  • Definitely has to be the water. I just started running again after a 5-week knee induced layoff; and sure enough 2-3 lbs got tacked on. I am confident it will go the other way though.
  • That gives you 8 weeks to train. I think it is easily doable. Add 10%- 15% to your distance every 2 weeks and that will get you there.
  • That's why its a "Lifestyle Change", not a Diet. Diets end, you need to continue the work that got you here!!!
  • Boy I wish I could answer that for you...then we'd both know!! I was always of the opinion it was bad to eat within 3-4 hrs of bed. Others here say a calorie is a calorie no matter when you eat it, so if you're on target it doesn't matter. To err on the side of safety I try not to.
  • My dogs always loved the yolks poured over their dry food!
  • 2500 mg is the limit most recommend. And it is difficult because there is sodium everywhere!!
  • I just went through similar. I went from running 1x daily to 2x daily, 5k each time. A couple days in and WHAM!!. My knee went out. I have had 2 surgeries in the past on it. One 25 years ago for a torn MCL and 6 years ago for torn cartilage. Just went to the Ortho today. X-rays showed no real damage. Just lots of…
  • They certainly don't offer any advantage, unless the full feeling you get from the carbonation is one. But I drink quite a bit of diet soda (1-2 a day) and it hasn't seemed to hurt my efforts.
  • This would be the same for any Cardio type workout for maximum fat burning.

  • use the following formula: 220 - your age Your heart rate should be between 65% to 85% of that number. Example 220minus age 40 = 180 180 x .85 = 153 max heart rate 180 x .65 = 117 minimum
  • Stay with leaner cuts, filet mignon etc., and portion control. A good portion is 4-6 ozs. No 16 oz porterhouses!! Also watch the marinades don't add too much sodium. They are typically loaded with it!!

  • I had great success with packaged meals. I liked the Healthy Choice line. They were balanced tasty and best of all ....portion controlled! I didn't eat them exclusively. Usually at least once a day, but many times it was lunch and dinner.
  • This has been a challenge for me also. I try to choose places where I know I can eat healthy and the kitchen is willing to accommodate. I used to starve myself trying to save all those calories for the junk I might eat, but you get so hungry you break down and go wild. I try to shift the calories I need to eat a little…
  • I often wondered myself. I found this article on Livestrong.com and it seems to answer it nicely. Overview The advancement of technology in training watches has led to the development of heart rate monitors with the ability to track calories. These watches provide a resource for tracking caloric expenditure during exercise…
  • I also miss the sweetness of certain things. I buy Sweet & Low and use it a lot. It satisfies my sweet tooth and hasn't hurt me so far in losing the weight. I put on my oatmeal, great with Chobani vanilla yogurt, add some fresh berries and put it in the freezer for an hour or until it starts to get like soft serve ice…
  • Good for you. i am being forced to take a break from working out due to a knee injury, so I am hoping for similar results!!!
  • If you haven't tried Chobani you should. It is simply the best. I like the Black Cherry & Strawberry. I also buy the non-fat Vanilla , add some sweet & low, cut up fresh strawberries, raspberries or blueberries. Absolutely delicious. I also have frozen it for an ice cream like treat.
  • Some questions I would ask : How long have you been losing weight prior and how much? You may not be losing weight because you are building muscle at the same time, but you might notice your clothes getting looser?
  • Grocery stores are a great idea, single serve pouches of tuna, salmon, salads. I buy a bottle of dressing even if I only use it that meal and have to throw it away. And I hate to say it but yes....McD's and Wendys have some decent grilled chicken salads that are fairly healthy if you choose the right dressing (These are my…
  • I'd get away from the bagel. They have a very high glycemic index causing blood sugar to spike, then fall of rapidly making you tired and hungry. Try substituting a whole grain cereal instead like some of the Bob's Red Mill products. They are wonderful. I personally like the Muesli mix. I will add some fresh cut up…
  • There's no other way to say it ....just Do it! I am not a morning person either, but I get up early and get my exercise in for the day, and then all those late day excuses can't be used! LOL I now feel worse if I don't get up and exercise. It has really changed my whole morning demeanor. Yes it was difficult DRAGGING…
  • That all depends on what your goals are. If its primarily weight loss (why most of us are here!) then you want to focus on Cardio type exercises. Running, biking etc. You should be doing nothing less than 3 days/week at Least 30 minutes of high level cardio where your heart rate is in its aerobic zone. If you can easily…
  • I was really enjoying the running!! I never thought I'd hear myself say that!!! Created by MyFitnessPal.com - Free Calorie Counter
  • C'mon people - there's only one Father-Daughter wedding song..."Daddy's Little Girl" !!!!!!!!!
  • Hang in there kiddo! Hard to tell from your picture but can you spare 13 more lbs? (was your goal realistic to begin with?) If thats a current picture, you look pretty awesome already!
