  • I'm a fan of Nuun tablets, they dissolve in water, aren't super sweet or sugary. I don't handle sugary stuff well on my long runs and these work well for me.
  • I'd say you're doing too much, too soon. I'd definitely go to your local running store and see what they recommend. You may also want to check out the C25K running program.
  • I'm not really a fan, but it is cheap. This last winter was we got a ton of snow in New England. At one point the PF I go to had about 6-8 broken treadmills. One day I was leaving and heard a guy asking when they were going to be fixed. The response was, "not until spring when everyone takes their running back outside." I…
  • New to the running challenge. My goal is 56 miles for July.
  • I have a Garmin Forerunner 110 that I like a lot. It's not the fanciest, but it didn't break the bank either. I love it, it tracks my pace, distance, heart rate and calories burned.
  • I'm 40 and have about 20 left to lose. I've gotten rid of almost 60 already.
  • Hi! Congrats on 40! I hit it in November! MFP makes it so much more managable!
  • People have noticed! In my office, that can be a taboo topic, so a lot of people don't say anything. I have a friend that never says anything unless the person states they are trying to lose weight, the concern is that they may be losing for other reasons, such as illness.
  • Oh my does this thread crack me up! I used to work across the street from a strip club in New Orleans. They parked in the garage behind my building so we got to know some of them. They came in all sizes (as in sticks to curvy), but they were all in good shape and had a lot of stamina.
  • I'm currently training for a marathon in October. My run distances vary based on the training program. Monday: Off Tuesday: Run, squats and plank Wednesday: Cross Train (usually bike or spin class or swimming) and weights Thursday: Run- speed work Friday: Cross Train and/or yoga Saturday: Long slow run- this varies…
  • Honestly, I'd opt for being the weird one again and make yourself something healthy. You don't like Chinese food, so why eat something you aren't going to enjoy? I wouldn't even address the healthy aspect, just simply state you don't like Chinese food and leave it at that. I don't eat it unless I make it at home because I…
  • Congratulations! I did it about two years ago and never looked back. It's an excellent way to start running regularly. :-) Keep going! Running has become a huge part of my life now.

  • I've lost 55lbs over the last 18 months and about 45 of those are from running as my main exercise. I also track my calories here pretty religiously and do some core work. I'm currently training for a marathon and running about 4 days a week, cross training 2 days a week and doing strength training 4 days a week. I've…
  • Yep, me too! The runner in me isn't complaining, the girl in me that enjoys having some cleavage is not amused. LOL
  • Clearly you do not know what "Novella" means since you think it's racist. Definition: a work of fiction intermediate in length and complexity between a short story and a novel Has NOTHING to do with your race. It's an Italian word for a literary type of fiction.
  • No, what Chris did was manipulate you. He played you to get what he wants. Honestly, if you have to ask if he's your soulmate, he's not. He sounds manipulative and controlling. There is no magic number to finding your spouse. You're 26, enjoy life, date, live, work, play, and along the way you'll meet someone fantastic.…
  • Check secondhand consignment shops and ebay. You might be able to get one for cheap. Is there anyone that you could borrow one from for the month? Check Craigslist too. I took January off (ran once all month) due to a wicked cold and then some kind of flu. I definitely noticed a loss, but I bounced back much quicker than I…
  • Large companies usually have ethics departments that you can contact anonymously. Whistle blower laws are also there to protect you if the actions are outright illegal.
  • I'm 39, most people seem to think I'm in my late 20's or early 30's.
  • I did a 3mi run (took the short loop due to my friends shin splints) in Boston on Tuesday with a huge group, The Kier Byrnes Freedom Runners and the Cambridge 5k group. Here's a write up on it from Esquire.com, my friend and I were both quoted. http://www.esquire.com/blogs/politics/boston_the_runners?src=soc_fcbks I'm…
  • Oh how I miss LA! I'm from Nola, but I live in Boston now and booze isn't sold in our groceries either, except for rare excpetions that have a liquor license. You have to go to the package store here for booze. They call them a Packie. I spend between $70-100 a week for me. I eat out maybe once a week, other than that, I…
  • I have the slim wrist version with the online/interactive data feature. Love it.
  • I ran my first in November and am gearing up for another in May. Congratulations! The couch to half program is really good. I had less time than you do to train (15 weeks) so those extra 9 weeks will help a lot. Definitely go slow and listen to your body. Also, make sure you get fitted for good shoes. Hit a running store…
  • There's a reason a friend of mine renamed it the "dreadmill." I hate running on one and much prefer to run outside. I thought I was just weird not being able to run as far on a TM as I can outdoors. Someone mentioned gyms are warmer and air doesn't move much in the winter in the gym. I'd never thought about that, but it's…
  • Is that 3 to 5 hours of exercise a day??? Or a week?
  • You may want to keep an eye on your sodium levels too. A quick peek at your journal and I am seeing a lot of packaged/processed foods. That can mean a lot of sodium.
  • You aren't eating enough. I had this issue over the summer. After reading some articles and wearing a Body Media, I upped my calories and started losing and lost about 20lbs pretty quick.
  • This! Because after you're dead might be yucky for the tat artist. :-P
  • I use Stevia all the time, have been for about 5 years now. No side effects for me. I get the liquid drops for iced tea in the summer. I use the packets for coffee/tea. I can't taste a difference, though I don't think it's as sweet as Splenda, which I actually like.
