  • Some days I find I don't get many at all but today I did work on it.
  • Today: 1. 1 cup of spinach 2. shredded carrots (approx. 1 oz. or so) 3. 4 strips of bell pepper 4. 1/2 cup of green beans 5. 2 Tbsp. of green olives 6. 2 Tbsp. of pickled jalapeños 7. 5 mushrooms (not technically a fruit or veggie but I'm counting it) 8. 5 raspberries (not a full serving but I ate it) 9. garlic (probably…
  • Love this!
  • My husband has been out of the service for awhile. He now works as a civilian on base. He has always wanted his service awards to be mounted. This year I got his ribbons, etc. put on a set if dress blues and the right side of the uniform fills the shadow box.
  • My husband teasing me about him having to wrap all the gifts and I'm insisting I have a role--I write all the tags. Telling the kids they can't wake me up before 7am but they can't get started without me either. Insisting we open gifts one at a time so we can drag it out and see day other's excitement. Finding at least one…

  • This is what I was thinking. The first inspiration picture you showed was not from a pear shaped body. In the second picture, the thighs are hidden beneath a dress. Part of this is also learning to love the shape you have. I think you've been given good advice but I wanted to throw this out there to encourage you to also…
  • My day does not start without an hour long bath. It's my zen time. I will get up at 4am if necessary but my hour long bath is sacred. Okay--if it is only 50 minutes, I promise I do not cry.
  • I would wave a wand and magically every video media, of any kind, in any location, and on any output device would be captioned and without flaw. It's a dream I have.
  • I like the paisley design dress and the black and white dress. The black and white dress is especially a great design for a pear shape. Two good tricks for pear shape: 1. Draw the eye to the top to balance the visuals with the bottom. 2. Accentuate the tiny waist that accompanied pear shapes. The black and white dress does…
  • *delete Missed details when I read the original post.
  • I love this because I think the same thing sometimes. Focus on the process. That's where the real power is. The end is just the result.
  • Commitment is more important than motivation. Tell yourself what you WILL do.
  • I love your story so much, I'm gonna share it with a friend of mine.
  • “It’s not that some people have willpower and some don’t. It’s that some people are ready to change and others are not.” ~James Gordon I'm not saying this is an easy task, even for those who are ready, but it is important to note that this is your journey and not his. The key to will power is self determination. Showing up…
  • My favorite recipe is Quinoa Tabboleh. Here is a sample recipe but you can add all kinds of stuff to it. I like to add feta cheese and green olives for a bit of a flavor pick up. http://www.bonappetit.com/recipes/2012/06/quinoa-tabbouleh
  • I want to know if someone has tried this! If not, will you be our experimenter?
  • Sometimes we can over punish these kids that it can backfire. I recommend reading, "The Kazdin Method of Parenting the Defiant Child."
  • I measure what I can. The rest, I guess. I live abroad so I have to do a fair share of estimating. I still lose. LIke the above poster mentioned, I pick something similar and guess high.
  • I have one and I love it but I got bored after several months. Now I'm looking at Striiv. That says more about my need for more gadgets than anything else. One really nice thing I like about the fitbit though over other ones is the sleep monitoring. The updated ONE updates wirelessly via phone. I want that feature! The…
  • By the way, I live abroad. I frequently don't have nutritional information. I just log it as coming from whatever restaurant I can find that has a similar item and assume it is higher calorie than I would make it at home. I've been fine.
  • I would skip the cookie. A subway cookie is over 200 calories. As for the sandwich, I would eat it as is and just log it the best I could. If I made any changes I would choose a flat bread and take off the top and eat it with a fork. At home I tend to make open faced sandwiches. Edited to add: I was writing at the time you…
  • OMG! A real game! Lol. I've downloaded the app.
  • At the moment I'm an angry momma bear (someone isn't being nice to her cubs) so I'm trying not to stuff my face. I used to be horrible about sitting through a bag of chocolate (literally). I made a conscious effort to change that. Now that you recognize your style, you can make a new plan. Yesterday can still reap rewards…
  • I haven't read the article in full yet but I can tell you that all I know is I weigh 2 measly pounds less than I did before I gained my moving abroad pounds and yet I'm not only a full size smaller, I'm almost ready for the next size!!! (I'm already able to button/zip the next size). I fully believe all of that is due to…
  • I lift 3 days a week (usually, lately something has been cropping up and it has been 2 I do a cardio warm up for about 15 minutes. If someone is willing to walk with me, I add that. It's not planned. I used to have a regular walking partner but she moved a few months ago. I see this as an enjoyable chatty time activity…
  • Oscar Mayer makes a pretty good selection of precooked deli chicken. It looks like fajita meat but serves nicely cold. Put some of that in a nice salad. That will easily add protein. Sometimes I just eat a whole package of it by itself (6 oz., 220 cal., 46g protein) and other times I just add an ounce or two with other…
  • Yay! Now I'm gonna tell you a secret behind true success--the word commitment. It is not enough to be motivated. Motivation won't always be there. We have to continue to work on stoking our motivation. When it isn't there and even when it is there, the true driving force will be commitment. Decide what your goals are.…
  • The thing about long term maintenance is this: one must have a healthy relationship with food. This can come in a variety of shapes and some people may need to monitor their relationship with food more continuously. I would even venture to say most of us have an area they know is weaker than other aspects and have to…
