  • That's awesome! Congratulations on your accomplishment!
  • Feeling air between pants legs and skin. You don't know what that feels like if you are always stuffing yourself into your clothes.
  • I'd be happy to be an accountability buddy - add me if you like!
  • @ rabbitjb - You may be right. I worked with WebMD/CafeWell last year for my "get healthy" insurance incentive ($200) and the health coaches there said that seltzer was no better than soda as far as the calcium. I did not do my own research. Either way, it doesn't do anything for you nutritionally.
  • I stopped drinking diet soda because I read/heard that the taste of artificial sweetener made you crave sweets, and because soda leaches calcium from your body. I'll have a diet coke occasionally when I'm eating out as a treat. I like fizzy drinks though, so I drink more plain seltzer, which has the same effect on the…
  • 1/2 c. prepared steel cut oats - cinnamon, maybe a tsp or 2 of PB2 powder, or raisins or diced fruit AND 1/2 c. 0% plain Greek yogurt, either with fruit or 1 Tbsp. jam Coffee
  • Good for you! I'm 56 and as retirement gets nearer, I want to make sure I'm in as good a shape as I can be. Seeing the issues my parents have as they have aged is a good motivator too. It sounds like you made some tough decisions and I wish you the best of luck with your goals this year!
  • I started 2015 at 197 and got down to 172 by August, but just sort of maintained once school started up, and then slowly gained - was 179.6 this morning. I would like to see if I could get down to 165 by Feb. 14th.
  • I could use more accountability buddies. I've lost 15 lbs. since January and plan to keep going.
  • Feel free to add me as an accountability buddy! I teach middle school music in NJ, and teaching could take all the available time that I have to give it in a day. I am usually the first car in the parking lot in the a.m. and last one to leave at night, and hardly feel motivated to hit the gym or exercise at home after days…
  • I am down 12 pounds since the beginning of the year but it has been slow going the past two months. Hopefully this will give me the motivation I need to step it up a bit! Name: Janelle Age: 55 Height: 5'7" Start Weight (1st June): 185 Goal Weight (1st July): 178 1st June: 8th June: 15th June: 22nd June: 29th June: 1st…
  • In the evenings I like Good Earth's Sweet and Spicy tea. Only 6 calories.
  • Learned response or not, I do crave sweets and carbs when I am stressed. In my case, I was obese as a child so it's been a life long battle. I treated myself to a Dunkin' Donuts pumpkin latte last Fall, and it was super sweet. After the first sip, I was surprised at how much I just wanted to take sip after sip. I was…

  • Diane, I just want to say "go you" for tackling this issue at 22 yrs. old. I'm 55 and regret carry the extra 50+ pounds for so many years of my life. I had dropped my gym membership for two years but just joined a new one, so I'd like to join your group.
  • It's been a week so I'm checking in. I walked three of seven days, logged food some days and didn't others, and lost 3.6 pounds. We make most of the food we eat from scratch, and I find myself entering "generic" this and "generic" that, and there's no telling what recipe the person who entered that in the database used and…
  • This is my first post here and I'm happy to see a group for women over 50. I used MFP years ago to lose some weight, but over the past two years the weight has really been creeping up. The doctor said that if I diet and exercise the way I used to, I will still gain weight due to menopause - that it has to be more than…
  • I'd like to join, although this post is a week old already. I have a physical on 2/22, and it would feel great to have actually lost weight from the last time I was there two years ago! Current weight: 187.5 Goal by 2/28: 177 Exercise goal for the week: Spin on Monday, Butts 'n' Gutts on Thursday, Strength training on…
  • bumping for later!
  • I changed my goals to trying to drop 2 lbs. per week just so I could lose 10 lbs. in May, and this past week I lost 5! I was surprised, because most days I was over my calories by a little bit, and I even had a donut yesterday, and still dropped. It is motivating to read everyone's posts. Here's to week 2! We can do…
  • Right now my goal is to lose 30, but after that I will probably set a new goal to go lower, so feel free to add me as a friend.
  • I love it too! I don't have a lot of time to spend at the gym, so sometimes the elliptical is all I do, and I get a great workout. I was surprised to find that I can jog on it for 40 minutes. When I walk-jog around the lake, I can't seem to keep the jogging up for long at all.
  • Thanks for chiming in, everyone! I guess it has nothing to do with how much you weigh.
