I own a gym. She knows she is invited. That's why I have started community walks and runs, so that people don't think I'm just trying to get them to join my gym.

I was thinking the same thing, but I think she is really just complaining about her cold. One time she talked about running, and asked for advice on how to get started. I cheered her on, and as a personal trainer, I gave her some information about an easier program. I didn't address her weight issue, but I did tell her…

you look like a superstar celeb!

For those of you who can't find anyone to go with you, where are you? I'll go! Sorry, gushing again. And for those who didn't like Crowe, I didn't expect much from him, musically, so I was o.k. with it. It wasn't perfect, but the surprises made up for the parts I didn't like. So -4+10=6 stars! I agree, Oscar potential…

wow...Aaron Tvevit....and they say musicals are for wimps. Did you hear how Hugh Jackman said his training for this role was tougher than training for Wolverine.

I heard an interview from they guy playing Marius (Eddie Redmayne) that his agent told him about the upcoming film version of the musical. He had first seen it on stage when he was 7. Eddie was on a set dressed as a cowboy when he was called about Les Miz. He went to his trailer, still in costume, took his iphone, and…

My kids came all the way from out of state, and came and saw it with me. That movie is the reason I had my kids for Christmas this year. We all saw it together, and we all loved it. Then I went and saw it with friends. What a refreshing change from most of the stuff coming out of Hollywood in the last few years.

How about Eponine and Marius? I expected Eponine to be great, since she did it in London and sang on the 25th anniversary, but Marius blew me away on "Empty Chairs and Empty Tables". I never cared about Marius during the stage productions I saw, but this Marius played it just right and sang beautifully. I loved ALL the…

2 miles in 10 minutes, then 2.25 in 10 minutes today? Don't want to burst your bubble, but if you can run that super fast, and increase that much in a few days, something doesn't sound right. If that is right, you should probably start training for the Olympics. When You are ready to try it outside, let me know, I…

Sorry, but life is not fair, and you aren't walking in his shoes. You don't know how he sees things. And you don't know what the boss sees as his contributions. I had two very different employees who started "complaining" about each other. I told them both the same thing. "you have your strengths and your weaknesses." I…

I was looking for something to send my daughter who is running her first 10 k tomorrow. This is perfect! She had signed up to do a half marathon with me. then she had an accident in her kitchen that sliced that back of heel wide open, requiring stitches. She had been training for months, and this happened only weeks before…

Thanks for sharing. Great pics, even the befores!

And here's another example, as my friend was saying he uses. http://www.amazon.com/Smartwool-PhD-Running-Micro-Socks/dp/B004L48VZC

nwhitley, read this. He is one of my pals and lives in a very hot humid climate. It really does help insulate against heat, and pull sweat from body. Check these out. These are what I wear. They won't be too hot, I promise.…

Also, I went backpacking with some very seasoned backpackers, who put in easily 50 mile plus weeks of hiking. They had never heard of it. They used mine, and they admitted it worked really well.
-
I used it on a hike, in the heat, and was out there for 11 miles, with lots of side trips, so it was all day. I think the wool socks helped a great deal too. I have also done a couple 1/2 marathons, and got no thigh chafing at all, when I used it. Maybe some brands are better than others.

I use a stick or I guess you might say solid. I actually use Secret unscented.

That's a toughy. Because I don't know how it would work in the water. As far as restoring your skin, a visit to your dermatologist might be the trick. I had an exzema type problem with my eyelids this last fall, and everyone kept telling me what to try. Someone even suggested I might have shingles. I only have catastrophic…

Thanks for backing it up. The wool socks are cushiony, insulating, and very dry wicking. Wool is the perfect natural fiber for sweaty feet that, and also fighting the weather elements. I wore them today running in cold rain...yes, it's raining in Washington today, in the 50's....but I digress. The wool socks ABSOLUTELY…

I'm allergic to medical tape, and I get rashes from it. Antipersperant is much more comfortable and affordable. just sayin
-
Two things: 1. How quickly are you increasing your running? How much are you increasing it? 2. A trick I learned from my employee who places in most running races. She and I both run a lot, and we are both trainers....but here's the tip. Use antipersperant all over your feet, and in between your toes. Then get cushioned…

wow, glad you got that taken care of! My daughter has asthma. I should have thought to tell her of that, but I don't sense the poster has this problem.

I personally don't use one, but some of my clients do. I think if you do NOT know your true VO2 max, then you should try the "talk" test. Then correspond the numbers with the hr monitor to get a better idea. Then if it's worth it for you, wear it.

brussel sprouts with dijon mustard and sundried tomatoes

Ture that! For example, my husband is an elite cyclist. He easily can maintain a hr of 180-190 for a good length of time, and he's 53. According to a chart or a general stat on a hr monitor, he should be training at 120-140. But that is way too easy for him. I trained a very active 82 year old woman. According to the hr…

That's why you need to assess your intensity. If it's telling you 90%, it's giving you age adjusted, which is general and may not be accurate. You need to figure out how hard YOU are working through your own assessment of your own exertion level. Also, hr monitors can sometimes not accurately pick up your changes. Pay…
-
You could not possibly be working at your true 90% the entire time, only on intervals which is fine. Usually people can maintain 90% for about a minute or 2 at the most, then they have to decrease their intensity long enough to recover. 90% according to the charts is not always accurate. It has much more to do with than…

And to add further, I own a gym. I have actually had people cancel their gym membership and tell me that their new "cleansing diet" (avialable through various multi level supplement plans) is making it too hard to do a "gym workout". They'll say, "I'll just walk for a while." Then a few months later they are back, done…

Was this a "registered" dietician or just someone who is a nutritionist? I'm not trying to be rude, but this sounds way wrong to me if your dietician told you to only eat 1200 calories, no more. I am personal trainer. The code of ethics I sign to keep my certification only allows me to refer to registered dieticians. And I…
