Goodness! Speaking of burgers, have you seen this yet?

I was like this in the beginning as well, and as I've gotten closer and closer to goal (pretty much there now), my appetite has increased dramatically. My theory is that when you have extra adipose tissue being used up along with your dietary fats, you will have great appetite suppression, but the less adipose tissue you…

Yes, probably the fluffy fat thing. Throughout my journey, I've noticed softening and tightening at different times. Sometimes, I feel really firm and taut, and other times, squishy and soft. I know my bodyfat has decreased significantly, and that I have not had significant muscle loss because I've had hydrostatic weighing…

If your plan is to go back to eating all those carby foods after you lose weight, you will most likely gain it all back. Now, the New Atkins for a New You describes how to re-introduce carbs, and how fast, and how to notice if you are gaining, and which foods you may have to eliminate forever in order to maintain your…

Well, unless you are eating an 8 egg omelette with loads of cheese, butter, ham, and bacon in it, or a pound of bacon with those two fried egges, and two or more chicken legs with skin, you are not eating enough calories. I recommend you get a digital scale, weigh all your foods in grams (mLs for liquids), and log it. You…

I eat a fair amount of veggies. Some of my favorites are brussels sprouts, sugar snap peas, cabbage, jicama, red/orange/yellow bell peppers, cauliflower, yellow squash, zucchini, celery, green beans, small amounts of spaghetti squash, baby bella mushrooms, bok choy, endive, baby romaine, butter lettuce, iceberg, etc. I…

Why have your goal numbers changed so frequently? Are you setting them different on different days? The one glaring thing I noticed is all the processed meats, which often contain sugars and starches, and even though the labels are low carb, some of us are just very, very sensitive to those ingredients. I would probably…

You've only been at this for 3 months. Changes in your numbers are going to take some time. Were the BS and Thyroid any better at all, even if still out of range? Congrats on the cholesterol numbers! Stay the course. And in the meantime, tell us about your stats and your goals so we can get to know you.

I'm pretty much at goal, and once I re-lose the weight I gained on vacation, I'm going to ease into maintenance. I expect if I kept eating at a calorie deficit and 25 NET carbs, I'd keep losing, and I don't think I want that. I have not adjusted my calorie intake since starting in June, but what I have adjusted is my…

one bottle of beer shouldn't derail you too badly, unless you are really new to this (less than 4 weeks w/o going off). get some cardio exercise, and go right back to plan.

If your BMR is 1450 and you are only eating 1200, I'd up your intake, esp. since you are exercising. What are your stats? Age, height, weight? the link that KnitOrMiss was referring to is http://keto-calculator.ankerl.com/

You have lost 40 lbs in 3 months! Wow! That is awesome. I think what your doctor is trying to tell you is that he wants you to eat a meditteranean style diet, but whatever. You are losing weight, and I'm sure over time, your bloodwork will prove to the DR that how you are eating is healthy.
-
I say if you are losing weight at a pace you like, and are feeling very well on 75 g of carbs, don't lower it any further, unless you wish to experiment as mentioned above.
-
I started with it, and have pretty much kept induction level carbs. It is a ketogenic diet when you stay on Induction.
-
In that calculator, you set the carbs you want, then pick a protein level, and then the rest is fat. If 16 is too low for you, up it some. That is pretty low, and is difficult for some of us. I have stuck to approx 25-30 net carbs, and lost 47 pounds since June 2014.

I know this may be hard to hear, but breaking your soda/diet soda habit may help tremendously. SOME people experience intense sugar cravings when consuming artificial sweeteners. Others are not affected. Since you are still having those cravings, eliminate them and see what happens. Drink water. Make sure you get your…

As a teen, early 20-something, riddled with eating disorders (anorexia, bulimia, laxative abuse, exercise abuse, etc.). Gained 70 lbs during pregnancy (age 23), and promptly lost 55 of that in 9 months after giving birth. As a 20 something - 30 something, ate pretty well, but lots of starches, and stayed fairly active and…

MFP deleted my abbreviation for artificial sweetener's above.

Yes, it is hard at first, but when you realize you can drop body fat and eat fat, you'll adjust your mind to match your mouth.
-
I think that is person dependent. *kitten* derail some folks by making them crave more sweet stuff. If it doesn't bother you, keep drinking it, just account for the calories and any carbs, as they can add up.

Chalk it up to finally finishing Breaking Bad, all 6 seasons. I know, I'm behind the curve.

Without more information, I couldn't really say for sure, but maybe it's not the dairy and very high protein. What are your ratios of carbs to fats to protein in percent of your calories? If your protein is very high and fats and carbs low, that could be the culprit.
-
I don't know about anyone else, but I read that as "low carb meth" for some reason. LOL!
-
Thanks. That is very helpful information.

The comments I have are: What does the rest of the day look like? Weigh in grams whenever possible instead of ounces and or cups, unless you did that and converted the grams to other measurements. Most generic entries have a grams option to choose from. It's very accurate. Like KnitorMiss, why does that chicken have carbs?…
