I'm also starting in 2024 after a difficult year and some self neglect. Aiming to walk at least 1km every day. Also aiming for 8 hours in bed each night and half an hour each day of either reading or listening to music to relax as I am a real stress eater.

Have you had blood results and are you being treated? Once you are on replacement it should be easier as the tablets replace the thyroxine that your body isn't making :)
-
That is amazing! Well done you X

I don't eat many beans & lentils, but I eat even less meat :D (gave up over 20 years ago). I feel unfresh if I've eaten loads of sugar or high starch foods.
-
Mine is doing the same thing but it is a replacement. Wonder how many times they replace? Original was bought beginning of January and was replaced in March due to being faulty, now this one is separating from the band.
-
Mine isn't working properly today either

Eat before you get hungry and make sure to allow snacks in your allowance.

I'm at maintenance and usually eat about what fitbit say. Have lost another 3lb in the last 3 months. Over time I eat on average about 50 calories less than I burn, on a day to day basis sometimes I'm over sometimes I'm under.
-
Might you need a new scale?
-
You can't tell the difference between hunger or thirst, so if you go on a diet and feel hungry it's really because you are thirsty. :)
-
Yes. Set to lose 0.5lb a week. Those few extra calories every day may stop you going over every so often. I'm 5'6 too and am in maintenance and as stupid as it sounds it's not that easy to stop losing weight. I still seem to be loosing a lb every six weeks.

Why is cabbage garbage? Genuinely interested, I half expected you to say 'white bread/pasta/rice' there. I don't eat much cabbage but never had it down as someone else's crap.

If you are reducing calories by quite a lot compared to what you are used to it might be worth getting used to that before you introduce exercise. Two big changes at once are harder to stick with I think. Exercise may make you feel hungrier on your already reduced calories and may make you retain water making it look like…

Usually takes about a week ot two after having levo increased before you start feeling better, once your levels are up you'll feel more positive and able to do this. Just take care and don't be too harsh on yourself.

Sadly if he's not very nice now he won't suddenly get nice because you've jumped through his hoops, he'll just find a different excuse for his behaviour. On the other hand, your childrens love is unconditional. Be the person you want them to grow up and be. With regards how to lose weight, I just set the numbers into MFP…

Recognise that you will have days where everything goes wrong, they happen so don't be nasty to yourself about it. The best thing is that every day is a brand new day and you get to try all over again. Leave yesterday behind and focus on getting today right. Making long lasting lifestyle changes is not like flicking a…

I have finally figured that (for me) the trigger for the binge is not something that happens in the moments leading up to the binge, it's what's been happening in the days leading up to it. I binged for years and I realise now they would come after a few days of eating a lot less than I needed or a couple of days of using…

I don't know about the numbers (I just eat what MFP says) but a week isn't long, keep at it and hopefully you'll notice a loss next week. :)

Don't forget the drinks! Not saying you do but in my early twenties I was very active and athletic and ate very little in order to control my weight (a career requirement). I also drank Milo and iced coffee and juice. At the time I had no real idea about calories, only about not eating much. Saying that I ate so little it…

When I first started counting for some reason I was full before getting to my limit, no idea why but I think it's quite common because there are always posts about it. For me the hunger soon caught up though.
-
I had a different problem and emailed fitbit about it and they sent me a new one :)
-
I just focused on calories. Once I'd got the hang of accurately logging and knowing what to avoid so I didn't go over then I glanced at macros but I don't take a huge deal of notice otherwise things get complicated and I would give up. One goal (calories) a day is enough for me.

Log everything that passes your lips, it's amazing how quickly just by logging it you start question whether you really need that second cookie/pack of crisps/potato.

In my early twenties with a new partner sex was definitely a real calorie burner for me, so much so that I got really skinny and my friends worried I wasn't eating enough :D but like everything else, with age we've got super efficient (lazy?) and can get the job done with minimal effort.

Thank-you so much everyone for your kind comments. I do brush twice a day (super whizzy toothbrush) and floss most days, he even said he could see I keep my teeth really clean but it's not enough. My teeth are breaking, he said it was to do with getting little cavities in the side and then the inside of the tooth being…

I'm in maintenance and eat about all my calories. I haven't gained so think it's pretty accurate for me. Have you set your fitbit to lose 2lb as well?
-
I love logging my calories. I'm in maintenance now though and my numbers are comfortably enough for me as long as I'm not greedy, logging stops me being greedy.

Couldn't imagine life without it, what a scary thought.
