  • I also log in daily. Feel free to add me!
  • Bacon. Followed closely by full fat chunky blue cheese salad dressing.
  • A Christmas Story Polar Express Rudolph (the old one with Burl Ives) Nightmare before Christmas
  • I have an HTC thunderbolt. Love it. Battery life is crap but that is any smartphone.
  • The wife and I are having a small dinner here. I'm not really close with my family so we usually stay home. She is cooking, I am baking her favorite lemon cake for dessert, we will drink egg nog and maybe put up the Christmas tree and watch Polar Express. It is just one day a year. I will not be tracking or counting…
  • My wife and I both have long hair and wear makeup. I get pedicures and salon treatments. Neither of us are butch or manly. I think these labels are heteronormative. Neither of us act like a man because we are not men and not trying to emulate the typical heterosexual union. It is hard for people to understand. I am…
  • Good for you! I haven't had any alcohol since the start of this month when I started counting carbs.
  • I am watching the Harry Potter marathon on TV, snuggling with my yellow lab and feeling a bit spacey courtesy of my new med.
  • I'm in!
  • Is that to lose 2 lbs per week? If you go over your calories but not your carbs do you gain? I have mine set at 1 lb per week which is 1700ish. I rarely go over. Maybe relax your calorie goal and you'll find it a bit easier? I notice my calorie count as I'm tracking carbs but don't worry too much if I am a little over or…
  • Nursing schedules can be a nightmare. It is good that you can work around your family's schedule but it is so hard on the body to work night shift. I worked nights for years and one of the main reasons I got into dialysis was for the hours. Now I work 4 days a week, 6a - 4p. Love it.
  • That is super cute! I love homemade gifts.
  • Hi! I'm Becca and I've been an RN for 8 years. I'm currently working in dialysis. I follow a high fat/moderate protein/low carb diet. Looking forward to this group!
  • You're eating a lot of carbs. I'd up the protein and fat and cut down on the bread/pasta/cookies/chips/etc.
  • I still think that there is no point in snacking if you're not actually hungry, no matter what the snack might be. That was my point. If you are hungry then of course you should eat food that fits with your normal manner of eating.
  • This. And occasionally bleu cheese dressing mixed with sriracha.
  • If you're not physically hungry than eating something is not the solution. I know this is a hard concept to grasp and live with -- it is for me, too, and a lot of times I have to distract myself or even go to another area of the house away from the kitchen if I know I am on the verge of snacking FOR NO REASON except that I…
  • Great job! Also: why in the world do they have a meal like this every Wednesday?
  • I knitted a lot of dishcloths when I was first learning to knit. I don't do them much anymore. Well, to be honest, I haven't been knitting much at all lately but now that I have been exposed to different, softer yarns that dishcloth yarn is like knitting with twine. I have to make some more though because those are…
  • Me: Real Name: Rebecca Height: 5'3" HW: 261 CW: 227 GW: 140 UGW: size 6 (whatever weight that happens to be!) Location: MD, USA Age: 35 Sex: F Married, no human children, have 1 yellow lab and 1 grumpy gray cat. Diet Plan - Atkins. I just started this on 11/2 but am eating induction levels of carbs, at or under 20 g per…
  • I don't know how low carb you are trying to go but I think you would do really well for yourself if you just cut out most of the grain in your diet (i.e. breads, pastas, baked goods, cereal, etc) and focused on protein and getting most of your carbs from vegetables and fruits. Greek yogurt is a good option if you can…
  • I might have to try the pumpkin muffin. I'm a sucker for anything pumpkin, esp this time of year. Is it induction friendly?
  • Joined the group. Am keeping carbs at 20 or less these days. Have a lot of weight to lose and just couldn't get weight watchers to work for me, even through multiple attempts. This is my first venture into a low carb lifestyle and I plan to eventually loosen up a bit and be paleo for life. Have a pork tenderloin in the…
  • Not especially. I track everything here so I can't help but notice my calories but as long as my carbs are in line I don't sweat it if I'm a little over or under my calorie target.
  • I haven't tried the MIM either although it sounds good. I don't always eat breakfast. If I'm not eating food I will have coffee with a splash of heavy cream. If I am it is usually eggs and meat, sometimes I will make a breakfast bowl of eggs, bacon, sausage, cheese, etc or I will have leftovers from the night before.
  • Thanks for the info! I plan to stay at around 20 g of carbs for awhile. So far so good! Making an effort to eat a high fat, moderate protein, low carb diet. The satiety is a new thing for me, I'm used to feeling ravenously hungry every few hours. Have started eating only twice a day with a small snack if needed. Trying to…
  • I'm working on bitterroot shawl. I'm stalled for the moment because I've been renovating a room (but secretly it is because I am almost to the beading section and I'm scared of beads).
  • I am! Humglum there too.
  • Thanks, Sue! I'm not entirely sure how to figure out my carb level for ongoing weight loss. That was the one confusing part for me.
