As far as I'm concerned, Italian really should include sauce, cheese, and bread, so I would go with Mexican.

This is true for me too. And sometimes MFP is way above what my HRM says, and sometimes way below.

I've taken care of lots of people's animals and can only imagine how you must feel. Hopefully your neighbor knows you well enough to know that you did take good care of the cat and it's just terrible timing. One of my cats ran away (or maybe was eaten by a fox that supposedly killed a few other cats in the…

Like everything, it's different for everyone. I've maintained (w/in about 5 pounds) for a couple of years and am still really bothered by my loose skin. I've noticed it more since I started really pushing the weights more consistently. Bah.

Exactly. I don't know if you mentioned how old the older kid is (and I hate that I can't see the original post right now to check), but if he's old enough to write, even barely, then in your next gift to him--or better yet, when you see him next--give him a box of thank you cards and some stamps. Let him know that when he…

....and you DO deserve to be healthy, live long and with less risk of diseases and injuries, feel better about yourself, and meet your goal. Keep up your hard work. Maybe someday they'll catch on to why you're making the choices you are... -LP

I don't know anything about this product except for its name--Slimquick--which is enough for me to claim with confidence that it's not going to help you lose weight in a healthy and sustainable way. However, it may well be effective for just losing weight.

"It was a tough change at first, but it's not too much work anymore and I'm feeling really good so it's worth the effort." Or something. When I was actively losing weight and people asked me how I was doing it, I would just say that I changed my eating and exercise habits. Then if they wanted more details (and they rarely…

Is there a retirement community (aka "independent senior living community") where you can go? The streets/sidewalks are generally well-maintained and the people are generally friendly. It's one of the few places I run where I feel both safe and unselfconscious.

Thanks for posting this update! I might see if I can send mine back too.

I agree that it's more expensive. There are always great deals on chips and ice cream, but I have yet to see a BOGO on apples. We stock up when healthy stuff is on sale and freeze it. Mostly ground turkey, chicken breasts, berries, and cut-up bell peppers for cooking, but other stuff too. And we pretty much limit ourselves…

Can you make a little extra dinner at night and bring leftovers the following day?

I often try to focus on the fact that my healthy choices are for overall health (and a resulting longer and happier life) rather than just for weight loss. It is frustrating sometimes, though!

I'm also 4'11 and always secretly annoyed (ok, envious) when I see other people's speeds. I usually jog at 4.5 or 5.0 now, and have gone as fast as 6.5 for short periods of time but I feel like that's bordering on dangerous because it's a little too fast for me to know what's going on. It's nice to know that other shorties…

This is always what I intend to do. I have yet to do it successfully because I'm forgetful and spilly.

You burn more than you eat?

I can't edit my post to correct my spelling, but I appreciate that you guys spelled "bingeing" correctly!
-
I totally "binge" on healthy food too. I'm not picky when I'm that out of control. I think it has less to do with the food and more to do with the actions.
-
They might technically "just" be overeating. Like when someone says they're depressed, they don't generally mean that they're clinically depressed. For me, I consider binging to be when I can't stop shoving food in my mouth and feel like I'm out of control.

I hope you'll post an update after you get it back, as I think a lot of us have the same problem and are curious if sending our HRMs to Polar might remedy it. Thanks! - LP

I keep a glass of water with a straw between me and my laptop. I don't even need hands to drink it. Plus, straws are fun. Especially the bendy kind.

This. I am working with a therapist on what I thought were issues unrelated to food/eating. It's all connected for me, and while I still have episodes of crazy snacking, at least I'm aware of WHY I'm doing it (basically, I'm distracting myself from the real, painful issues by focusing on food...and then on my weight). -LP

Bumping to read suggestions later.

I look up the menu beforehand and often call the restaurant ahead of time to double-check that they have whatever I'm thinking of ordering and to get the specials, in case those are better.
-
This was my first thought too. It's hard work, but therapy has been extremely helpful for me in terms of identifying WHY i am not letting myself lose the rest of the weight. An easier idea is to see if you can find a friend/family member (preferably in real life, but of course MFP people are great too!) to get healthy with…

If you don't have any of the chips, etc at lunch, make sure you have a little something "special" at dinner so you don't feel deprived. Make sure to log everything, though, so you know where you stand! And try to work in extra steps/movement today to make you feel better if you go a little bit over. As others have said,…

I'm not sure if anyone's mentioned this already, but one way that I can relatively comfortable stick to my calorie target is by pre-planning my whole day in advance. That way I can go back and change from two pieces to one piece of toast at breakfast, for example, so that I don't go over my calories when I have the banana…
-
I definitely relate to what you're saying. MFP originally gave me 1200 calories but then I changed a setting or two (maybe i just switched to a .5 loss/week) and now have 1390. When I workout, I earn at least 200 more and can generally stay within my calories then (sometimes with up to 200 left over--but not usually!), but…

You have to force yourself. Bribe yourself if necessary. Make a deal with yourself that you don't have to work out as hard as normal, but you do need to exercise. People have been exercising when they have their periods (and in much, much worse conditions!) since the beginning of time. Be thankful you're not migrating on…

It's kind of comforting for me to know that other people do this too. I am very careful around real life people, even my husband, not to talk about food too much. Even when I'm eating, I'm thinking about how soon I can eat next and what it will be and when I can start prepping it and how I can draw out the meal (sadly, I'm…
