  • I googled the question and found this answer: My average banana weighed 183 grams unpeeled, 116 grams peeled. 185/116=1.58. So, 2.25 pounds (1021 grams) of unpeeled banana = 1.43 pounds (647 grams) of peeled banana. My average banana (very average in the store, Dole brand) was 62.4% edible It always amazes me what answers…

  • My husband had trouble with hi GI. One additional thing the doctor suggested was for him to avoid gassy foods (including beans) until his GI track settled down. Since then he has been able to add everything back except dairy. Turns out he is sensitive but not allergic to dairy. Might want to see if the doctor can tell you…
  • Me too. Just rejoined and desperately need to get back on track.
  • I use Skullcandy blue tooth headphones and they work really well with my android phone. No problem with interference from other devices.
  • Good advice from CMNVA. I have an under active thyroid also and find I can lose weight, just not as fast a MFP predicts. I have also found the calorie burn on exercise from MFP is no where near accurate, so I don't eat any of my exercise calories. I have also noticed I don't have much room for error in order to lose…

  • Used to have trouble with it, but several things have helped me. The exercises and rolling a ball under my foot while working at a desk helped a lot, but also the way I would stretch my foot while riding a stationary bike. Still doing stretches on a regular basis, but that is all I am doing now to keep it from returning.…
  • I feel your pain. I have the same problem with some types of protein powder (usually soy) so I stick to whey protein powders and do just fine. I buy mine at wal mart.
  • Welcome back. I can understand taking a break and you did well since you did not gain any weight back. On working out at the gym, I find it helpful to keep a log of cardio workouts (time and miles on the stationary bike, etc) and then look at the totals at the end of the month to see what progress I have made. It's so easy…

  • I agree with Ming, a specialist would be a good idea and can probably suggest exercises to strengthen the muscles to help support the joint. Also as Ming mentioned, cycling without a lot of tension on the bike is very knee friendly - it's usually part of the therapy for person recovering form knee surgeries.

  • Reading everyone's posts, I think my brain works differently. I weigh almost every day but only post the significant losses. The way my brain works - weighing daily keeps me accountable every day. If I only weigh once a week, I will know if I go off track early in the week I'll have "x" number of days to make up for not…

  • First I think you deserve a gold star. I have a few middle age people I know who have kidney disease and none have had the energy or stamina to do the exercise you are doing. I agree with the suggestion of a personal trainer. A good one should be able to help you develop a plan which will suit your specific needs.
  • Finally lost an elephant's penis. Hope I get to the gold brick before the end of the year!!!
  • I agree with the responders who recommended weighing your food. For example, the bananas I purchase from my local grocery store average about 140 grams per banana (without the peel) and not the 100 grams you are showing every day for bananas. So the thing which may help you the most would be concentrating on the diet and…
  • You can also steam or roast it then put it in the freezer for later use in soups, chili, casseroles, etc. I use it for soups throughout the year.
  • You can take any recipe for pumpkin and use sweet potatoes instead. Some people even use sweet potatoes to make soups. You can also use carrots recipes for souffles or carrot cakes and replace the carrots with sweet potatoes.
  • Notice the need to add some fat to my diet to keep things moving smoothly through my digestive track, but on the plus side, a pat of butter sure does taste good on the sweet potato.
  • Check the packaging to see if any thing has been added. Now days some companies inject flavor enhancers into the meat which increases the calories. That's the only thing I can think of which might effect the calories.
  • Think logically - you body absorbs calcium from milk, it absorbs the sugar in sodas, why wouldn't it absorb nutrients from a green smoothie. Next time as them what is their scientific proof of that statement.
  • Find a hobby or something to keep you busy in the evening so you don't think about food. That's what has been working for me. It could be a simple as reading a book, doing crafts, etc.

  • I periodically buy meat from a slaughter house, so I understand what you are asking. In the slaughter houses, the ground beef in the specials are often from various scraps of meat, thus it's not going to be lean like ground round. For bulk ground meat from the slaughter house, I usually use the entries with the higher fat…
  • Also, make sure you don't drop your calories too low. I try to get close to my MFP goals (not counting exercise calories) because if I don't then I get urges to eat and end up over eating. Also, I am using crafting and reading books as distractions when I get restless to help me avoid mindless snacking. Just take it one…
