This will be my first winter as a cyclist so I am pretty concerned! I am finishing a construction project for work so the work days are getting longer and the sun is setting earlier. I'm looking for a Kurt Kinetic road machine on Craig's list. I also am putting winter gear on my list for Santa. This week I only managed 2…

Thanks TBY and everyone for organizing this event. I really enjoyed the friendly competition and the motivation. My cycling fitness has come a long way and where I used To cringe when thinking of climbing I now embrace the challenging hills! Thank you for the addiction!

Team 4, It seems the past 2 weeks long work hours and the sun going down earlier have conspired against me. I really would like to have logged more miles and climbed many more feet. I do feel however that you have all inspired me greatly and my cycling fitness as a noob has increased quite a bit in the past 3 weeks. I will…

I cleaned up my 16 year old big box store mountain bike and started riding about 3 months ago the same time I started MFP. I caught the bug I love to ride. I started at 200 lbs and now I'm at 178! The bike had now problem holding my weight. bikedorums.net has a section called "clydesdales" for riders over 200 lbs lots of…

Team #4 I'm sorry for my lack of riding this week. I commute 2 hours to work and I have been getting home later than usual. First week of school for the kids as well. I'll be riding tonight, Sat and Sunday! It is amazing How the roller coaster of emotions are for a challenge like this! I started off very strong and was…

Sorry to hear about your health issues! Get yourself well and don't worry about this!

There is an error on the spreadsheet! Someone entered rider #327 ride for 9/2 under my name. I did not ride today and probably will not be able to because i am working late and have a 2 hour commute home.

Life gets in the way occasionally for some of us as well. I ended up working late yesterday and it was one of those things that was not planned and could not be avoided! Hang in there team #4 i have some decent rides planned for this weekend.

For me sugar is like everything else! Ok in moderation. I use 1 sugar in my coffee. I drink about 3 cups of coffee a day. Most of the other sugar in my diet comes from fruit. I do not like the taste of artificial sweeteners. I have lost 20 pounds and for this to be a lasting change for me and not a "diet" I have to enjoy…

While adjusting my front derailed at 10pm last night the old Shimano Altus C50 shifter broke! The internal piece of plastic cracked in half. I will probably borrow my wife's MTB for a few rides and get mine fixed up ASAP. Considering my bike is from the the 90's and It's only recently seen heavy use I have a feeling I…

I started riding my mountain bike the same time I started using MFP. First couple rides were at a liesurely pace for around 10 miles. Now I'm riding 4 or 5 times a week up to 25 miles per trip. I've lost 20 pounds in 70 days between the riding and improved eating habits using MFP. Starting to be able to climb decent hills…

Started riding my bicycle when I started MFP and now I'm addicted to riding.

I have been incorporating more climbing into my rides I am surprising myself with being able to peddle longer up the hills and being able to climb hills in the second lowest gear as opposed to the first. I'm getting better at it and I truly enjoy the fast descents after the climb!

I had a 20" Redline when I was a kid! I rode that thing everywhere. The old man grew tired of my brother and I breaking the frames on Schwinns with all the jumping we did so he brought us to the closest LBS and purchased a Redline each for my brother and I.

My first order of business is to buy a proper pair of bike shorts! Riding in basketball shorts finally caught up with me yesterday. Luckily it was very slight and is all cleared up this morning.
