  • As many others have said, I have a 24oz cycling bottle that I just use. It makes it much easier than a massive 2 litre bottle, which always seems a daunting prospectr to drink whenever you look at it. Somehow dividing it up into 3 servings really helps me make my hydration goals each day.
  • A non scale victory. Basically something other than your weight on the scales making you realise you're doing well and making changes. Compliments, fitting in old jeans and soggy books all count :)
  • Don't panic. I assume it was a treat as opposed to a daily thing, you won't wake up with all your lost weight back on. Just try and be a little more under your allowance the next couple of days or have a good session or two exercising. A treat now and then isn't the end of the world, so long as it's just that; a treat.
  • Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that excess protein is just gotten rid of by the body? I don't think it gets stored anywhere.
  • New here too, seems like a nice place, everyone's really helpful! In Hampshire UK, you can add me if you like.
  • Is there a stride length setting on the HRM? Maybe that's set wrong?
  • This is true. I think the reason it was worth 50% of the calories is because vegetables and lentils barely carry any calories at all anyway. I don't think you need to find an alternative really (unless you drink the stuff!) Otherwise you could try that LowCal stuff? The spray oil that's something like 1cal per spray or…
  • I was under the impression that tea is non diuretic unless it contains higher levels of caffeine (the diuretic ingredient if you will) I think if the tea has under 300mg of caffeine it's considered a non diuretic fluid... but then this is the internet we're talking about. There's a billion different opinions on every…
  • How come tea doesn't count? Surely it's at least 95% water even with a splash of milk? Oh... by that I don't mean counting 8 mugs of tea as your sole water supply for the day!! I know what you mean about cups and being from the UK, makes no sense!! Though I'm lucky as my cycling water bottle holds exactly 24oz, or 3…
  • I'm pretty sure any protein not used by the body just gets through your digestive system and out as opposed to stored anywhere.
  • Do you wear the armband all day even when not exercising? If so I'd guess that 3200 - 3400 is your Base Metabolic rate. This is the amount of calories your body burns just to keep going (ie: pumping the heart, moving the lungs, producing hormones etc etc) Basically, what MFP is telling you is the amount by which you should…
  • Coming from a male perspective (ie not painting nails etc) I'd like to look half decent in a fitted t-shirt. I also have a cycling top that I currently look like a marshmallow in. I'd like to look like I fill it with muscle and not fudge. I also have these really annoying lines across my stomach where I 'roll'; urgh even…
  • You can make a good pizza with it. If I remember right, you can use a pitta flat bread as the base, either chopped tomatos or tomato puree on the bread (or pesto), then layer with rocket salad, halved cherry tomatos and goats cheese and stick under the grill for 5-6 minutes. If you prefer you can add the rocket after - hot…
  • Make sure you warm down, it's as important as the warm up. Generally in my case I'd cycle gently for 10 or minutes heading out, do my proper exercise, then have a slow ride home. It makes a big difference. Also, make sure you stay well hydrated before and during exercise, it'll help shift the lactic acid build up and lend…
  • Cheers guys! Feeling very welcome already :) Oh and can I just say; the people that are brave enough to post progress pics - hat off to you! I don't think I'd ever do that, even once I'd reached my goal!!
