  • My best (favorite) run was Memorial Day of this year. We were on vacation in Saugatuck, and I woke up before my husband and decided to get my run out of the way. Across the lake from where we were staying is the Mt. Baldhead tower. Without knowing the distance, I set off for it. I got to the base in about 25 minutes, (my…
  • Just made the switch to Almond Milk. LOVE it! And, there is some info that I've read recently about cow's milk that I wasn't thrilled about... The only thing I don't like about the Almond milk, is that it's taking time to adjust to the thickness in cereal, but other than that, my family likes it!
  • Thanks for posting - very motivating!!
  • Are you ready for the big question....you know it's coming, right??!! Somebody is gonna ask....."how do you log the 500 calories burned just for drinking water?" Just had to toss it out there, get it out of the way now, LOL. And, I personally have no intention of logging my physcal act of drinking or…
  • That is awesome to see it compared like that with pics - thanks dor sharing!
  • I'm no expert, but I would think it's ok as long as you're properly fueling your body as well (calorie intake and fluids).
  • http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/12/15/phys-ed-the-benefits-of-exercising-before-breakfast/ I had read this a few weeks ago and saved it in my favorites - just to remind myself that it's ok to workout first, then eat.
  • McDonald's double cheeseburger and small chocolate shake for lunch (my own healthy lunch was already packed and ready for me!). Guess I will be hitting the elliptical hard this afternoon... At least I passed up on the fries.
  • I've tried running with a flashlight, but it was too bouncy. So I bought a headlamp with a hinge so I could change the distance of the lighting, but I actually have only used it for projects around the house! And my husband has used it to fix a leak under the kitchen counter...so it is VERY handy to have!! Shortly…
  • I can so relate!! I had been loyally following the 1200 calories and eating back majority of my exercise calories earned and didn't lose more than 2 lbs for a good couple of months (even prior to joining MFP). If I did lose a little weight, I would plateau for weeks at a time and still not budge by much. About 3 weeks ago…
  • Egg whites Beans I use Morning Star meat substitutes a lot for dishes that normally use ground beef or sausage - there's something like 10g of Protien per serving in those.
  • looks yummy! Thanks for sharing!!
  • Free Bird by Lynard Skynard...it's been a while since I've done spinning, but let me tell you...I'll never forget the rides to this LONG *kitten* song! Up, Down, Turn it up,PUSH!! (Ok, going to rock in a corner until the nightmare memories are over!! LOL)
  • Are there any trails or parks near by that you can walk/hike? Go to your old football field and climb the stairs, do interval runs at the track, do you have any friends still in town that you can buddy up with? Just some thoughts....as a mom to a college kid home for the summer, I know that 'cost free' is always a good…

  • My husband got our Insanity DVDs from ebay or craigslist...not sure, but saved us a ton! It's a great workout!!
  • Not always my typical week, but pretty much similar to this: M - 30-35 mins of Weights (Biceps, shoulders, back, triceps, push ups, squats, step-ups, and leg extensions) AND 20-45 mins on elliptical or a 20-30 min run T - Insanity Video W - 20-30 run and a 20 min ab video TH - Insanity Video F - 30-35 mins of Weights…
  • Definitely not alone!! Heck, I can barely make it through the warm ups without feeling a need a break! For some exercises, I can keep pushing hard thru most of the time limit, but there are some that I just have to do at a slower pace. I am very vertically challened, so the jumping ones take everything out of me! When I am…
  • You told MFP that you want to lose weight, so MFP told you to eat 1200 calories (or whatever amount it told you). Eat 1200 calories and you lose weight (without exercising) Adding exercise into your day to burn calories and get fit, your body is now not getting enough 'fuel' (if you work off 300 calories, you're only…
  • I do Tuna Pot Pie - easy, and the family loves it. Pie crust 1 bag of mixed veggies 1 can of cream of potato soup (or mushroom) poultry seasoning (I eyeball this...but I'm thinking it's about 1 tsp) salt and pepper 1-2 cans of tuna (I usually use the family sized bags...) Bake for about 30-40 minutes, until the crust turns…
  • bump!
  • Couscous Confetti: 1 box of Curry Couscous (made according to box) 1/2 bag of Cole Slaw 4-6 chopped green onions (to taste) 1 cup of dried cranberries or raisins Once the couscous cools, mix everything together.
  • Too funny - I just asked the exact same question in another thread! Great minds think alike!
  • Thanks for the tip!!
  • Thanks all! Checking all these out online - appreciate the feedback!
  • Calorie counting is an awesome option! Thanks for your input!
  • I just read Something Borrowed (out in theaters too), and will read the sequel soon, Something Blue I believe...
  • My 16 year old is recovering from a bad sprained ankle. She has been doing the bike and elliptical without much aggrevation to the injury, along with upper body strength training. Walking, running, and swimming (I think the flexing motion when kicking) bothered it... Good luck to a speedy recovery!
  • Sometimes it might happen because the shoes are too tight, but for me, I think it happens becuase of how I 'push' with the same part of my foot. If I mix it up every 3-5 minutes and vary the 'push' with my toes, the ball of my foot, my heels, and the whole surface of the bottom of my feet, they don't go numb on me.
