  • Don't try to be your friend. Be the best you that you can be <3
  • How many calories do you eat? I'm also 5'6 but am now in maintenance. I started off on 1400 and no exercise and found myself losing more than a lb a week (now I average about 1800). I was older amd lighter to start with though so you might need more. Then I got a fitbit charge hr and started walking more, they are…

  • Oh I see, yeah that never occurred to me. I don't put personal photos up but for those who do I can see you'd have to be careful.
  • Why not? Generally interested by the way, not being funny. I've no idea if my friends are male or female, genuinely never thought about it, maybe it says somewhere. Even excluding number 4 I don't fit your criteria though as I don't do exercise. I am active and maintaining though
  • I started last summer and averaged 1lb a week. I don't exercise as such but I did start trying to walk more and try to go for a walk most days now. Don't do cardio or weights.
  • When I've visited hospital wards I put mine in a small bag I carry or on my waistband belt loop and it seemed to pick up steps just fine, numbers looked about what I expected. I didn't have any problem with the heart rate on auto but if I was going to be there all day I'd switch it off. I'm not sure how I could wear it in…
  • I've not really looked into what refeeds are, but then I don't gym. They sound like something you'd need if you'd been eating at a really high deficit and were starving. I do find I have a crazy day every 3-4 weeks though where I just can't keep my hands off the bread/pasta/potatoes, a real almost insatiable hunger that…
  • On the MFP mobile app if you go to Nutrtion - Calories - Weekly you can see average daily values for total and net calories. Total average daily calories = how many calories eaten in a week divided by 7. I thought net average daily calories = how many calories eaten in a week minus exercise calories (fitbit adjustment)…
  • I lost 25lb slowly over six months to reach my goal. No comments at 24lb, concern over my health at 25lb
  • Thanks everyone  I like the idea of tightening up and becoming denser.
  • Add me! 40+, vegetarian, maintaining on about 1700 and in the UK.
  • Happens to me too. If I eat huge one day, the next day I'm down. Even if its carbs and sodium. Would love to know the science behind it.
  • I used them a few years ago for a few weeks. I lost weight and found their forum quite helpful too, might be worth checking them out via their website. I slowly swapped the shakes for meals and then lost motivation. Didn't regain it all suddenly either.
  • Yes, and I always wonder why. There must be a reason for it. Maybe as that 'extra' food leaves our body it drags some extra water with it. Or maybe we burn a bunch of extra calories as our bodies desperately try to process the extra food. Either way I don't think it is reliable enough to do it deliberately on a regular…
  • Thanks everyone, I'm actually completely okay about it. I plug my daily calories into a spreadsheet which works out my monthly average, 1000 spread over 20 days is really not much at all, especially as some of those days I was under. I think what really surprised me was how little food could equal 1000 over. I always…

  • 1) I'm no expert but I think the thyroid medication is supposed to normalise things as though you did have a thyroid, therefore with correct dosing it shouldn't affect weight loss/gain. 2) 15lb is great! If you think of it as a long term then not only have you halted the weight gain but you are also reversing it. You'll be…
  • This happened to me when I first started, I think it's quite common. As you are looking (hopefully) to make long term changes it makes sense to use this 'not hungry' time to practice eating correctly portioned meals and snacks so that when the huunger hits you know what sort of meals and snacks to eat to stay within your…
  • I find even when I'm out and know I'm going to go over just knowing I'm going to log it all prevents too much 'over'. It has become normal now to ask myself 'Do I want that enough to be bothered to try and find it, or something similar, in the database and then try too guess how much I had?'. Having said that, I haven't…
  • I walk about 4mph when going somewhere, could probably do faster on a treadmill. 5'6, 41,130lb. Would love to walk faster, then I'd get there quicker.
  • Thank-you 123juliaj123 for this post. I really needed to read all of these replies right now. At the end of last week I ate way over my normal calories (+450) for two days in a row as well as doing a lot of extra walking and seemed to gain 2lb after having been constantly losing for three months. I know the 2lb weight gain…
  • Thank you. I think if it was my cooking at home it would be under 600. But all that oil! Ewww. Strange how things don't seem so worth it once you see them in terms of numbers.
  • Even when mine were toddlers I didn't have the energy to consider what was going into my mouth or to exercise so well done on being ready to start. My youngest is now ten and I've just made a start. Biggest thing that has helped me is getting them to scrape their plates into the bin when they've finished eating.
  • Kgs or lbs?

  • I like salted nuts, they are high calorie so can only have a few but I eat the, one at a time and they keep me satisfied.
  • I'm not exercising. I'm logging my walks and trying to do more walks (walk to local shop instead of car to big shop) and walk faster but not really going to a gym type exercise. I've lost 14lbs in 3 months and was only 146 to start with. I'm hoping to start exercising next month.
  • B. If I had a few over days in a row I'd end up having to starve/fast, then I'd end up hungry and bingeing. It tends to balance out naturally over a few days anyway.
  • In the beginning I logged 'pinch of salt' I don't log squash as I don't drink much and would just not drink anything if I had to log it. I try to avoid 'tastes' now and ask my family to scrape their plates when they've finished, they used to just give me their leavings :open_mouth:
  • Avocado, sweet potato and nuts are all quite calorie dense, I would struggle to fit all those into 1200 calories a day and still have enough calories left to eat to fill me up.

  • It was this! 45 minutes later I feel totally stuffed! I so totally realise why I used to overeat, the temptation to reach for a packet of crisps and a chocolate bar was really strong. I guess the trick is to not allow myself to get too hungry in the first place - more snacks :D It doesn't happen so much at dinner, but then…
