  • I used Hal Higdons Novice 1 for my 1/2 back in May, came in at 2:02:55 1st ever 1/2 marathon, my 2nd is in 2 weeks and looking to break 2 hours. DO NOT skimp on shoes as many have sai, it sucks running with blisters, your LONG run is the key!!! slow and long , don't worry about pace, get your legs use to the long distances…
  • I used Hal's Novice 1 for my 1st back in May...2 weeks till my 2nd half and am planning to PR this 1/2. I agree no need to run 5 days a week, I tried that and had trouble with recovery times. I now run 4 times. Tuesday is my Tempo as i'm uping my pace, Wednesday is a 10k 1/2 pace run, Thursday is a 6 mile pace run, and…
  • I wear a Fuel Belt, 3 bottle option. holds about 750ml of water usually lots for me on normal days. I think the bottles are 7oz each. Has a pouch for my gel/gels, just added a larger pouch to hold my key and ID for the races. I barely notice the Fuel Belt while running.
  • I agree with The Running Room store. They have Clinics, though you have to pay for. Here they have a free running group mid week and on weekends. I dropped from 280+lbs to 155ish lbs within a year and ran my 1st 1/2 marathon in just under 2hr3min. This was way faster than any of my training runs that I ran alone all the…
  • I also unlike most use a gel on my long runs and 1/2. GU chocolate is my favorite and the caffeine deffinitly gives me a boost.
  • I have my 2nd 1/2 Mid September, did my 1st May of this year. My goal this round is to get under 2hours as I was at 2:03:15 and thats with a knee injury kicking in during the last 5k and being deathly ill in the last 3 weeks before the event. I used Hal Higdons Novice 2 program. I usually run a 5/10/5 (KM), Tues/Wed/Thur,…
  • Well I'm on my last day of holidays :'( but it was nice in Niagara Falls. I ran 3 times while down there all at a faster pace than normal. i think it was a total on 18-19km over the 3 runs. Was gonna do a long run today as my schedule calls for it but I think I'll do a 5km later this evening when it's not so hot and enjoy…
  • 4.56km 26:56. Start my vacation tomorrow and heading to Niagara Falls on Sunday. Plan on doing some nice morning runs before everyone wakes up in the room.
  • 6.89km, 37:49 :)
  • 10.26km in 1:01:46,was a nice breezy evening run :)
  • Well plan was to run 15km today but no go 8-(. woke up and couldn't bend right leg, sore knee, not the ITBS problem though. The humidity here is bad and is probably an arthritis thing. My old body isn't liking it LOL. maybe a 5k run later tonight if my leg heals today.
  • 10.26km in 1:03:17. Went out at 12pm, of course hottest part of the day LOL. Drank way too much water on the run and was 'Sloshing" around in my stomach LOL. Felt good though to sweat LOL
  • 7.8k in 46:33. No knee pain. I think I find if i don't take time to properly stretch including foam rolling my legs before my runs, my knee starts acting up
  • Well only did 7k 42min today as I felt a "twitch" in the knee and don't want to push it.
  • 5.03km in 27:47. Little speed work, well speed work for me LOL. Tomorrow due to Canada Day 8-), i'm going for a nice 10k run. Slower pace for endurance rather than speed.
  • Well this is the week I get my *kitten* back in gear. Being off for a month from my knee caused me to slack off and the motivation to run dropped or finding excuses not to run. I'm 11-12 weeks out from the September 1/2, if I plan on doing it I start training this week.
  • Ran 4.83K 26:49 8-)
  • 10.06K in 62:19. Pain free in the knee area :) Lets see if the DOMS kicks in later LOL
  • ran 5k. Decided to try and do a little speed work and finished 29:09. Knee is fine, can feel the legs though, have to get them use to running again LOL. But this is GOOD pain LOL
  • I usually run Wednesdays but holding back to try and ease back into running. Run tomorrow 5-10k hopefully
  • I plan on a half in September hopefully.
  • 5K outdoor run today. Just under 30minutes, NO PAIN. but my cardio is way off LOL. I guess being off for almost a month will do that to yyour cardio.I'm just happy to be running again 8)
  • No running today. 5K planned tomorrow after work. Hopefully no pain in knee.
  • Well we'll see what happens. I will keep foam rolling to take out any knots, it literally almost brought me to tears working some of the knots out. Next 5k run will be Tuesday evening. We'll see how that goes.
  • After some intense foam rolling today on my left leg. Found a nasty knot in my TFL and Peroneus Longus (Lets just say outer part of calf muscle LOL) I decided to try and run and BAM!!!!. 5K in 29:20...and not a F'n twitch in my knee area....I'M BACK B!TCHES ...sorry that in no means meant to be insulting to anyone...just a…
  • 5k...well ran about 2k until my knee gave out...walked 3k to home 8(. This is getting frustrating and am slowly loosing motivation to run, I think next step is a visit to the Dr for xrays or MRI on my knee. I've been foam rolling, strengthening and visits to the Physiotherapist and still same intense pain.
  • I have the motivation, but my body, specifically the IT Band is not cooperating. Have upgraded to a GRID foam roller and man does it dig in LOL. Put the Physio on hold, at $70 a visit, 2 times a week is burning a hole in the pocket.
  • Well i ran/walked 5k in 37minutes. Probably against my PT, now my knee hurts a little.
  • Slow 6k as knee still bothersome :'( . Went to PT today, she worked my hips and knees.
  • Well almost made 1k today until my left knee started to "twitch" so I stopped and jumped on the bike and did that for 30 minutes. 2 minutes at a general pace then 1 minute at 85% max heart rate. That $h!t made me sweat more than I do when I run outside :o But it felt good to sweat and get my heart rate going after resting…
