Looks like our county has snuck on an "additional" list beyond the one the state published, and it also includes "overweight." Even more oddly, my provider sent a personal invitation to sign up for one of their vaccine clinics this weekend (ie, can't sign my husband up, even though he has the same provider), so I am…

Do you have hypertension or a family history of same?

It depends on why I don't want to exercise. If I just don't, I set out for at least ten minutes. As someone above mentioned, I usually keep going once I get into motion. If something hurts, I look for an alternative that will get some movement in, without stressing the muscle or joint that is giving me issues.

I would add - good food choices that add up to an overall healthy diet AND HELP YOU FEEL SATISFIED. That can be slightly different for everyone, but the things that generally help are proteins, fats and fiber. It is just a question of what combination of those actually works best for you.

Well, when I originally answered, I had assumed I would be in the general population group due to our local guidelines declaring that I am not fat enough or sick enough. However, I received a message from my provider yesterday and am now getting a "one and done" J&J shot tomorrow, even though the "young but fat and sick"…

-I keep a daily self care journal, so that I remember how to take care of myself without gorging on french fries and cake and so that I put my feelings into writing, rather than trying to eat them -I practice yoga and meditation to try to calm my crazy mind -I eat up to current maintenance once in awhile. I try to plan…

Nintendo Switch games (Just Dance and certain Ring Fit mini games) as chair aerobics to give my aching legs a rest.

You have already put too much thought into this. Stop by Target or go on Amazon and glance at the reviews to make sure that it doesn't die after a week. There just isn't much difference in scales from brand to brand.

I get this, my husband isn't too far off. Except in our case, he gets antsy if he doesn't have his default breakfast and lunch, I am just responsible for making sure the ingredients are available and getting most dinners on the table. If he does finish everything off before the next shopping day, he needs a lot of hand…

One option would be to check your local vaccination site for same day appointments. That way, you are keeping a dose from going to waste, rather than actually taking it from someone else. If we were going by deserving, I would be happy to put the ones who refused to wear masks at the end of the line, but we are going for…

I will also point out that a week doesn't tell you much. If you are eating more fruit and veg, you are getting more fiber, which can lead to more bulk in your gut while you adjust to the change. There are so many reasons weight can go up and down a pound or two or five here and there that have nothing to do with your fat…

BMI is associated with mortality with COVID although I was unaware that there were any states using the overweight category, vs obese. My state is opening up to BMI >40 this weekend, as well as some other health conditions, most in uncontrolled state (lung disease must be oxygen dependent). Then, there won't be another…

In your case, you really need to look to a dietician, perhaps one that specifically deals with PCOS and/or diabetes education. If I were helping you, I would up your protein, high fiber, don't be afraid of fat etc, and it doesn't sound like that will work with your IBS, especially since you have to limit some of the foods…

Have you tried varying the kinds of foods you eat in order to address the hunger/ satiety issue?
-
Yes, this. I can give one piece of non dietary advice: the big thing with PCOS is the insulin resistance that often accompanies it. Are you getting some kind of exercise to help with that?

She lived in China when I finished my PhD and still came to see me graduate because I hadn't walked in a graduation since high school and it was the one thing she understood about academia.

Going to see my mommy. We have never gone this long without hanging out before.

It depends on how often you are popping one in. I don't know how many calories are in a single lifesaver, but if half the roll is gone at th end of the day, that should be logged. The point of logging isn't just the calorie counting, it is increasing your awareness of what you are eating.

Really desperate? Stick a celery stick in the PB jar. Dip in flax seeds for extra fiber.

I have degenerative lumbar discs. It has been bad enough that I can't walk across the room without taking a break. Physical therapy helps. I can only do low impact exercises and I have been so careful for so long (it has been ~30 years since the first episode, 20 since an actual diagnosis, but the treatment didn't change),…

I turned around instead of going the long way around. That might not sound like a victory, but I have a tendency to push too hard too soon when I am recovering from anything. Today, I was able to say "enough."

We just put the main contender on top - the greens are just one of the veggies for the meal. This week for lunch, my husband is having his standard salad base with left over tri tip. Last week, it was rotisserie chicken. I am alternating between goat cheese and smoked salmon because I can't do the same thing every day like…

I am struggling with the cold today. It is actually relatively cold (for southern California) and it just took me 4 Just Dance songs to warm up, even with a sweatshirt and a hat on!

Last I checked, MFP doesn't actually adjust your calories based on the exercise goals that you set. Those are just there to set the reminders on whether or not you met your goals.

Start small - dedicate to 5 minutes a day this week, then ten, etc. Should you have a stroller or wheel chair for the eldest? Would that be a quality of life improvement for that child, as well as yourself? If it is a question of costs, look for local charities that might help or start a fundraiser. Choose something you…

Welcome back! One thing I am trying this time around is to keep a journal with the daily prompt of "What does self care look like today?" I also include any emotional challenges I am facing when I write. I am a very good dieter. I have had multiple dieticians be impressed with my menu when I am on point. And then, I get…

I road my bike everywhere I was allowed to go as a child, until we moved to a steep hill in the middle of nowhere when I was 11. I picked it up again when I lived in Miami. I would only use the car if I had to use a highway to get there. 2 miles to the grocery store, 4 miles to work, 9 miles to the beach. Hills were…

We had a very simple wedding (just us and our parents) and in the end I chose an ice cream cake as something simple, more or less appropriately sized and YUMMY. I am not sure I need to know that that Dairy Queen offers cupcake sized versions...

I do a lot of knee to elbow yoga poses and core exercises. I can't wait until I can actually get my knee and my elbow together consistently!
