Not sure if you have one near you, but check out the clearance rack at a golf specialty store. You might find some better quality rain shirts or jackets pretty cheap.

Here are a couple of good books you may want to look at; Running for Mortals: A Commonsense Plan for Changing Your Life With Running Marathoning for Mortals: A Regular Person's Guide to the Joy of Running or Walking a Half-Marathon or Marathon I was like 275 or so when I started and could only go about 1.5 1.75 miles with…

When I started 3-4 miles was long, but now I have done two 1/2 marathons so 5K seems short. Even the last 10K I did seem short, but I ran that pretty fast for me. So right now I look at 10 miles or more as a long run, 4-10 as medium, and 5K as short. It all comes down to what you have trained to. Just have fun and run…

Not sure why you would get the error, what IOS version are you running on your phone?
-
The Garmin Connect app is for the phone via blue tooth, I use the web site on my IPad. I have used the app on both an Iphone 4s and the new Iphone 6 with no issues. I have a HRM and a Garmin FR220 GPS watch. It is the Watch that interfaces with both the HRM and the phone. I use the app when I am on my run and after I do…

good advice, but again go to a running specialty store and get fitted for shoes. It will go a long way to keeping you injury free. Injury could still happen but ill-fitting shoes will guarantee an injury. Take it easy and work your way into. YOU CAN DO THIS! I did and the feeling you get when you cross the finish line is…

I run by myself with music. Also during a race I have to watch out as it is easy to go out too fast with the crowd. On a 5K this should not be too big an issue, but on longer races you can waste too much energy too soon. Just take it easy and have fun with it and keep going.

\m/ Congrats \m/
-
Also do not try anything new on race day, trust your training and have fun. Remember you may find your self going out a little fast with the crowd, just take it easy and settle into your own pace. Good Luck!
-
Also as you try things out do not be afraid to changes things up a little in training to find out what works best for you. Each persons body will react a little differently.

I just did a 1/2 last Sunday and have one in Nov. I still run a Cal deficit every day. The Friday before a Sunday race eat real close to my 1900 cals goal, and on Sat I just ate a little lighter and earlier. The morning of the race I had some water, a cup of coffee, and two FRS chews just before the Start and I was fine.…

I just did a 1/2 marathon yesterday and boy did I eat after. I am not as careful as to what I eat, I just listen to my body and if I am hungry I eat. I still end the day with a net negative. After that I just go back to a more normal way of eating. That is the nice thing about your long runs you can use that as your cheat…

I would say to hit up your locale running store. Also it is easy to over dress; add about 10 to 15 degrees to what the weather looks like toward the end of your run and dress for that. I have some Cold gear from under armor; running tights, shirts, hat and some gloves. I also have one of those things you wear around your…

here are two books which might give you some help. Marathoning for Mortals: A Regular Person's Guide to the Joy of Running or Walking a Half-Marathon or Marathon Running for Mortals: A Commonsense Plan for Changing Your Life With Running Get out and run outside if you can. I started from just being able to run 3 miles to…

Good Job!

I log it, after wearing my running watch and Heart Rate Monitor I was very surprised by how many calories I burned (its much more than most would guess) and is not a big yard. So that is the number I log each time I cut my yard.
-
Another vote for Under Armour, I have some of their cold gear and it is very good. I am also big so I put on some light weight shorts over the running tights and if it is cold enough a light weight sweet shirt on top. Hat and gloves make are a big help too. Also one of those neck wraps. With this I am good down to about 38…

Eat light and early the day before, your bigger meals are like two days before (only a little bigger or just normal). You do not need to Carb load. Also the morning of your run with the nerves and everything you do not need the extra junk in your tummy and the extra bathroom breaks. When you get into running more you will…

Here are two books to look at too; Marathoning for Mortals: A Regular Person's Guide to the Joy of Running or Walking a Half-Marathon or Marathon Running for Mortals: A Commonsense Plan for Changing Your Life With Running Also the C5K, 10k and 25K apps, or some of the running plans from Garmin or runkeeper are good places…

Great run! jfeakins there are some training plans you can get from runkeeper or Garmin's web site and some couch-2-10K training apps you could get for your phone. Just try to run relaxed and at a slower pace than your 5K pace, maybe 30 sec to a minute slower and you should be fine.

AMON AMARHT, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, DIO, OZZY, MegaDeath, Metallica, Anthrax, SLAYER, Iron Madden, Korn, Disturbed, Chthonic, Generation Kill, Shadow Fall, and a few other bands \m/

Check out the dcrainmaker site, very good reviews. I have the Garmin 220 and love it. I added the heart rate monitor also. My Garmin has not had any issues in almost a year of use.

I love Metal \m/ Its what I listen to when I run. During my long runs I love it when an Amon Amarth song comes on, how can you not keep going. DIO is my favorite Singer, Sabbath, Iron Madien, Judas Priest, Pantera, and Amon Amarth are some of my favorite bands. I get to see Priest OCT 25th. I am running the Wicket 10K that…

Check with your doctor before you start. There are some good beginner 5K (3.1 miles) and 10K (6.2) apps that you can get on your phone. Also the book running of mortals and Marathon for Mortals are good running books. I went from just running a little to finishing and 1/2 Marathon this year, but as I am a man I did not…
