  • Hey all. We joined a new gym and I started the program today. I'm 35, a teacher, married, and not new to strength training, having done Crossfit for over a year, but going it alone is new and different for me. My abs are already sore from the prone jackknifes this morning! I am excited to have the support with this group…
  • Very helpful and clarifying thread! I'm starting stage 1 this week.
  • If I take a mostly walking trail ride and enter it as "horseback riding, general" I feel like it's an overestimate of my cals burned and will use the walking entry. Trotting and cantering definitely ups my cals burned when riding and either I'll try to estimate our time spent walking or trotting or just use the "general"…
  • Just read through your thread and what a happy ending/beginning for the both of you! I am excited to hear about your progress and new adventures together. Congrats!!
  • This one is yummy ¼ cup uncooked old fashioned rolled oats ⅓ cup skim milk ¼ cup low-fat Greek yogurt 1-½ teaspoons dried chia seeds ½ teaspoon cinnamon 1 teaspoon honey, optional (or substitute any preferred sweetener) ¼ cup unsweetened applesauce, or enough to fill jar In a half pint (1 cup) jar, add oats, milk, yogurt,…
  • SO awesome!! way to go!!!
  • my victory today was my 3rd RX'd WOD ever (just starting my 7th month of Crossfit). After doing 100 pushups, we did AMRAP 8mins 5 deadlift (85lbs), 10 squats, and 15 double unders I only completed 3 rounds + deadlifts, squats, and 4 double unders If I had done singles I would have rocked it but I was determined to do those…
  • Interesting from a nature and science perspective but doesn't make me reconsider my food choices at all.
  • This is good, real-life advice. Don't make it a battle and a negative experience. Just set a good example for your husband as well as your child. Have real conversations about food and the affects on your mood and body with your child. Go food shopping together or even better, go to a farmer's market or a local farm if you…
  • you can add me too I love lifting, talking about lifting, and encouraging others to lift :)
  • Hey everyone.. I'm Toria, from NC. My goal each day is to have no sweets. This week I had 2 successful days and 2 unsuccessful days. I am taking it day by day. Besides the unhealthy calories and sugar peaks and falls, my sugar addition is wreaking havoc on my digestive system and my skin. I've been feeling awful lately and…
  • It is so important to scale every single time you need to and do moves and work on skills that will help build your body to be able to eventually do these harder moves like HSPUs. I don't think you or your coach should expect you to do difficult exercises without first building up to them. You should be doing other…
  • Last week, after starting Crossfit in January, I finally RX'd a WOD! I was really feeling it by the end but my coach stuck by me and helped me through it.
  • I did on-ramp in January so this is my 4th month, 3rd of the real classes. Feel free to add me, I'd love to know more CrossFit people on here. Totally drank the Kool-Aid too :)
  • oops sorry double post...
  • As a CrossFit n00b and someone healing back pain through strengthening (among other things), I currently go 2x a week. This week is my first week upping it to 3x (M,W,F). I horseback ride a couple times a week, run a couple times a week, and will do WODS at home or practice certain skills (especially double unders!). with…
  • Yes my Crossfit box costs more than the YWCA did, but I love it, go much more often, and am seeing amazing progress! For me, Crossfit is worth every penny.

  • feel free to add me! I have a quarter horse who I ride on the trails and do dressage and some jumping with.
  • It's a cold rainy day here and I am off from work. I'll get in a short dog walk but also plan to do some weight exercises and a workout dvd.
  • There's a free version of Endomondo but I've noticed it drains my droid's battery faster than other ones I've tried. This doesn't affect shorter workouts but it doesn't last long enough for long hikes and horseback rides. I also use Cardio Trainer which doesn't run my battery down as fast. I like Endomondo's website…
  • I am training for a few 5ks this fall and am working towards improving my time with each race. Over the summer I was running light, a couple times a week, and cross training with horseback riding and bike riding. Now I'm focusing more on running and getting in 3 runs a week. I'm running 2-3 miles on my runs. My first race…
  • I'm in WNC too so also not super close but love finding new MFP friends!
  • I have a horse.. an older quarter horse who is amazing and wonderful! He's trained in hunter/jumper and dressage but I just moved him to the Biltmore Estate and we've been enjoying the nearly 100 miles of trails there. I'd love to friend some other horsey girls so feel free to add me!
  • know your town's leash laws most places have them, except some more rural areas I walk my dogs in our neighborhood, within city limits, and encounter off-leash dogs. breed is irrelevant, if a dog wants to be territorial and aggressive it can be. I have the animal control number loaded in my phone and have called on walks…
  • I just set myself a goal for my longest distance ever.. a 12k in November. I've only done 5ks so far. It's exciting and a little intimidating too! good luck with your training!
  • hi everyone! I'm Victoria and I'm 33. about 4 yrs ago I got into running with a C25K program and did several 5ks in 2008 and 2009. Due to an injury from a fall off a horse in 2009 I stopped running for over a year. Since then it's only been on and off and mostly more off than on. I did a couple 5ks in 2011 and have a few…
  • I agree w/ the 8-10 cups of water I am in!! Monday is a perfect time to start for me. It'll be our first day back home after vacation.
  • I'm a kindergarten teacher too! and also a vegetarian! I have the summer off mostly. I work at some horse camps for a few weeks in the summer but also have a few weeks off as well. Nice to meet you!
  • well as my mother was just hospitalized for dehydration I don't know why anyone wouldn't want to drink plenty of water. and yes I am aware that you can have too much water but I doubt anyone could exceed a safe amount of water without trying deliberately to drink a huge amount. It's a ridiculous debate.
