  • Brockster, for me I think you hit the nail on the head. I play sports, so I thought my hamstrings wouldn't be a problem, but I went off lifting weights for 5 months and my back started hurting like crazy. Combo of desk job and now I know-weak hamstrings....I will nail some deadlifts. Thanks.

  • Are you sitting all day when you work....At the computer? If you are, think about it....you are in training for ten hours with your knees bent and probably tensed. Your hamstrings may be shortening up. Its trouble... Try cross training, biking, walking etc. Tai chi is great to strengthen your legs. And lots of stretching.…

  • Do your best to avoid injury. Cross Training is recomended by a lot of people. If you do just one thing your body can get "stale" or overtrained. Your body might also get too efficient and you won't burn as many calories. There are a ton of good exercises out there, You Tube shows you correct form. Look up movements like…
  • Is the extreme pain necessary? I'm an older athlete and I'm a little sceptical that it has to hurt that much. Take it easy and build slowly. Look for alternative exercises (Tai chi, yoga, etc.) if the boot camp approach is discouraging you. Watch out for overtraining injuries too. Good luck.
  • Take care of your rotater cuff. It's easy to get over enthusastic with weight training and esp. arm and shoulder workouts. Check out You tube etc. for rotater cuff and shoulder exercises with weights no more than 5-6 lbs. It will pay off for you and keep you injury free.
