  • I'm thinking athletic, that's what Im closest to especially since my "assets" left 40 lbs ago
  • What a great thread!!! I remember when I decided to take up running to lose weight and ran / walked to the corner and back - 1 mile- and came home in tears feeling defeated at how hard it was. Three weeks ago I ran a half marathon in just over 2 hours and was in tears because I accomplished something that no one expected…
  • <---- Beginning 225, other 165
  • I had a late night infomercial epiphany, I was nursing my 6mo baby in the middle of the night and a commercial for 10 minute trainer came on and it hit me- I can do this! it only takes 10 minutes so I can do it while the kids are sleeping... Anyway I took this picture <---- and that was the start My dad weighs about 350…
  • I ran a half a couple weeks ago and I had to pee the last 4 miles, but I held it not wanting to take the time to stop, I probably would have run faster and made up the time if I did stop. There was more than one occasion that I considered just letting it go (it was pouring rain) but decided I'm not fast enough to justify…
  • I don't watch BL but I go to his site to get new ideas for the workout classes i teach.
  • Push ups, it makes a huge difference, strengthening the muscles in your chest, thus lifting the ladies... My chest is totally gone, and I nursed 2 kids so, they needed some help. strength training in general with a gradual weight loss will prevent sagging skin all over, Good Luck.
  • Ok, I did the wicked things workout today with chairs as my dip station. It worked out great! Thank you for the idea :flowerforyou: http://www.bodyrock.tv/2011/09/19/wicked-things-workout/
  • Funny I was on that plan for a while too, didn't work out. DH and I went on a 3 day crash diet before out wedding, we made it 2 days, it was horrible. I have also taken pills that I bought from a friend, pretty stupid I dont even know what they were.
  • Ok, good to know I was wondering if you could do a knee pull up with two chairs, I wasnt sure if they would support the weight without pulling in... I guess the answer is try it.
  • So funny, I was really self consious when I started running, mostly that people would look at me and think what the **** does she think she is doing running. I have had some race pics that kinda look like the bottom one though :)
  • Thank YOU, thats the other thing I was wondering about, I teach some group fitness classes and I am always looking for new challenges to throw at those people... I will check out the ones you listed and see what they are like, the one I watches yesterday when I checked it out was intense but IM not sure if I have something…
  • I got fat, pretty, *kitten* :/
  • The great thing about this site is that no matter how alone you feel someone else has been there! You have taken the first step, there are some amazing supprotive people on this site and you can build your own support system that you are lacking at home. Keep your head up and try to remember how long it has taken you to…
  • Google Jeff Galloway. He has a great running program that is 3-4 days a week and very gradual and it starts with 3 mile long runs. I just did my own version of his half training program and it was great. He also does the run - walk, but that is totally up to you , you can just take out the waking and do the runs like I…
  • I have found it very adaptable, I run 3-4 days a week and, teach multiple fitness classes so I really don't need the whole program per say, but I use the abs, and rotate the upper body workouts to fit my needs. The program is meant for everyone, including people not that knowledgeable about fitness. If you are already…
  • I have lost a total of 65lbs, and there is definitely a psychological benefit to losing weight and getting fit. The way I feel about myself has totally changed, although I still have "I feel fat" days, knowing how far I have come and how hard I work every day to stay here gives me a total confidence boost. I just ran a…
  • This might seem random but I was at a 14m trail race over the summer and they had skittles at the halfway point. A small handful chewed slowly really helped me get through the second half of a hard race. I have never tried gu or sports bean because they make me nervous and my stomach is sensitive to caffeine when Im…
  • Off topic I know but 75% of the runners for the half were female, it is amazing to see so many women make a serious commitment to health.
  • Feel free to add me, I am a runner through and through, I do a lot of cross training because I teach fitness classes but running is my passions. In fact I just ran my first half marathon yesterday so I am on a love of running high today .
  • Congrats, me too, its an amazing feeling to accomplish something that you worked so hard for. Congratulations again!
  • Ran my first half yesterday in Corning NY. 2:07:14!!!!
  • I work at a gym so i wear shorts or capri workout pants year round, so I shave year round, Im fair haired so I could get away with letting it grow so its more about my comfort level. Have you ever worn dry wicking pants with stubble? its like velcro.
  • AMEN to this!!!!!!!!!!
  • I am about 5 lbs from my goal and I am rocking a size 10, they are a little lose but my hips aren't getting much smaller even when I get to goal so no I don't think that's a plus size.
  • My armband is plastic so it protects my ipod pretty well. I have never had a problem with my earbuds, I think they get just as wet from my sweat as they would from the rain.
  • That I have always been into fitness. that Im 24, lol but I dont mind when this one happens.
  • First of all let me say welcome, since you mentioned it I wanted to say that this is not meant to be a runners group. It works for me and I love it, but everyone has to embrace what works for them... I found out the hard way that I need to have a rest day planned, if I go too long without a break I find my resting heart…
  • Glad to see so many like minded ladies, welcome all! My main passion is running, that is how I lost the majority of my weight. About a year ago a friend of mine introduced me to the benefits of strength training, and I fell in love with how it helped my running and with how it helped shaped and tone my body without having…
  • I think husbands of significant others walk a very fine line of being supportive without seeming pushy. I think that concern about losing too much, or enough weight is best left to girlfriends. My husband would never tell me to stop losing or that he preferred me to be heavier or lighter ( because he values his life) but I…
