  • The nutrition label says a scoop is 21.5 grams. I'd measure that out on a food scale .
  • This. I just recently started this after a friend suggested it to me. Knowing how much extra time I'll have to spend exercising to burn off that one cookie is helping.
  • I'm on the Northshore!
  • I would check with your doctor if you are concerned. I don't think it's an issue. When I run, mine will spike up into the high 160's- usually I stay around 150-160 during my runs (run w/ some walking periods) but if I push harder or go up a large hill, it spikes. I personally think it is good for your over all cardio…
  • The C25K program is excellent to start running. I think your pushing too far too fast. I've had shin splints myself, not fun. I second what katcod1522 said, ice and more intervals. It sounds like your shoes are from a running store, but if not, I highly recommend getting fit at a good store.
  • Can you get up early to do it in the living room? The garage is another option if you have a laptop
  • I'm starting tonight! My husband did his Fit Test this morning and was drenched. I'm looking forward to doing it after work. We took our before pics and measurements last night.

  • I've not tried the Shakeology, but 2 friends swear by the stuff. In my experience with working out, I either maintain or even gain the first couple of weeks. Always. Then, usually after 2 weeks, I start dropping again. Have you taken your measurements? I'd recommend that too, sometime the scale doesn't move, but that…
  • Road running is a lot different than treadmill running. It uses more muscles and is tougher on your feet, ankles and knees. Once you build up though, your feet, ankles and knees will be stronger. I highly recommend the couch to 5k program, it really helps. I love running outdoors so much more than on the "dreadmill."
  • Have you done Couch to 5K? My husband did it and now runs a 5k in about 29 minutes. He's now trying to increase speed, so he's using C25K again, only now he's doing the running segments at a much faster rate, then walks/slower runs the walk segments, the kicks it up to a fast speed again for the next running portion. It's…
  • Photography is my hobby. One day I'll have the guts to take the plunge and make it my profession. Talent- does being a b!*ch count as a talent? If so, that's my talent!
  • This is my plan too. I have a large frame, and somewhere under all my fat, I've got quite a bit of muscle too. For me, 180 was what my doctor recommended after doing body fat testing.
  • The dietician I met with said no, they aren't bad for you when combined with a healthy, well balanced diet. She told me, "no one gets fat from eating too many apples." The fiber fills you up, but also prevents the fruit sugars from giving you that blood sugar jump that leaves you sluggish and hungry for more when it drops.
  • I get this too! It's the most back handed compliment ever! My great-grandmother never weighed less than 300lbs as an adult (I know she was even bigger when she was younger) and growing up she used to go on and on about how pretty my skinny cousin was when we were kids. Then she'd go on and on about how fat I was- I wasn't…
  • I used to live in Bywater when I lived in Nola. I loved my house, neighbors and neighborhood. I didn't like the criminal element that came around. As a result, I never ran in the neighborhood unless my husband was with me. Or my dogs. I have 2 big dogs, so just the site of them would cause the criminals to cross the street…
  • I run a 12 minute mile. I'm a slow runner, but I consider myself a runner.
  • Boston, MA
  • You can be photographed on a public street without your permission. What they cannot do is use those images of you for profit without your permission (unless you are a public figure, then all bets are off).
  • I use YSL Top Secret for my primer, it's a pore refining lotion that I'm in love with. I use Trish McEvoy Portable Foundation for a cream to powder for a light foundation. If I want full coverage, I use Estee Lauder Double Wear. My recommendation is to go someplace that will give you a sample that will last you several…
  • I've picked up an some cute bento boxes on Amazon for cheap. Laptop lunchboxes look pretty handy too. http://www.amazon.com/Zojirushi-SL-XB20HG-Classic-Stainless-Steel-Lunch/dp/B000246GSO/ref=pd_sim_k_23 I have this one and like it a lot.
  • Stick with as much fresh veg, fruit, etc as possible. Keep an eye on foods that say "low fat" too, they often replace the fat with sodium. I either make my own or get the full fat and use less. I find the flavor is stronger, so I use less. Processed foods are full of sodium, such as rice dishes, dressings, sauces, lunch…
  • I usually lose about 20lbs before I need a new pant size. I think it all depends on height, muscle mass, how you carry your weight, etc. My mom can lose 10lbs and drop 2 pant sizes, I lose 20lbs and barely drop one.
  • I used to live in New Orleans (originally from California) and 2 years ago I moved to Boston. I love it! You get 4 seasons and there are tons of outdoor winter activities. Hubby and I are going to try cross country skiing this winter. I will say that coming from the deep south, I did invest a lot of $$$ in winter clothes…
  • I use a HRM and find that the calories burned on it are usually closer to MFP's than the treadmill.
  • I wouldn't wory about it, if you do get a complaint, then reasses. Do you have carpet? That right there is a sound dampener. If you think it's a problem, you might want to check out a foam mat to put on the floor before you exercise. When you live in an apartment, you know you are going to have more noise. Honestly, I…
  • I've never had one done, but I have photographed them. That's an AWESOME deal and I'd go for it!!
  • Oats are a definite. I get Trader Joe's Pumpkin Butter and add 1T. of the pumpkin butter. Yum! I've also added Stevia and pumpkin pie or apple pie spice, depending on my mood. Soups are great for healthy eating! You can use chicken stock or vegetable stock and load it up with tons of veggies. You can have a slice of whole…
  • Not a personal trainer, but I have a couple of friends that were in college. They are in the business of selling you their services, not telling you that what you are currently doing is going to get you there too and to keep going. They want you to pay them to get you in shape. I've not done p90x, but I've seen amazing…
  • I do all three to cross train. I used to run very regularly, but got out of it, now I'm getting back to running. I use the elliptical and bike to cross train for my cardio. I'm adding in weights to the mix too starting this week.
  • I live in Burlington. I love walking around in Salem!
