Why is it that the more I lose, the more I struggle with the process emotionally? Ugh. Not necessarily in a bad way, just... I have to work through things more than I did 40 lbs ago when I felt nothing but a dash of happy when I lost a lb.

Meh, I say upping cals a bit couldn't hurt. Neither would less processed foods, more fruits and veggies. But as for the dairy, you can have a sensitivity to it that does cause bloating, but doesn't cause severe enough symptoms to be diagnosed with intolerance. Most people have so much animal dairy in their diet that they…

I just became merely overweight myself. Feels awesome! It is odd, but I really felt less overweight at the same time. Slightly more normal sized. Healthier. All within about 5 lbs of being overweight. Makes me think there might be something to it other than an arbitrary line in the sand.

I've lost 53 in 5 months and I'm still going... is that close enough to warrant belonging? Patience and consistency are key. And to be patient, you'll need to be flexible and allow your favorite foods. It isn't an all or nothing-or a race. It is a lifelong process. That said, you can usually lose easier and quicker when…

Hmmm. Eat out but just make better choices. You should never be starving on 1700 calories unless you prioritize cal dense food. If you eat a few days to satiety with just lean protein and veggies, you will then know how many calories you have for treats. Like quest bars. Or dessert. I can eat at just about any place and…

I feel physically better, but yes, I have been getting sick more. I eat a ton of whole foods, very balanced diet, and take a multivitamin. So I have been chalking it up to just a rough fall and winter. And my daughter started kindergarten so I blame her for sharing germs. :)

Oh, and I wanted to add that sometimes mfp friends can help without knowing. I have a friend on here who never loses very much at a time. .4 here, .2 there. But he is consistent as clock work. And just in the short time we have been friends he is down 20lbs. little loses add up to big numbers faster than you'd guess if you…

I felt the same way when I hit a one month stall in my weightloss. I had two options, keep doing the healthy thing and realize that it will come off eventually if you are patient, or revert to my old ways and be 100% positive that I would always be one of the fattest, and know I would be on meds within the year and…

I record each new low. Unless I have done something so crazy high in calories that I anticipate a gain, I know that any slight fluctuation is water weight, so I ignore it and just wait for my new low. You work hard for that loss. Too hard to ignore it.

I just had a month long plateau. I recalculated my numbers. They were accurate. I spent a few weeks measuring everything to make sure I wasn't eyeballing incorrectly. I wasn't. I increased my activity. Nothing helped. I finally got strep and spent three days eating about 800 calories over my deficit goal with ice cream,…

Somebody told me that my loss was inspiring them to eat better. And in other news, I'm now only overweight instead of obese ii where I started. I finally feel more normal instead of like I'm always the largest in the room.

Cut yourself some slack. Eat the right amounts of the healthiest food you can stand. Plan ahead to allow occasional treats for special occasions. Find new nonfood methods to reward yourself and new nonfood ways to handle your negative thoughts. I treat myself with new clothes, manicures, or accessories when I have been…

That was my first sign that the daily food choices I was making were helping. I will never forget how amazing it was to realize I had prevented being on medicine. :)

Nice!

Hey. Good luck. I'm in my second year of law school and gained a good 30-40 lbs in my first year. Yikes! I decided to focus on health to the detriment of grades if necessary because I didn't want to end my degree at 300 lbs. I have lost 50 lbs and am now working on the last 50. Add me if you want a friend who is on here…

Great story. Congrats, so happy for you, can't wait to be right there at my own finish line.

My husband and I have done the weight loss thing many times. Usually the person who hops on the healthy bandwagon first annoys the heck out of the non healthy person until they get on board. One time I banned health from my husband's talking vocabulary because everything he said was about eating healthy or his weight. So…

no I was the the same as a young mama. I lost the initial weight, but then my body didn't want to lose anything. But after I stopped breastfeeding it all came off. I don't regret bfing for one minute of the two years I spent breastfeeding my two kids. I just wish I had given myself a pass and hadn't stressed the weight. It…

See a physical therapist so you don't mess anything up worse? I would assume anything low impact would be best... maybe water aerobics?

I love the zombies app!!!! I hate to run, but it makes it fun. Keep running, Runner 5, you are doing great and are almost safe. :)

Remember that losing 100 lbs is a physical and emotional battle that you will be fighting daily and be generous with yourself if you don't meet your goals. Just keep going and you will. I find that the mental aspect of losing is more challenging for me than the physical. Mentally I fight my habits, mentally I manage my…

As a fellow Texan, you go man! Very inspiring story.

I wouldn't, but my mother in law left my kids in her car once. Last time she was allowed to drive them anywhere. You do not leave somebody elses kids 3 and 4 at the time alone in your car with the keys in the ignition just because they are asleep and you don't want to wake them.

Run my first 5k. Use weights to build strength and a little muscle. Measurements and a fat est.

Congrats on every pound! You look fabulous!

Can't wait to join you. Been stuck at 48 for 3 weeks. Congrats!!!

Not sure. I've wondered the same thing. But I guess it depends on what level of activity you base your cals on and if you are still that active when you sleep in. I am. I usually stay up later and work out and move more on the weekend than I do with my desk job. So I eat my calories. Usually harder to stay within than to…

I'm obsessed with here too. But I find that keeping my mind on here keeps my hand out of the cookie jar and increases the odds that I actually exercise. So I deal with my addiction with a smile. You could always snap a picture (assuming you have a camera or your phone takes pics) of everything that goes in your mouth so…
