does not magically fall off like for others. It takes time to lose the weight physically and mentally. When you are very overweight there might be a physical reason like slow thyroid, or no exercise, but 90% of what got you to the weight in the first…

Does your dorm have stairs? If they do doing a stair workout can be a great alternative to going to the gym.

I would suggest walking, stationary bike, and the best exercise is swimming, Swimming is the only no impact exercise. I know the thought if putting on a bathing suit is scary, but who cares what others think you are making the change for yourself not them.

I wish this was a unique case, but I am seeing more and more kids that are obese. It is scary to think where many of the kids I see will be in 10 years time. I do think the parents have to take responsibility for their kids health. but I also think the schools really need to step up and teach healthy habits as well. I hope…

I feel that way a lot. For me it is the realization that I am smaller and accepting change is hard. You might find that you are not even a 14, but a 12. The first time I was able to shop the misses section instead of the plus size I had a break down in the dressing room. I was very happy, but also overcome with so much…

I am here because I have to look great for my 20th HS reunion in a couple of months.

We have all been there. If you worked out really hard yesterday your muscles could be holding onto water. I was weighing myself everyday when I started and then I realized I was becoming neurotic about the scale so now I only weigh in once a week. The scale is not the most important thing. It is just one way to reaffirm…

I think the scale is evil some weeks and others it is your friend. You could be doing everything right and still gain or only lose a .5 on it. Then there are weeks when you probably could have done more and the scale chooses that week to let you lose two pounds. One thing I would check is water and sodium once I up my…

Don't get discouraged when the weight comes off in smaller chunks. It takes awhile when you are taking meds for the Thyroid. Also make sure you are getting all your water in. It makes a huge difference. I also have insulin resistance which a lot of hypothyroid people have. I try to balance a carb with a protein so that my…

I have two embarrassing moments. The first is when my shorts split all the way down the back when I was doing a squat. The second was when I tried to do something really stupid with the elastic bands and I slung myself back into one the exercise bikes and broke my wrist.

My goals are some what simple. I reward myself for the small things like I hate tracking everyday, but I pay myself to do it. I put a dollar in a jar for each day I track and then when I hit 30 days I get to have a pedicure. If I get to 60 days then I find a groupon for a facial or massage. I might do the same for a new…

I make a 3 egg white scramble with 1/4 cup of black beans, scalions, mushrooms, tomatoes, and a tablespoon of Taco Sauce. It is very filling and has about 200 calories

I am 5'7' and currently weigh 216. I am very muscular so my ultimate weight would be 175. If I go below that great, but that is my target. I started at 269 so 175 looks pretty darn good to me. My next goal is 215 so that is just right around the corner.

If this holiday is on beach spend lots of time walking the beach and in the waves. Look for other activities like volleyball or pool basketball that are fun and burn calories. Look for ways to explore the area you are going to like a walking tour. Allow yourself one treat a day so that you don't feel like you are being…

Dole now makes all of their fruit cups with juice instead of syrup. You can also look at Motts Healthy Harvet No Sugar Added Applesauces that come in lots of flavors. Some even have added fiber

Well I would have to say that you need to know your body. I for one have insulin resistance and the pounds don't melt away like other people. It takes me more work to get the weight off. I have lost 50lbs over a two year span. Who cares how long it takes as long as you are making the changes to keep it off. I used to beat…

I started out at 269 lbs and I am now at 221. I still have 50 more to go be at the goal I have set for myself. How I motivate myself is I committ to a race of some sort that is about 6 months away. Last year I did a triathlon. This year I am doing two triathlons and a duathlon. I pay for the race and then I have a carrot…
