  • Happy Friday all! Went to the local Walgreens a couple weeks ago to get my flu shot. The poor pharmacist on duty was busier than a one-legged man in a butt kicking contest! I had to wait an hour before she could get to me and give my shot. That said, that was the least painful vaccination I've had in my life! Major kudos…
  • Hey there! I'm 39 and I have 100+ lbs to lose (I've been yo-yo-ing the same 40lbs for the past 6 months and I'm going BONKERS).
  • Well done! Glad it works for you! I've noticed my pain is less on days where I avoid refined carbohydrates.
  • Neighbor lady was cheering me on from her yard while I was going by on my power walk. :)
  • Thursday truth: Sometimes I am too stubborn for my own good. I woke up in pain, but still wanted to work out. Foot hurt a bit much for walking. Trying to peddle the bike made my knee loudly complain. I was going to power through it when I remembered that doing that is how I got hurt in the first place.
  • My mom never had any food rules, other than put away your leftovers properly. The bad thing I picked up from her was emotional eating. Feeling good? Celebrate with sweets! Feeling bad! Soothe it away with ice cream. Feeling bored? Chew on something. It's a hard habit to break, but I think I'm winning.
  • If I'm out pokemon hunting by myself, I usually just pop on earbuds so people won't think I'm lost.
  • A fancy blouse I got as a gift a few years ago was too small for me when I got it. I tried it on the other day and it fit perfectly. :)
  • Heh, my elderly mother has been coming along with me in the evenings when I cruise our neighborhood looking for some pokemon. It's a win/win in my book: I add to my collection, and she gets better blood glucose readings the next morning. <3
  • Hi there! Not diabetic (but literally half my relatives are type 2), but have hypothyroidism. Trying to improve my health so I hopefully do not get "the big D" myself. (Or at least stave it off for as long as possible.)
  • Well, it's summer time in Texas here. I usually resort to the tank top so I don't have so much heat trapped against my body. Purely a comfort measure rather than a fashion one.
  • Were you dehydrated? I have to sip water while I cycle. If I don't, by the time I'm done, I'll feel like my ears are filled with cotton and can only hear my heart hammering. If it doesn't resolve itself in a couple hours, I'd see a doc.
  • I typically just use a tank top (or tshirt if I wanna be more modest) and some comfortable shorts. Since losing a bit of weight, I've been able to find sport bras in Target and Kmart that fit me. I prefer to invest more money in good workout shoes. My knees have thanked me for repenting of my cheap-shoes-will-do ways.…
  • 1. Drink 2L of water 2. Log all food and drink 3. Eat more fruit and veg than I did yesterday
  • @cresswellmb Welcome! You're in good company here! @pinkstarberry I've noticed I have more trouble with losing weight if I am sleep deprived. Well, that and trouble with just about everything else, too. LOL @wadwrich Isn't that awesome? I love being able to "shop" in my closet and wear my old smaller stuff that looks nice.…
  • I've had very good luck with nike and under armor for running/walking shoes. All the same, get fitted at the shop. What works for one person may not for another.
  • SW 285. *cringe* CW 253 GW 130 Am only 5ft 3in tall. Yeah, this is going to take a while. Weight is slow to come off, but clothes are getting more loose and my strength and endurance are gradually increasing. Picked my goal based on what a healthy BMI would be for me.
  • Heck no! You look good! You keep on doing you! :)
  • @runto107 Welcome, welcome! Feel free to join in! @slow2move The first step is the most important one to take! Welcome! @suznhenz Oh my goodness, that trike looks like fun! Way to go on finding something you like and sticking to it! :) @pinkstarberry A tape measure is a great idea! I also cut myself some slack where the…
  • Hi there! I have hypothyroidism and have lost 30+ pounds with a combination of diet and exercise. - Are you seeing a general doctor or a specialist? I've been seeing an endocrinologist and I've been much better for it. Sometimes, a GP just can't hack it to get you to feeling optimal. - What tests does your doctor order…
  • Today is my rest day, but I have goals! 1. Don't hurt myself! That means not pushing myself too hard, as my hip is still healing. 2. Log all my food and drink today. 3. Stay at or under my calorie budget. 4. Stay at/under budget for my sodium and sugar intake.
  • @Isabelle_1929 There reason some of us are "dramatic" is because we were abused by people who either would not or could not behave in a socially acceptable manner. Only OP knows if her mother is a toxic person or not. Some cases a healthy self esteem is all that is needed to deal with someone. Other times, the person is so…
  • OP, your mother is a jerk. I'd cut down contact with her, if you are certain she'd be resistant to changing her ways. You may want a relationship with her, but it is not worth it if she keeps hurting your feelings with each interaction. I no longer speak to cousins who were cruel to me about my weight when I was growing…
  • @GOINSTD12 I'm sorry things are so rough for you! That has to be maddening! It's really hard to be a caregiver when you get very little to no time to recharge your batteries! :( @cjbrummet You're stronger willed than I am! I'm a hopeless sucker for all things barbecue and also nachos. Thursday - Truth (got anything you…
  • I think it's a pretty neat app. I feel a little bit embarrassed to be my age and chasing a darn Duoduo for half a mile this morning. And no, I didn't catch him. :(
  • @cjbrummet I'm so sorry about your cousin! :( I also understand the boredom on the treadmill/stationary bike. I've been listening to audio books while I peddle on mine to help fend off the boredom longer. Almost done with Tom Sawyer now, lol! @badnoodle Wow! I think you did good! Any exercise is good exercise, so long as…
  • You are not a mental case. You're just a normal human being. Regardless of what you look like, you need to learn how to like and then love yourself first, or you'll have trouble being fully "there" emotionally when you find a new partner. I know this from personal experience. One simple idea: Whenever you're feeling down…
  • @wadwrich That is awesome! Good work! @felicitymaywhite Yep! There's people here still! @atitagain1958 Well done! That's quite a lot for 1 week! @magg1107 I love getting a mani/pedi. I haven't gone to a salon for that in ages, as I'm usually embarrassed over how weak my nails and hair typically are. They're getting better,…
  • @MrsFarrow You can do it! Just remember it is a marathon and not a race. :) @atitagain1958 I totally understand the anxiety before a doctor's appointment! I do not enjoy being scolded for my weight, which has happened to me almost every time I've been to the doctor since I've been an adult! Fortunately, my endo (I have a…
  • My biggest issues are eating out of boredom, portion control, and dealing with days where my fibromyalgia flat out kicks my butt and it takes all my willpower to get dressed.
