Thanks for taking the time out of the normal conversation to explain this a bit more to me, guys. I greatly appreciate it. There are so many myths and false beliefs in fitness, exercise, and dieting in general that it's hard to know what is truth and what is fabrication.

I feel as if my mind has been blown. So muscle mass does not equate to strength. I never realized this, as I've never put much thought to it. So, basically, while strength training as a woman looking to lose weight, it's helping to retain the muscles I do have, strengthens them, but does not increase the mass or size of…

This has been a very interesting thread to read. Most of the information went over my head, though. I do have a question related to the OP, though. If a woman who has no previous lifting experience and low muscle tone to begin with started to lift weights 3x a week, would she still only gain 7-10 lbs of muscle weight a…

I haven't updated my profile in a while. We moved south too about 7 months ago :) We're in Edwardsville, IL now. As for inches, I'm not really sure how many I've lost since the start of things. I've only been tracking pictures and weight for the program. The inches I keep track of are from my starting weight of 188, and I…

I have free weights ranging from 3 lbs to 10 lbs, and then I have my husband's PowerBlocks ranging from 15-50lbs.

I've lost 10 pounds and 13.5 inches doing Slim in 6 since the beginning of March.

Very impressive! I love the BeachBody workouts.

You can do it :) You have the foundation of fitness already, so you're ahead of the game.

I'd actually say that sounds about right. On the BeachBody forum, so they Burn it Up is about 600 calories, so to me it makes sense that Ramp it up with be ~400 and Start it Up ~200.

Thanks for all the replies, guys! Chest strap monitors are far more accurate, correct? Are they uncomfortable to wear?

This is an older thread, but on TeamBeachBody, they state that generally you burn 600 calories doing Burn it Up!, which is the same calorie burn as P90X. I'm estimating that I burn between 200-250 doing Start it Up!
