If the old clothes are in good shape, by all means, donate them! I'm gearing up to do that myself, as I've managed to go down a dress size. For the stuff not in good shape, I give to my Mom who chops up the fabric to use in crazy quilts. :)

I have hashimoto's thyroiditis (low functioning thyroid). I take my meds every day and am able to lose weight; it's just that the fatigue is more of a challenge than anything else, currently. On my good days, I feel pretty normal. Before I was diagnosed, I could look at a cake and gain 10 pounds. Since beginning treatment,…

There are a couple of groups for those of us with thyroid problems. Here is one of them: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/753-hypothyroidism-and-hyperthyroidism

My food log is closed because I want it to be closed. I get enough judgmental looks from strangers when I'm out doing errands. (I got about 130 lbs to lose, so yeah, I'm a fatty mcfatterson.) I don't need strangers giving unsolicited opinions about what I put into my mouth. If I want opinions on what I eat, I'll ask for…

Absolutely wear a sports bra. Depending on size/need, a plain ol' stretchy one could do just fine. As for shoes, invest in a GOOD pair. I finally forced myself to buy a high end pair of exercising shoes and I have not regretted it since that first work out. :)

I would do nearly anything to get even a bit off my belly, but nope, not happening just yet. First I noticed my back was getting slimmer, then my thighs.

I second the suggestion to try swimming or aqua-batics class. The water will make it less work on your joints. That depends on if you have access to a swimming pool. If not, short walks are a nice start, as well. :)

I weigh myself twice per week and record it. If I do it any more frequently than that, I find I can get too discouraged with my fluctuations in weight.

I'm hypo as well and I've had it at least 10 years. I'm finally losing weight now that I'm under the care of a good endocrinologist and internist. Feel free to add!

I'm not a picky eater when it comes to pizza. Anchovies, however, are a major deal breaker!

I'm pretty laid back. I'd only delete for overly rude or hateful behavior. Thankfully, neither sort have sent me FRs. ;)

Wow, so much to catch up on! Hope everyone is well, or on the road to being well. :) I've given myself the proverbial boot to the butt and have been cycling again. Also, I've been forcing myself to cook at home at least 2 meals per day. Managed to pack on 2 pounds during my month-long SAD spree. :'(

Hello, all! Hope things are going well! The change to the forums/threads has really thrown me off. Sunday Share: Dedicating October to pulling my head out of my posterior and getting back on track. Seasonal Affective Disorder sucks! It's not as bad as when I was living in Montana, but I'm still getting some of it here in…

I'm more than ready to pack Clara's bag for her and send her off into the Vortex, never to be found again. After last night's episode, I've gone from grudging tolerance of her to out-right disgust.

@Robinsegg- Sadly, I cannot have diet sodas. I'm allergic to both aspartame and sorbitol, the most common sweetners soda makers seem to use. :( @Bohemiancoast- What did you wind up doing regarding your sugar limit? I'm just using what MFP has suggested for me. So far, I've found myself getting low blood sugar symptoms more…

I have a few. #1: Diabetes runs on both sides of my family. My Mum was diagnosed in her 40s. I want to avoid it as long as I can! #2: The shocking realization that I would wind up at 300 pounds if I didn't change my ways and fast. #3: My knees have hurt since I was 18ish. I want to stave off osteo-arthritis for as long as…

@GWhammy- WOW! WELL DONE!! :flowerforyou:  :drinker:  Welcome to the new folks! This thread/group is awesome and super supportive! :flowerforyou: AFM - Am a little sad, I made the final apricot tart of the season. Got the last of the fruit and fixed it up. Also, I made my own September challenge of trying to…

I went to OA last summer and found it to be a helpful experience. The chapter I went to weren't pushy on the spiritual aspect, as it was viewed as a personal choice. I stopped going because I got too busy to make it to the meetings on the day they meet. I would highly encourage anyone to take in a couple meetings to see if…

1. Willingness to learn 2. Too stubborn to give up 3. Increasingly able to cool down quickly after being upset

Never, ever, ever shop at VS for a bra. The women in my family were all stalked by the boob fairy, and thus, need... generous cups. I've yet to EVER see VS carry anything larger than a D cup. :explode:

Most often, I weigh in twice per week. If I did it more often than that, I'd probably go bonkers from the fluctuations.

Once you're at a level of medication that you and your doctor both feel is good for you currently, it will take at least a couple months to notice any weight loss. Are you also logging your food/calorie intake and getting some exercise?
-
I always take mine on an empty stomach, even if when I wake up varies. That is the only way I've found it to do the best good for me. When I'm not hurt, it typically goes like this: wake up, take meds, go exercise, bathe, THEN eat. Easily 30 minutes have passed since taking the meds once I get around to eating.

Hello ladies and gents! I had a good day, all things considered. Made 6 pints of apricot jam and have a couple dozen fruits left over for tomorrow's apricot tart! My brother has also taken an even bigger interest in getting healthier, to the point that he's actually put the MFP app on his phone. *does a dance* :drinker:…

My "NO" foods: 1. Oysters. I get very ill every time I try to eat them, doesn't matter how they're prepared. (Yeah, even deep fried ones.) 2. Brussel sprouts. A nasty smell that makes me gag. Also, a nasty after taste that clouds over the taste of everything else for the next 2 hours, even after a palate cleanser. No…

I've played games since I was a child, starting with the NES way back in the late 1980s. I've roleplayed in WoW and Everquest,…

IF I know about the event ahead of time, I'll skimp a little on calories 2 or 3 days beforehand. If not, no big deal. Just means more exercise for the rest of the week if I'm not injured. I try to enjoy myself when I'm out.

I weigh in twice a week: Wednesday and Sunday. I record the Sunday weights.
