Thanks for your "help", but I think you missed the point. Let's use a message posted upthread, as an example: 'I eat lots of carbs/protein/fat... it is not cutting carbs or fat etc.. it is CICO. The reason these diets work for people is CICO but the reason they can stick with them is because they feel satisfied and not…

What about trying to speak English instead of using acronyms?

Perhaps, but if it is true that the average American GP may not be enough trained in nutrition, MDs do have the adequate background to specialize in human nutrition. Nutrition science should be oriented mainly on prevention and treatment of disease through diet. And this is an MD territory.

Generally speaking, I think there are too much money involved in this field of research. A little shift on dietary recommendations, and you move billions of dollars... I will keep my skepticism on everyone.

I really don't know if KH was chosen by NuSi *after* that he published his first metabolic study. In that case, after that he claimed to have "debunked" the Carbohydrate-insulin hypothesis yes, definitely delusional to think you could obtain unbiased results.

whatever... I was looking at those shirts. Some example text: "do you even science?", "advisory - lifting heavy *kitten*", "dominate". If he thinks to sell his shirts to his typical audience, well he doesn't have such a big opinion on their IQ, "bro".

Ah BTW, I gave a quick look to the bolded study: it is "Supported by a grant from the Inflammation Research Foundation" That foundation is just ... dr Barry Sears: http://www.inflammationresearchfoundation.org/about-us/about-dr-sears/ (who in fact coauthored the study)

and, quite sadly, sells t-shirts.

Evil researchers from Harvard! As for the "foolish" and the "stupid". This is beyond the scope of this actual study, but there are in fact other ones that have identified the “western pattern” as associated with rural residence, working class status, and lack of high school completion. Evil researchers...

Yet, that's a good age to start to check regularly your prostate (chances to get prostate cancer increase with a high dairy intake).

it can be also ketogenic, There is already some research on that (Italian and Spanish).

I happen to agree with you: what you eat is more important than the macro-nutrient breakdown. Now we just need to agree on what to eat

That would be already a high-fat Mediterranean Diet, but typically it would be lower in protein and higher in carbs. As for the "typical", you have to keep in mind that the Mediterranean diet was created by extrapolating the traditional food habits of the people living in the Mediterranean basin (that nowadays are more or…

if you want to criticize a study, you should read it attentively first: "Food groups with loading factors less than 0.3 for both dietary patterns were not listed in the table, and included fruit juice, poultry, condiments, nuts, tea, low-fat dairy products, pizza, organ, cold breakfast cereal, wine, margarine, mayonnaise,…

If I remember well, you also had surgery: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4566335/

exactly, the fact that someone can lose "comfortably" without counting every single calorie doesn't invalidate CiCo, while other people gain back the weight right after they stop logging.

Funny, he claimed to have lost weight on 2500 cals per day. Given that 2500 cals is the standard suggested calorie intake for men to maintain a healthy weight, hypothetically for an overweight man it is enough to be taller and/or more active than average to be able to lose weight at that level.

He's not a low carber. Funny thing is that when he landed here on MFP he thought low-carbers are the most confrontational people. I think he has already changed his mind on that, isn't it?

I would say that this fiber sub-debate is "overrated". A typical non ketogenic low carb diet (around 100g total carbs) -where starches are usually avoided and fruits are limited- will easily hit the recommended fiber intake. More difficult on a ketogenic diet (below 50g net carbs), but still doable with smart choices:

but what about smoked salmon?

it's pretty clear who you are... welcome back and congratulations for your success so far!

Beliefs? To say the truth, I have mainly doubts, and a sane skepticism. And no, of course I'm not going to browse the literature in search of metabolic-isocaloric iso-protein studies that you would dismiss anyway if they don't fit *your* beliefs (and I already gave you the benefit of the doubt when you asked for statistics…

Kevin Hall, Kevin Hall, Kevin Hall, that's exactly the problem. Settled science is never the result of the work of a single individual.

Yeah, people seem not to notice how strange is that the Department of Agriculture tells you what to eat (same in Italy)

Not only him. Generally "academic" paleo is a low sodium diet (being one of the points to restore the correct potassium/ sodium ratio). And it is also not low, but moderate in carbs.
-
Probably you are not very hungry in the morning, you may consider just to skip breakfast, at least occasionally. That being said, in summer my favorite breakfast is melon and prosciutto (even if the latter is not really paleo because very high in sodium). Banana pancakes in the weekend  Some ideas:…

yes, Western diet, together with obesity, is spreading across the world (food industry has nothing to do with it of course).
-
Fact is that it is a majority only in few countries (like the U.S.) while elsewhere it seems the "normal" appetite doesn't lead the majority of people to overeat.
