my boyfriend had a knee replacement a couple years ago. he is very active (plays soccer a couple times per week, weight lifting a few times per week)...going into the replacement he heard different things from different doctors - some suggest never squatting/running/playing sports again, but the surgeon he went to told him…

this! are you saying you want to lose 13lbs when you are now 125lbs at 5'6"?? because someone on youtube did??
-
IIFYM - eat whatever you like within your macros - enjoy the pizza!
-
yes to all this! the 'healthy' BMI category is a pretty large range - something like 40 lbs - hard to believe the poster above could be outside that range on the high end and looking sickly/unhealthily skinny as she said. As said above, BMI is a good range for the vast majority of people, but again as said above not…

I was turned off weight watchers forever years ago after my leader suggested I stop lifting weights in order to lose muscle (and therefore lose more weight) - she thought it would speed up my loss! I ran out of that office and never looked back!
-
agree with all this - but especially the bolded. it is funny how many people consider themself "big boned" or "highly muscled" - when that is not actually the case!
-
yup - as others said, "eating really well" means nothing in terms of weight loss. you need to be at a deficit and a kitchen scale can certainly help with that.
-
good news is you don't need exercise to lose weight - just be extra careful about your intake while eating in a deficit and you will lose over time.
-
even packaged stuff is often quite off, so even someone eating everything out of a package with serving size could benefit from a scale.
-
I'm curious about this too!!
-
not sure how this is relevant - just because your doctor recommended this for you, doesn't mean it is appropriate for the OP in any way.
-
too little for what? what are your goals?
-
um, what exactly does that mean? what kind of "male traits" are you hoping to develop in him??
-
you cannot spot reduce fat...you say you are counting calories, but do you weigh all of your food? "I don't always eat 1200 calories" does not tell us what you are eating - 2000? 1000? and again - how are you determining this amount?
-
doesn't "count" for what??? the answer to your question really depends on what you are trying to count it towards!
-
it is the calorie deficit that is making you lose - so you can be keto, paleo, 8 meals a day - whatever you want that keeps you in a deficit.
-
telling people to "think about the allowable amount of pus and blood per oz when you eat the cheese" doesn't count as preaching to others about the lifestyle? lol. ok then..
-
are you sure you are not doing any extra eating compared to before? are you saying you have compared your logs, eating the exact same as before, moving more and gaining??
-
can you open your diary?? most often people find issues in there that are accountable for the problem.
-
I was about to post exactly this - you came to a site based primarily around calorie counting. maybe you need to go on a water challenge site where you will find more support? I'm as confused as others as to why you won't return to the one thing that you said has worked in the past (and works in general) - calorie…
-
ok, ill bite - so what then is the answer??
-
so you are saying to all the people that have had success counting calories that they were wrong? that they should stop and just hope for the best (or let their body figure it out?) pretty ridiculous to post anywhere - let alone on a calorie counting website!

another vote (for anyone interested) for yin yoga. I am totally not a traditional yoga person and found a lot of the classes I tried way too much work (when I was looking more for relaxation/stretch/etc.) Once I tried yin yoga I was like this is it!!

I'm in the same boat - advanced osteoarthritis in both knees, need replacements, but they keep telling me to come back in 20 years! it is ridiculous to have to suffer through the "best" years of our lives, but I've spent years trying to find a doctor that will consider replacing my knees when I'm not even 40 yet. if you…

most people get to the point of losing weight by throwing caution to the wind (as you say) and just eating whatever and hoping for the best - not surprising that doing that would not end in weight loss for you. you say you have been tracking your food - but have you been weighing every single thing? big difference.
-
are you weighing every single thing you eat??

just started a couple weeks ago and I like certain types....not sure of all the names, but the one where you go through like 100 positions/poses in a class is not for me!! (i started going for a break/relief from all my usual workouts and going from one pose to the next every few seconds I just don't understand)...been…

wtf did i just read? he can cure his depression by cutting his calories in half? how do you figure that??

I regularly have stouffer's macaroni and cheese at work for breakfast - I get a few odd looks, but it is delicious and filling!
