Very good idea. Good luck, you can do it!

I have had mine both private and public. I prefer private b/c I am embarrassed about what is in it, honestly. I had a friend here on MFP post that she would "de-friend" anyone on here that didn't have their food diary public b/c by having it private, they were just hiding the truth. That really struck a nerve with me. Yes,…

I know exactly what you mean about setting smaller goals. When I started all this, I wanted to do so much so fast and had very high expectations for myself. I got very discouraged very fast b/c those goals/expectations I set for myself were not attainable that quick. I was talking to a friend about it one day and she said…

Oh is mom tried. Apparently his dad didn't like most things like my husband and every time his mom would make something healthy, his dad would say "EEEWW" as soon as she put it on the table and that was the end of it, kids wouldn't touch it. His mother and sister eat a lot of veggies like I do. Must have gotten it from his…

OMG! My husband eats canned peas, canned/frozen corn, and canned green beans and that is IT. I got him to try a salad after nagging and nagging. His salad was like 4 leaves of spring mix lettuce, a sprinkle of cheese and a sprinkle of shredded carrots and he took ONE tiny bite and no more. Then called his mom to tell her…

Great job! Now THAT is dedication.

Ooooh, forgot the vitamin on my list of goals. Adding that now. Thanks.

EXACTLY! One day at a time.

I am getting ready to write mine in a journal I keep so I can refer back to them. I have lots of goals for many different things but my health/fitness goals are going to be the most important. My goals aren't very "advanced," for lack of a better term. I am back to baby steps. 1. Do some sort of exercise for at least 20…

Thats so hilarious when you say it like that. LOL. But been there, tried that. Doesn't work. He has it in his head that if he didn't like something as a kid, he won't like it now and if he tries to eat it, he will get sick. Makes me want to SCREAM!! LOL But there is a lot of truth in " something has to give, make sure it's…

I understand that you don't mean to be hurtful, however, I have to say the "tough love" scenario doesn't work for me. I KNOW that I have to be the one to want it. I KNOW that I have to be the one to make it happen. Part of what makes this site so great is the SUPPORT. I don't get on here for someone to tell me what I…

I too, don't eat a lot of sugar and never have. When I do rarely eat a lot of something sugary, I feel sick. I drink tea w/ NO sugar or sweetener. I rarely order soda when I go to a restaurant, again, its usually un-sweet tea. I have been tested for insulin resistance and have been told that I do not have that and was only…

Thanks for all the responses. Its going to take A LOT to get me motivated again. Sounds terrible, but its the truth. I am praying for God to give me strength to do this.

I have tried taking metformin two different times (diabetes test negative as well) and went off of it both times in just a short time after starting. The first time I went off of it, I had gotten sick, thought it was the flu. Was sick, throwing up for a week. Didn't take ANYTHING during that time for fear of making it…

Congrats on your weight loss as well. I have been back and forth with exercising and watching my calories, etc for a while. The last 6 or 8 months, I basically just said to heck with it. Watching calories and exercising, I GAINED 15lbs. Very discouraging. BUT I have to do something. Obesity runs in my family as well as…

Wow! Congrats on the weight loss! I too, like Leslie's workouts way better than the 30 day shred myself, but didn't want to feel like I was "wimping out." LOL I dread the 30 Day Shred and hate it the whole time I'm doing it but I feel really good afterward. I think if I rely on doing the 30 Day Shred most of the time, I…

Good to know Leslie Sansone's workouts show weight loss results as well. I guess I am too hard on myself. I think if I don't "feel it" after the workout, that I haven't done enough. Thanks for the info.

Its good to know you saw weight loss results w/ the 30 Day Shred. And I was thinking doing the Shred one day and Leslie Sanson the next, which is a walking DVD, to alternate a little. I too, have the weight to lose that is for sure - I'm at 277lbs right now and I keep gaining even when exercising and dieting. Doctor tells…

I don't know about the starving thing but I have been told by my doctor that you should eat/drink something shortly after waking up b/c it gets your metabolism going for the day. By not doing that, you mess up your metabolism and prevent proper weightloss or maintaining of healthy weight.

I must say a big THANK YOU to all of you who replied. Its overwhelming to see just how many people who don't even know you, care. This is an awesome website. I greatly appreciate all the words of encouragement and support. You do not know just how much I need it right now. Thank you so much!

Thanks for the encouragement. I know that the stress on top of the weight is not good. I look for a new job in the classifieds in numerous papers on a daily basis. If we could afford for me to just quit, I'd do it tomorrow. I dread everyday to the point I wish something "bad" would happen so I had a good excuse to call in.…

My doctor wants me all the way down to 1200 calories a day. I am going to have to do that in baby steps b/c I am doing good to stay under 1500. So frustrating. BUT I HAVE TO DO THIS!

I don't think the nurse was telling him that mfp is bad. I think she just told him that eating the calories you burned from exercising is wrong BUT she doesn't know the details about mfp. I really like the site and it has help me a lot. You are right, it definitely helps with self awareness....BIG TIME!

I, too have found that vitamins have helped tremendously with how I feel. I used to have days when I felt so tired and lethargic that I wasn't sure I'd make it through the day. I have also found that carbs make me feel like that too. If I eat a meal high in carbs, I will drag the rest of the day. Everyone is different but…

Yes, I too have been through the same thing. A few years ago, I really cut back the carbs. In a matter of weeks, I had depression so bad, it was scary. It just hit all at once. My doctor put me on a low dose of an antidepressant to get me through it. She says cutting the calories and carbs aren't the "cause" of the…

I have struggled with lack of motivation myself. It is tough. I have found that knowledge is a powerful thing. Talk to anyone you can about their workouts....what they do, etc. Talk to people about the healthy foods they eat. Talk, talk, talk. The more I started talking to people, the more motivated I was. It makes me get…

I was diagnosed with PCOS in early 2001, just months before getting married. I have had problems with my wieght since puberty. Terrible periods starting in the 5th grade. Had to go home from school EVERYDAY when I had my period to change clothes. As I got a little older, my periods stopped. Doctor put me on different…
