I agree with everyone else. Congrats on quitting. Running is a learned exercise. Try a couch to 5k app, like the one from zenlabs. It's free and will have you well on your way to becoming a runner. Even people who never smoked still have to put an effort into running. Best of luck to you!

Congrats!! Proud moment for sure! Best of luck with your 5k, they are amazing!!

This thread has been pretty quiet? Where are all our runners?? Did my first official 5k this past weekend in Ottawa at the Canada Army Run! What a great event! It was a very proud moment for me as I ran the entire thing. I have done many 5k runs but was always interval running so this one was my big goal after completing…

Is that the bullet proof coffee I keep reading about? This is the same response my relative gave also...

It was worth it

LOL, Great responses, it's actually a written article not a video. I have a relative that had plateaued on her weight loss journey and started this new fad diet and 'claims' to have already started losing again. Just wanted to see how others who may have more knowledge than myself felt about this whole idea...

Hi everyone!!! I just finally graduated from the C25K program and am excited to move on to my 10k goal!
-
Finished my graduation run on Friday!! I was a slacker and took a week here and there off for holidays etc. but I finally completed the program!! Super excited and ready to 'try' to move on to training for 10k.

I finally get to add my name here!!! Woohoo, finished my graduation run Friday morning. Got up at the crack of crow pee so I used to cool weather to my advantage and threw on my shoes. It was sprinkling rain when I left and half way through my run it just started pouring LOL Had to keep wiping away the rain to be able to…

Thanks!! Fingers crossed ;)

So I've been slacking off the last few weeks. I went out for my graduation run and whammo. I hit the wall 20 minutes in and that was all she wrote. I had to walk the rest of the way home. I had been doing quite well with the runs. I had to give it my all for the runs leading up to this one but I was very disappointed with…

Awesome! Thanks :)

You really changed that much in just 4 weeks? That is incredible. Would you share your training plan? Oops my bad, didn't see the 1 so 41 weeks, still amazing!
-
I think you may be setting yourself up for a goal that is not realistic. I think by the end of your timeline, you will definitely be able to run a 5k though!
-
Totally in. These posts are inspiring and are making me want to start lifting!

Week 8 Day 2 complete!! Woohoo!!!! So close to the end!!!

AND done. Week 8 day 2 in the bag :) Got rained on for half the run but heck, that's all part of the experience right? So proud of everyone on this thread who are getting out and getting 'er done
-
Hoping the rain holds off. It's a nice cool day, perfect for a run! Planning on completing week 8 day 2 today if the weather holds out. So close to the finish line!!
-
Congrats!! I know I'm only at week 8 (28 minute runs) and even my kids said wow mom, I'm surprised you survived that run LOL So I can only imagine how tough the 30 minutes will be. I feel also that I will be falling short of the 5k especially since you have the 5 minute warm up in the beginning also. I look forward to…

Wow, not to sound stupid, but I didn't even know the Zenlabs calculates calories burned on it's own. I assumed it was this site that did it also LOL I too use Mapmyrun at the same time and never really compared. Guess I should look into it. As for the music, I usually bring up the music then I hit the playlists button at…

I use the Zenlabs C25K app and it tells you at the half way mark so you can turn around. It's free and might be worth downloading ;)

Week 8 Day 1 completed today. It was a toughie after a week of no running (holidays and slacked off) Hot temps made it a struggle but I made it!!! My body was pained though once I started my cool down. All I could say was holy *kitten* once it kicked in. All good now though and off to ribfest with the kiddies. I think I…

If you get cramps, puff them out kinda like the breathing techniques they teach you for labour if that makes sense.

Agree with all the other posters. Keep pushing on and it will get better and better! SIGN UP!!! You won't regret it. It's an amazing experience!!
-
Everyone has given you fantastic advice!! Follow it, don't give up, the beginning is the hardest and feel free to add me. I'm on week 8 of the C25K app but am always finding motivation in watching others strive and meet there goals!!
-
How does the Whey powder hold you back? I usually add it to mine also but am interested to know why maybe I shouldn't...
-
^^This! It works amazingly EVERY TIME  BTW, this entire thread makes me laugh. Oh the things people will do to peel an egg ;)
-
I'd like in, though I may be mia the first week as we are off to a reunion and holidays, but I will attempt to check in if I have service :)
