College is more pure football..the NFL is a more general entertainment package. Both have huge plus points, namely the Notre Dame Fighting irish and the San Francisco 49ers. Every other team sucks.

are you training specifically to run just *one* mile at that speed or are you looking to run longer distances at that sustained pace? your training needs will vary depending on what you want to achieve.

Not British, but I live in leicestershire England..UK friends are always welcome...please feel free to add me..anybody...especially if you like running as I have very, very few UK friends that run.

i suppose I could ask her for rent if I paid her back every single she spent raising me. what's the reason behind this post, and cut the BS about it being someone else's situation..why are you posting on a fitness forum about charing your mom rent?

I thought that too

mine is with fluff, peanut butter and raspberry jam. welcome to the NFL of sammiches.

I am in *exactly* the same situation as you are in...I have totally lost it and any distance over 5 miles is unenjoyable. Like you, I entered to complete, not compete in a Marathon, and over achieved. I wanted to enter a fall marathon but don't know if I will actually be able to do this. I'd be very interested to see what…

there are lots of fitness DVD's like p90x, 30 day shred etc that you can do, or set yourself up with cheap weights and do strength work from home...and for cardio, you can always run, swim or ride a bike..you really don't need a gym!
-
For someone like me who aims to complete rather than 'compete', the quest for continuous self improvement is really important. asking myself what I could have done better and what went well are things I ask myself after each and every run. The biggest failure for me is not going out to run when I should be running...

if she wanted attention, she'd go to the gym when it was packed full of people.

if you need the validation of people online, then i'd say don't do it.

congrats on starting c25k! And bigger kudos for doing it outdoors..and it does get steadily more challenging, just stick with it and trust in the programme!! Also, if you havn't already, invest in decent fitted running shoes. I went from day 1 of c25k to a full marathon in a year..anybody can do it, just train hard and…

call me anal, but i log how many miles I run in my shoes ( via nike+). even though shoes may look good cosmetically, the cushioning properties do diminish over time. I tend to use mine for around 500 miles then use them for gardening in :-)

I went from c25k to a marathon in a year exactly ( to the day from starting c25k to marathon day) and what you are attempting is very possible.... I started c25k May 2012 and ran a 13.1 mile training run by mid august 2012... so firstly.. CONGRATULATIONS on setting a tough but workable goal!! secondly... Get some proper…

For me, speed came with logging more miles..and more, then more miles and then more miles than that...but increase them sensibly on a week to week basis!! I have never tried speed work , fartleks etc...but my 10k time dropped by 10 minutes inside of 4 months....simply by running more miles...

If you have a smart phone, an app like endomondo/map my run/ runkeeper, nike+ etc would do all of that for free....
-
Nike+ sportwatch...dead on accurate and locks to a satellite almost instantly...wouldn't use anything else.... BUT: Utterly useless for calories ( even with the compatible strap, it dosn't report accurate calories, just an estimate using some sort of algorithm), and useless for cycling etc...it's running dedicated only.
