  • If youre on a keto diet, your body could be going into ketosis. Results in you being pretty smelly as well as some nasty side effects for your organs.

  • Im roughly 6'0, sitting at 88kg. Goal is around 80, but i'm not concerned with weight so much as body fat. Currently body fat is around 30%, i'd like to be around 18-20%. I train 5 days a week, 3 days of resistance (push, pull, legs) 2 days of HIIT. Adding in swimming and some classes when uni goes back.

  • I laughed
  • I have hashimoto's too. I have lost 30kg in a year with good diet and exercise. I do a LOT of weight lifting, and cut gluten mostly out of my diet. I try to avoid milk, but still have cheese/yoghurt. I wouldn't recommend going too low carb - ketosis isn't great in general.
  • I understand HOW to do it, I just don't know if it's worth it haha. Last time I went grain free/dairy free it wasn't good and I don't want that to happen again.
  • Build your strength up. There are a lot of obstacles you will need to pull/push yourself over or through. Whenever I do mud runs I like to take a change of clothes, baby wipes, a snack bar and protein powder as well for after the race. Most trail shoes will be fine, I know some people who do it in those 5finger shoes. I…
  • Mostly peoples experiences going grain free. I didn't do so well on a grain free diet and am thinking of trying gluten free instead as I have hashimotos.
  • My new trainer isnt telling me what to eat, but is helping me guide myself away from my "comfort foods" (aka empty calories) and onto a cleaner diet that will support my training. I have been eating whole grains over processed grains for a while now but not sure whether a gluten free diet would be beneficial or if it's…
  • Yes, my new trainer is much better :) I am eating a similar style of diet, but he gives me much more flexibility. On the previous trainer's diet i wasnt even allowed cucumber because it "doesnt contribute anything to your body" :(
  • "You are what you consistently do". For me, I want to be healthy. I want my body to be healthy, I want my mind to be healthy. I have depression, and endorphins are my pick up of choice.
  • Yep, i was doing hard workouts. HIIT, kettle bells, weighted exercises, cardio.... No eating back of exercise calls. My diet looked like this: Meal 1: 3 egg omelete with unlimited greens cooked in evoo Meal 2: pre workout protein shake (protein powder, coconut or almond milk) Meal 3: Post workout shake (protein powder,…
  • I was on a meal plan by my old trainer, who insisted "paleo was the way". I had to eat specific meals at specific times. I probably was on a deficit as he believes everyone can live off a 1200cal diet. I cut out sugar, dairy, fruit and most carbs. While I understand this is not specifically "paleo", it has kind of put me…
  • I do a 6 day a week program. Sunday is my rest day. Monday, Wednesday, Friday I do a class focused around weighted exercises, tabata and endurance. Tuesdays right now I am doing 6 x 200m row sprints, then 10 squat thrusts, 5/arm snatch, 10 lateral hops over the dumbbell as many rounds as possible for 10 minutes, then…
  • If your pain is in your lower back just above your butt, it could be your hamstrings pulling. I get it from KB swings. Make sure you squeeze your shoulder blades together. I also have an extra "bone" at the base of my neck, and I squat with a high bar. I position the bars just below where my neck "starts" on my back. No…
  • Depending on your weight.. I would suggest building up your fitness before heading into heavy weights. I am fairly fit, and I incorporate weighted exercises into my "cardio". I do MAYBE 15 minutes of "cardio" a day, and these are usually sprints/tabata/HIIT style exercises, and a 5 minute warm up walk/jog. The rest of my…
  • I know the feeling - i still struggle with push ups, and i do a lot of strength training. You need to not only build your arms but your BACK and your CORE. Planks and mountain climbers are perfect for core, try doing tabata (20 seconds on, 10 seconds off. There are lots of free apps). You can also do halves; lie on the…
  • 1200 cal is how much a large dog eats a day. I know a lot of people say "well Michelle Bridges puts everyone on a 1200cal diet" and that's great, but it's not realistic. You should be eating AT LEAST your BMR which would be 1400-1600 for sure. I burn roughly 600-800 cal a day in my exercises and I eat between 1900-2200 cal…
  • I have been lifting in my nikes for a year (squats, deadlifts, lunges, cleans, KB work etc) with no problems?
  • I have the polar FT4 and i looooove it. Best training tool i've ever bought.
  • It depends on your definition of "clean". I define clean as proteins, fruits, veg, nuts, legumes, low-fat dairy and whole grains. I have heard of people eating clean and not counting their calories. I personally do, because you can definitely over eat on the good things, especially grains and dairy. I know a lot of my…
  • For my entire weightloss journey, I haven't restricted what I eat. If I want cake, I have it. If I want fried chicken, I have it. If i want a bowl of creamy pasta (my FAVOURITE!) I have it!. I just have it in MODERATION. Small servings, and healthy choices for the rest of the day. I've lost 15kgs so far, and havent denied…
  • PUSH UPS. PUSH UPS PUSH UPS PUSH UPS PUSH UPS PUSH UPS.
  • On my ride today i had a sharp pain when going up a hill. Will rest it tomorrow for sure; hopefully it's nothing serious.
  • No numbness at all. Today my tailbone is a bit sore when sitting down too. I have started sleeping with a heat pack on my tailbone at night which helps as i stand all day at work.
  • The only specialty bike store near my is westwood cycle; and they never said anything about getting it fitted when i took it there for a service, and told them id bought it off craigslist. They also only recommended me the most expensive product that they have.
  • No; i bought the bike on craigslist. I've had the bike serviced but they didnt say anything about getting it fitted.
  • Yes my sit bones have well and truly healed. Definately a butt callus happening there haha. Just my tailbone! I will pop over to atmosphere today and check out their seats. Just concerned i could be doing permanent damage to my spine in the time it will take for me to get the extra money.
