Long time, no see! Saturday - Success (what have you accomplished; focus on the positive of the week, NSV=non scale victories) Much has happened since I've been around. Mostly, I've been dealing with an injured hip that is about 85% healed now. Instead of the walks that I always enjoyed, I had to do cycling for my work…

It sounds like a Crab Bucket type of thing going on. One person does something to improve themself and the other people start trying to sabotage or mock the one who dared to do something different from the pack.
-
I like both. That said, rolled oats are easier and less messy for me.

I'm a big time emotional eater if I let myself slide back into bad habits. I prefer sweet or salty. Instead of going to eat when I feel stressed out, I do one of two things: 1) Drink 16oz of water and wait 30 minutes. If the craving is still there, I'll go for something slightly healthier. Such as a cup of honey nut…

Measuring food and logging it. Finding exercises I like to do and can do with little preparation. Finding healthier substitutes for my old junk food favorites. Such as a cup of sugar free hot cocoa instead of a candy bar when a chocolate craving hits. Most of all: be patient and consistent.

A prenatal is pretty much all you need unless you got something unusual going on. The only other thing I could think of is fish oil/other omega-3 supplements.

My desire to binge has become less frequent as time has gone on. It feels like a bit of an accomplishment to feel sated on less food than before. I've found new ways to deal with bad feelings other than burying them in food. That being said, I still get days where I want to eat everything in sight. I let myself have an…

If you're still symptomatic, I would go to your doctor and INSIST that your t3 and t4 levels be measured as well! Some people can't convert one T to the other T very well and may require taking a t3 medication (cytomel, I think) in addiction to their t4 meds (synthroid, etc).

If you don't enjoy it, begin cutting it out. Replace it with something healthy that you DO enjoy.

Herbal teas or sugar-free apple cider are my go-to hot drinks that are low calorie.

Begin logging your food, every bite. It will become a habit and therefore easier to do. Measure your food. If you have a scale, use it. If not, surely you have measuring cups? Going outside and going for a walk doesn't cost a penny. If you have a safe place to go do it, get out there and do a few blocks or laps! :)

Talk with your doctor if you're concerned. My rest HR was higher when I was heavier than I am now. ALSO! Medication can be a factor. I'm on a medication that's a mild stimulant, which raises my HR slightly.

Hoo boy... during college, I drank slim fast like a fiend. Nevermind that "dinner" often consisted of more than a day's worth of calories of chocolate or other candies. I tried restricting my food intake. Didn't work. I felt cheated, as I often tried to "eat my feelings" or soothe bad feelings away with junk food. I also…

More fruits and veggies in their natural states, if you want a dietary approach. If that isn't want you're looking for, try a fiber gummy. I know walgreen's do an okay one.

It's not all diet, hon. Genetics are a factor. My mother has horrible teeth. I have horrible teeth. Also, I was never taught how to brush or floss by my family. I had to be taught at the dental office, which was embarrassing. Growing up, it seemed like I got a new filling every other year. I needed my first root canal by…

I am far from even my half way goal, but I've noticed some good things: - I have more energy/endurance. A year and a half ago, walking 3 blocks would have worn me out. Now, I can walk multiple miles and still be raring to go when I get back home. I can even jog for part of it! - I have much less knee pain! As a result, I…

Getting off your thyroid meds without your doc's okay first is a bad idea. If the meds aren't helping you, perhaps it is time for a change in dosage or brand? Some folks do just fine on Synthroid or its generics. Others do better on Armor throid (NDT). As for what has been helping me lose weight, I've been: Exercising 5…

I am hypothyroid, too. Once your TSH/T3/T4 levels are at where both you and your doctor are happy, just make sure you have a calorie deficit, you WILL lose weight. For myself, I've being eating at or under my calorie allowance and have been doing walking and cycling for exercise. I've been moving away from processed food…

I can walk for miles with little to no discomfort, including uphill. My usual routes include at least 2 hills, so I guess I've gotten used to it. :)

I weigh daily, just before hopping into the shower. However, I only record it once per week. I gain and lose during the week, but if you look at the weekly results, I have an overall downward trend.

People go to the gym to work on themselves. Repeat that to yourself as often as you need. I was also very shy about exercising around strangers. Keep going to the gym and trying and I bet you'll find the anxiety will begin to melt away. Do you have a friend who can go to the gym with you? My mom or sister would take turns…

1. Do hand weights 3x/wk. Did day 1 yesterday, and my arms are aching in protest today. 2. Drop 10# more. Then I'll try on all the old stuff waiting in my closet and see what I keep and what I donate. 3. Add more distance on to my walking/jogging workouts.

My most recent NSV involves going clothes shopping. Normally, as a heavy girl, this is a NIGHTMARE. However, I managed to find some jeans that fit perfectly. I broke down crying happy tears in the fitting room. After that, I marched out and got a pair in black, indigo and stonewash, LOL.

An entire cheat DAY? Perhaps change it to a single cheat meal per week in the future? Otherwise, just log it and move on. Beating yourself over what happened in the past isn't constructive. Focus on building healthier habits, but realize we're all only human will inevitably mess up now and then.

A couple days before I start, I typically put on 2 or 3 pounds. They all come back off a couple days after it's done. Also, water retention can be a factor. I weigh myself first thing in the mornings before jumping in the shower.

I weigh myself daily, but only log it once per week. I know various things can affect it, beyond what I've eaten or drank (monthly cycle, etc).

I want to lose 150 lbs total, I'm 25lbs closer to my goal.

I've noticed that I've been passing on junk food in favor of things that "cost" fewer calories and leave me feeling fuller. For example, an orange instead of 1 serving of pringles, or carrots and hummus instead of a couple of pre-packaged cookies from the shop. That being said, I still enjoy the foods I like if I have the…

I'd been losing and gaining the same 5 pounds until I forced myself to log EVERY bite. Now I only seem to creep up by about 3 pounds during "that time of month" and typically get back to the weight I was before within a couple days of it finishing. Perhaps part of it is hormones, in your case?
