10k charity walk today. I so wanted run it LOL. As soon as I saw the run pack take off, I almost started to run, but knowing of my knee injury I held back and walked the 10k with my wife. Her 1st 10k walk. Took over 2 hours but at least I got some walking in, the knee started feeling stiff going down hill. So I've decided…

Well I tryed running 5k tonight. As soon I went into running mode I couldn't last more than 100m. The pain in the left knee kept popping up, so I walked a bit then tryed to run again, but the pain returned. So I walked 1k lol and did some stretching and strength exercises. I guess I should get it checked out since its been…

No run today. I've decided not to run the rest of the week till maybe Friday evening. Trying not to agrevate the knee and would like to run/walk the 10k charity event this weekend. Am working on strength in my abductors and adductors and the Glutes. My *kitten* hurts . Was able to do single leg squats on both legs with no…

No running today, as my left knee still "achy" but not sore. Did 5k bike and 1k on the gazelle and stregnth training on the legs and glutes. I have found out that I have no balance on one leg. Example one legged squat or dead lift. I pretty much topple over LOL.

Well looks like the 10k charity run comming up on the 23rd is up in the air. My left knee is still very tender. the pain is not quite the same as the ITBS I had last weekend in my right knee. if the pain persists past tomorrow I may have to go to the doctor. Hopefully nothing is torn cause that would be just plain BAD!!…

Well showed up at the running club for the 1st time and was told that mostly walkers come out on Sundays and runners come out Wednesday evenings LOL. So about 8 walkers took off and I was left running alone again LOL. At least I ran a new route. Only thing it was very "hilly". My left leg took a pounding this time at the…

Here's a little quote :) "Running Is The Easy Part" "Getting Up At 6 am On A Sunday F'N Sucks" This is so true LOL. Have a great day all.

The week after a 1/2 marathon is mainly for recovery where you are too just rest, but for me its hard to stay still but I forced myself to take an "easier" week from running. There's mixed opinions on the following week after a 1/2, some people say take the week off from any type off running and cross train or strength…

No running today but did some work on my abductors and adductors and glutes. My "Buns" are sore now LOL. Tomorrow will be a 5-10k run. I'm going out to a local run club for the first time, this will be my first "real" run since the 1/2 Marathon. @gabella0603, I'm hopping that the strength training will help balance my…

Well the plan was to lay off running for a few days but, of course the urge to get back at it is too great LOL. But I only did a quick 2K since I only had 1 rest day after the 1/2. Also started back on the weights and incorporated some agility work for my knee, and some abductor and adductor workouts with resistance bands,…

Just finished my 1st ever 1/2 Marathon yesterday 8) completed in 2:02:55 (chip time). I used Novice2 on the Hal Higdons site, helped me train for it. Most important thing is get fitted shoes and your "gate" checked. No use in training with bad shoes. Your weekend runs are where you wanna up the mileage, and these are the…

I pushing for sub 2 hours also. I have to seriously work on strengthening my hams and quads and abductors. the more I read about knee issues, they say its due to inbalance or weak muscles. I purposely cut the leg strength training out 3 months prior to my 1/2 thinking it would impede me LOL I was wrong LOL.
-
My 3 runs during mid week are 5k/8k/5k and weekend run is at least 10K pending on how I feel. I'm seriously thinking on another local half on September 7th this year, which gives me 4 months to train and the early bird registration goes right to September 4th. So I think I'm going to train for that and if something happens…

Is it just me but did any of you feel like you want to run another 1/2 marathon after you just did yours recently? Obviously not right away LOL but down the road sometime. Knowing that I can do it now with some heart to overcome the pain LOL. I have the urge to try and beat my time, especially with some more knowledge…
