Margareturk: love the garden photos, just what is needed this cold, grey, windy day! Still maintaining my set goals for this month, although because of the cold and strong wind yesterday, did walking inside a mall. Today is 2 hours of curling, so although it is cold, there is no wind! And the sweeping keeps one fairly…

Hello ladies. So far so good re my January goals re exercise and food portions. Tuesday will be a week since I restarted tracking after December off the web site (and which resulted in 4 pounds weight gain). Grey grey day today: after the freezing rain, we got plain rain rain rain. And they say snow is coming as the temp…

Mollywhippet / Sylvia: Re your 321 cake: about how many CAL would that be? I sometimes feel I need a sweet dessert which is not an apple and would like to try your suggestion. It sounds like just the thing!!! Tatiana in the Niagara Peninsula

Hello, I am new to this group (just found it). Not sure if I can continue to find it as I have only used this site to track... and so find it hard to "navigate" around. I live in the Niagara Peninsula region, am retired (over 60), a mother (he is launched), divorced, and am sorry my bike is put away for the winter months.…

One does not have to drink to the last drop each pour. I was in California last month (Sonoma and Napa) and I usually drank about half of each pour of one ounce (except for the pour of the $99 bottle of sparkling - so yummy).

If you want to continue following your sugars, dump the pineapple: stick with berries (blue, straw, rasp, black) and dump the juice:use water. Or, find a smoothie recipe which emphasizes veggies/greens and de-emphasizes the fruit.

Niagara Peninsula... wine country! Anyone from around this part of Ontario?

I agree re salt and its effects. Watch your intake. Also, do take body measurements once per week. I have flatlined re weight loss, yet lost an inch or two. Seeing that keeps me positive. Do you weigh yourself at the same day/time every week? I would recommend in the AM, after going to the bathroom and before breakfast.…

Just count in the calories and adjust other food/beverages. It will be fine.

Before I moved, I attended a very gentle aqua fit class... I had a knee injury at the time, so moving in water was good for me (and the knee = no pressure). There were a number of people in the class who were quite heavy: they all said they not only enjoyed the class, but felt it helped them get and keep active. And I…

Did your Dr. recommend going to a nutritionist? Perhaps consulting one might help re choice of food and especially meal planning? And take it one day at a time. Just because you might go "red" in a category one day by a few numbers, does not mean that over time there will be no progress. Congratulations on your progress so…

Fantastic story! Good on you. And, find a really good bra store where they have had training in measuring women so that they try on and buy the correct size. It can make such a difference! The bras there might be more expensive, but they are worth it, and with good care, can last 3-5 years or more depending on how you…

Weight in is on Friday mornings, after a visit to the bathroom, with no clothes on, and before a morning cup of coffee. Also take my measurements (6 of them) once per week, same time. Any more than that, I would go crazy. Friday seems to be the best day for me as it allows for "events" which often happen on the Friday -…

Go to a good bra speciality store and get properly fitted. This is super important. In Ottawa: BraChic. It is amazing how most women wear the wrong size. At BraChic, I bought not only regular (very pretty) bras that FIT me because they were the right size, but also a work out bra (sorry... tag is worn and I cannot remember…

They say around 10 pounds, but it varies person to person, according to the outfit (dress, jeans, suit), brand (some more forgiving than others), whether it is stretchy, what style (empire waist, wrap), etc. Do you take your measurements every week (chest, waist, hips, thighs, upper arms...)? Changes there would help show…

It is amazing how steps can add up... walking up and down the stairs at work, walking from a car parked far away from store, And dogs help: I took care of a sick friend's dog for a while and was out there at 7am (coffee in hand), several times during the day and the last walk at 10pm! Lots of exercise! Your attitude is…

Am not sure exactly how this works (groups - joining and reporting in) but am keen to try. My goal every day is a minimum of 60 minutes exercise and I usually hop on my bike for most of that.
