I've had the Fitbit flex since Mother's day ( gift from my kids) I love it, I think it has been a big part of helping me balance my exercise and food intake. 10 lbs lost so far, half way to my goal of 20 lbs!!!

The way I look at it is that the days, weeks, and months are going to past anyway. Where do I want to be one month from now? How about 6 months from now or a year? The only way I'm going to get there is by making daily changes in my life. Focus on one day at a time and don't beat your self up if you have a "bad" day. You…

Trying finding an outlet mall that sells last years models. I usually get Saucony's because they fit me best. I've found a place that sells older models for less than 1/2 of new ones.

I'm trying for once a week. Between water fluctuations and a kind of wonky scale that will vary by as much as 3 lbs depending on how I'm standing on it I try not too get too stressed at the numbers and focus on the bigger picture instead. How my clothes are fitting and how I'm feeling is a good indication of my progress,…

How "old fashioned" I'd fit right in, must be a reason though......

I know weight lifting is more about increasing lean body mass than just burning calories, I just want to make sure I'm tracking things as well as possible so that I can meet my weight loss goals. So far so good. Any thought on the "metabolic effect" of weight lifting? i.e. that your metabolism is increased for several…

Thanks, that tool s very helpful!

Sounds about right for what I burn. Question though, even though the "burn" is less when lifting weights is there an increase in resting metabolism after? Not sure how to measure that but it seems like the weight lifting must have more effect than just the "calories burned"

I can't do a gym membership right now but I do have a home set up including free weights sets from 3-25 lbs, a barbell with weights up to 65 lbs, a step and a treadmill. Can you recommend any videos that do real weight training?

Ah the power of magical thinking! Someone once told me to write out what I wanted on a piece of paper then rip it up and throw it into the wind. If I really wanted it bad enough the "Universe" would then provide it to me. I don't know but it just sounded like littering to me

I've also heard the one about not eating carbs and proteins at the same time because they are digested by different enzymes which cancel each other out , but wouldn't that make you lose weight not gain it! LOL

Thanks, just got it!
