  • Thank you all for the kind words and encouragement. We had a cookout yesterday for Father's Day and I did have a sliver (and I do mean a sliver) of my sister's chocolate pie, But I didn't eat dinner and stayed within my calories. My weight this morning is down 13 lbs from my doctor's visit 2 weeks ago so I am happy about…
  • Margaret, Yes my doctor checks my A1C at least once a year and watches me for diabetes. I also have an under active thyroid and have been on synthroid for 18 years for that.
  • No, Poisoned...only the red strawberry ones. Not the twists, or the pull and eat, only the original red.
  • My babies Lulu (white Shepherd), Millie (black Shepherd) and Scarlett (beagle or meerkat).
  • I confess I am obsessed with Twizzlers and Smarties.
  • I know I am too late in the month to be part of this challenge, but would like to join the group to help keep me motivated and accountable and hoping to compete next month.
  • Had a similar experience with doctor's and my daughter. She was in her senior year of high school and had a very full plate of activities. She was dealing with a lot of anxiety because of this, our PCP put her on an anxiety medicine. About 6 weeks later at school during choir practice she had a seizure, I took her to the…
  • My profile picture is from 5 years ago when I had lost 80 lbs and felt better than I had in forever. Here I sit now a few months after my 50th birthday and after a year filled with trauma, stress, and an emotional roller coaster having gained every bit of that 80 lbs back. I am disappointed with myself. 1 year ago my then…

  • I have come to realize this time that the key to me keeping the weight off once I reach my goal is to weigh every single day. Otherwise I convince myself I "haven't gained that much back".
  • Donalee, are you not on synthroid or other thyroid med? If not, I would ask the doctor why and get a second opinion. I have my thyroid (for what it is worth, which is not much). I can always tell when mine is out of whack and my meds need adjusted because I have no energy, don't sleep well, slight depression, and extremely…
  • Agreed. Anytime I am slacking on my water intake I lose less weight. Last time I was dieting I was losing 3-5 lbs a week. I completely gave up diet soda and was drinking 80-120 ounces of water a day and lost 10 lbs that week and that is the only thing that I changed.
  • SueInAz wrote -- I recently read an article that compared staying at a healthy weight to walking down an up escalator. The moment you stop paying attention, you start to go back up. That may just be the best analogy I have ever read on losing weight and trying to keep it off.
  • I'm in, this will hopefully help me get re-motivated. I will warn you though that I will be out of town from 2/12-2/19 so I may not post on 2/15. • I have been on Synthroid for 15 years or so and it is extremely easy for me to gain weight. Not as easy to take off. But I did manage to take off 85lbs in a year (3 years ago). I did it by using MFP to log ALL my food and 95% of the time I did not exceed my calories, I did not eat back my exercise calories (per my trainer)…
  • Chips. Chips and dip. Chips and salsa. Did I mention I love chips?! :)
  • I am back also. I started in March 2011 and from then until July 2012 I lost 85 lbs. Then I got divorced, met a new man, started eating out, etc. etc. and I have gained 30 lbs back. So back on it for me also.
  • Was working out with a trainer at Chainlink Fitness (96th and Michigan Road), going back there in a few weeks. Just also joined Planet Fitness in Beech Grove with my daughter.
  • It takes a while to get used to 1200 calories and how those calories are best spent. Salad and most fruits are low in calories, lean meats are good because they are filling and have a lot of protein which makes you feel full longer. Drinking a lot of water helps. I typically eat breakfast (usually cereal with almond milk)…
  • I just joined WW online but I am not impressed with their search engine for food. MFP is much better.
  • I joined MPF in March 2011 and lost 14 lbs. I then started working with a trainer inconjunction with MPF and lost a total of 85 lbs. I then went to Mardi Gras in March 2012, had my 45 birthday, got divorced and met a new man. Fell off the dieting/exercise wagon and have gained 20 lbs of that weight back. I am now trying…
  • I agree. I have lost 80 lbs. I am in a size 12 jeans but still at 200 lbs. I HAVE NEVER in my life been in a size 12 jeans at this weight. I am usually in a 16 at this weight. The difference is the strength training.
  • When I first started working with a trainer I told him I wanted to be a size 8 (from a size 24), he asked me if I wanted to be a size 8 or did I want to be a size 8 that looked good. This confused me at first because in my mind I was thinking "wouldn't a size 8 look good?". He then told me that cardio is to lose weight,…
  • My "type" has never really been the physical (I have dated tall, short, skinny, fat, etc.) but always older than me (any where from 1 year to 16). My type has always been the funny/fun guy. The one in the room that can make every body laugh. Good time Charlie. Problem with that is he usually has no ambition because he is…
  • I always order the chicken fajitas (eat half and take half home) and I have them hold the side plate (tortillas, cheese, sour cream, beans, etc.)
  • My mother is diabetic and a carb-a-holic also. Her nutritionist told her to use Dreamfields brand pasta (found at Kroger), so she can still enjoy her pasta without the big sugar spikes.
  • Congratulations!!! There is nothing like getting into clothes you haven't worn in years, huh?! I remember the first time I was able to get in a 16 jeans (after being in 20, 22, and 24s or years). I stood in Walmart and cried I was so happy. I am down 80 lbs and have about 40 more to go. Keep up the good work!!!! Yeah you,…
  • I am 10 lbs from onederland...I have flutuated back and forth between 201 and 210 for 6 weeks. It is making me crazy. I have lost 80 (or 70 depending on the day) since March of last year. My goal is another 40 more. Thank you for motivating me to stick with it and get in the "ones".
  • Yippee....another challenge. I so need this right now. Starting weight: 200 Goal weight: 170
