I have heard to get new insoles about every 200 miles or so. You could just replace the insoles for $20 or less instead of buying brand new shoes for like $100...

pedicures/manicures are always a nice treat. I have set goals in the past with the reward of new running shoes, cuter workout clothes, new workout dvd (not necessarily weight goals, but workout goals as well---whats the point of getting the new stuff if you're not going to use it? so I always had to prove to myself I would…

Wow. Thank you so much for sharing this. How inspirational and very poignant. I'm saving this to refer back to later :)

I take back what I said... lol. If you're walking THAT much (3 hours) I would track something. Especially if you are sweating or getting your heartrate up, which sounds like you might be for a time. But if it's under an hour, I wouldn't.
-
I don't tend to track daily activities such as those, mostly because it's leisurely walking and doesn't get my heartrate up, therefore I think of it as already included in my "every-day burn" that MFP already calculates into my caloric needs.

Oh yea. Like tonight I was at my husband's work outing and there are tons of skinny women that work for his company. I just want to pile on a hoodie and sit in a corner...and it's like 100 degress outside lol. But it definitely is good motivation!

the hard concrete of sidewalks have given me terrible shin splints in the past. I stay far away from them anymore. I have noticed that I don't get the shin pain on treadmills as much. Or the tracks that are made of that weird cushiony material if you can find one. It's a black material, but is not asphalt or anything like…

Weekends are the hardest for me as well. There are always friends coming into town, friends wanting to go have a few drinks, wine nights, baseball games with awful, terrible, delicous foods....the list could go on an on. Anyway, I KNOW that I am ALWAYS going to be high in my calories during the weekend, so I try to make…

By recommended, do you mean the 8 cups a day? I know that when I drink lots of water at once, I tend to use the bathroom frequently for quite a while afterwards. If you are drinking all 8 cups before 4 pm, try stretching it out and see if that helps...? I'm curious to hear other ideas because I have always had the same…

I do the Jillian DVD a couple times a week, but since it is only 20 minutes, I usually go do cardio at the gym for a bit afterwards. But you should definitely have rest days in between every couple of strength training (Jillian) days.

ooops! sorry for double post!

Exercising is a great stress reliever AND it burns calories, so you can have some extra room for a piece of cake.... I have also heard that exercising very much helps with cramps :)

Here are a couple of articles I had found when I was researching the same thing. Honestly, I think MFP way underestimates the amount of protein we should have, especially since the vast majority of us are here to lose weight. Hope they help!! 1. MSNBC article. Pretty informative about how much protein is good on a daily…

Well if that guy was 500 pounds, the weight was probably coming off pretty quickly. But if your looking to lose 100 pounds max, I wouldn't think it would come of that quickly, even if you're doing the same diet and exercising because the more weight you have, the more energy it takes to do activities. So I wouldn't set…

I always make sure to have a bottle of water next to me during each meal and every snack.

I am pretty lost myself.... edit: got it... think we posted close to the same time. thanks!!

1 pound is still pretty awesome. If you think about it, 2 pounds is really the maximum someone should lose each week (to stay healthy), so you lost half of that. I also noticed your goal is to lose 20 pounds, so 1 pound is pretty great with that size of goal. I say good job and keep going!!

Welcome!! MFP is pretty awesome and there are tons of people to help keep you motivated! You can add me if you like! Salud!

My feelings on this is that you have to take care of yourself mentally as well as physically. Exercising can definitely improve your mood, but after a traumatizing event like that, one might look to a doctor or possibly a counseling center, especially if you're still feeling like it gets in the way of you being happy and…

I think everyone feels a bit embarrassed because it feels like being on display... I know that for me, I just had to stop taking things so seriously. Once I was able to laugh at myself for how I looked doing exercises or tripping while I'm jogging on the sidewalk (which I tend to do often because of my short legs lol), I…

adding some fruit in somewhere, to snacks or even a meal. apples and bananas add calories as well as nutrients

maybe your fiance can put it in a safe place? taking only a couple out each day? lol
-
Do you mind me asking what kind of exercising you are doing?

Thanks everyone! I may try to just deal with the pain lol, but the green tea idea is really great. It's nice to hear that others have experienced the same withdrawal symptoms and lived to tell the tale! haha. Thanks again!!

I know! I love the carbonation with certain foods. It's just not the same lol

I like the teeth brushing idea!!
