Count me as another who is successful and ate all (most, like 90%) of their exercise calories. In fact, I'm hard pressed to find a single long time successful member who did NOT eat back the majority of their exercise calories (through MFP method or using TDEE minus appropriate deficit eating, where exercise is already…

Of course defer to your medical provider's advice, this is my story: Was overweight, sedentary, total blood cholesterol of 277 (I don't recall the ratios, but they were concerning/at risk), BP 155/90. Doctor gave me 6 months to lose 20 lbs, prescribed the TLC diet (low sat fats, high on whole grains and fiber, fish and…

When I lived in the Midwest, I shopped at Roundys, Walmart, and Aldi. Now, in Las Vegas, it's WinCo, Kroger, Safeway, Dollar Tree, and Albertson's. No Aldi here, but many ethnic and specialty market choices with some good prices on staples.

Yep, this. Although my primary goal is to be stronger, fitter, and more awesome than yesterday. Secondary goal is to make wise choices (most of the time ;) ). I accomplish at least one of these daily, and the goal never expires :)

Ham, scalloped potatoes, green bean casserole, and King's Hawaiian rolls. The middle American standard Easter feast. Oh, and probably deviled eggs, as we'll have made a couple dozen colored eggs, lol.

Avocado. 100g serving has 8.5g carbs, 6.7g of that is fiber. Plus lots of fat and a bit of protein. I'm not familiar with eating your type of diet, OP, but it seems like avocado would easily fit in your day.

I've been known to destroy a jar of peanut butter in such a manner. Oops! I still like eating a spoon of PB, but JUST one (spoon, not half the jar or more in a sitting any more) and it's weighed and logged to fit my day.
-
This for me. I'll probably still fit last year's swimwear. I don't recall the size, and I don't care what I look like in it. Nobody sees me in it except my children and husband, and maybe my girlfriends. I'm modest :)

Toning. I hate that word. No way to "tone" a muscle. Or making muscles "long and lean." Again, not happening. Muscles are exactly the length dictated by connective tissue.

I do bodyweight training, but these are my faves: one legged hip thrusts, pistol squats, bulgarian split squats, one legged romanian deadlifts. Not just glute-exclusive moves, but great overall lower body with glute activation.

Nope. But my gum is 5 cals a stick, and a 15 pack lasts me 2 weeks.
-
I log it as whatever it is. I usually get 93/7 or 90/10 and drain any excess fat. It's not much difference. Probably makes up for the gum and Tic Tacs I don't bother logging.

Lol, but true. I remind myself (if it's the case) that it's just that. Or a little bloat, etc. I've purposely chosen a very slow weightloss (about 2 lbs per MONTH). Scale moves so slowly it appears to be at a standstill more often than not. What helps me is to look back a month, 2 months, or more. Yep, I still weigh less…

Hmm, I guess a profile pic isn't that important. My first and most dedicated MFP pals had no profile pic for the longest time. So, no profile pic is not a problem for me. A friend request with no forum posts, no logging, totally blank profile page, and no message, and doesn't respond to a msg from me.? Or someone with…

Nope. Not helpful, and I would never take them. At best, something calling itself "fat burner" is useless or gives placebo effect. At worst, it contains strong stimulants or other ingredients in excess of labeled amounts and could be dangerous for your heart, liver, and or kidneys.

This is brilliant. Mine still works, but the display is "weird" and hard to read from trapped moisture. I'll be relacing mine soon, and will use this trick.

I have just a non fancy digital Taylor. Either from Target or Walmart. Cost less than $20. Vital functions are the tare (or zero out) button, as well as the ability to weigh to the nearest gram or tenth of an ounce. Oh, and a button on the front to switch between grams and ounces (as opposed to a pain in the butt switch…

Honestly, the links in the "Most Helpful" sticky at the top of this subforum. That contains all the secrets to my success.

I do this^^. Although, I've weighed enough shredded cheese, chopped chicken, and crumbled eggs at home to be a very good estimator of those things so I put my "usual" quantities of those on a takeout salad.

Refrigerated tap water for me. It's very hard water, but it tastes good to me. I don't like the taste of commercial bottled water, at least the ones available here. And I don't really measure how much, and don't log it most of the time. If my pee's a healthy pale or straw color, I know I'm good and hydrated.
-
Yep. 3 teaspoons = 1 tbsp = 120 cals is what I am saying. I wasn't clear.

I have a Diet Pepsi every day, plus I use a couple squirts of water enhancer (Mio, e.g.). Plus Splenda or stevia in my coffee. I've preferred these drinks when I was overweight, and still drink them now that I'm leaner. Low/no calorie beverages have neither harmed nor helped me. I just prefer them.

Agree. My scale is sensitive enough. Except when it isn't (sounds like yours, too, OP). Calorie dense things that I use in small quantity get one of two measurement methods: 1. I don't tare the scale, like Cassidy suggests. 2. I do like you propose, weighing the whole block, or bottle of oil or peanut butter, etc., then…

That's why I stopped taking my margarine intravenously. Oral administration avoids this problem.

I've been here 662 days. Even when I'm not logging food, I'm here, lurking in the shadows >:)

Yep, a couple sizes down is very doable for a skilled seamstress. Just make sure to take your dress for alterations about 4 weeks before the date (3 weeks prior at the very latest). Double this time frame if it's the bride's gown or very elaborate style (many layers to shorten, beading/appliques that require moving, etc).…

Butter tastes better, but I live in a house of margarine lovers. Blech! They're all weirdos. Anyway, I don't consume enough myself to buy my own butter, so I eat the Country Crock. I don't see anything "evil" in its ingredients, no trans fat, etc., so I eat it.

Any concerns should be addressed by your pediatrician, of course. That said, my 6-1/2 year old has a BMI of 14, which is 11th percentile for his age group (which would probably be similar to your 7 yo). Doc says he's in the healthy range, and has no concerns about his growth trend. Just says let him eat as much as he wants…

I walk daily, 45-60 minutes at brisk pace Mon-Sat, 20-30 minutes on Sunday. Calisthenics thrice weekly, 45 minute sessions. I do the brisk walking for cardiovascular health (family history of high cholesterol and high BP ends with me). I do the calisthenics for strength, for the challenge, and for maintaining muscle mass…

I'm loving the brand Great Grains. They make a multigrain and an old fashioned white I like equally well.
