Posted: 9.20.14 Dennis - 19 Binge - 0 While I haven't had an actual bulimic binge in over 1 month, I still find myself eating carbs at night. Some nights are worst than others. This is really dragging me down. I beat restricting / purging / binging / obsessive exercise... but I cant seem to overcome unconscious / middle of…

I'll add one. Went to E.D. counseling today. The Psychologist gave me the option of ending therapy, but I said let's meet one more time in a month to make sure I dont have a relapse. So I'm happy my counselor is satisfied with progress. I've been eating healthy, and have used wisdom in planning running workouts.…

IMO - diets and restricting can be a reason some or most people binge, then it becomes a habit. I didnt begin binging until I had lost over 85 pounds, it began on days I would restrict. Then became more frequent as I got to nearly 100 pound weight loss. Even after I forcing myself to eat more and put weight back on,…

Its a battle - like how you call it a beast - I actually refer to it as my "Binge-Beast." Keep posting, we've all been there, or still are in the fight. Might be able to offer suggestions and recommend websites or books to help.

Ice Cream, Peanut Butter, and Chocolate Chip cookies all in the house this week and I havent binged. I ate 1 to 2 servings of peanut butter and quit. MUCH - MUCH stronger. But all I can say is Praise God! So MUCH better. 3 weeks and NO BINGE! I no longer obsessively think about food / calories / fat grams / restricting /…

Sounds very similar to my story - especially the diet of mostly veggies and oatmeal. I lost 100 pounds and also obsessively exercised and became bulimic. How I maintained? 1. Quit weighing. I was numbers driven and would starve, restrict or purge based on number on scales. 2. Started adding protein powders to oatmeal and I…

Thank you. Yes, ice cream is one of my biggest weaknesses. I had the one bowl Sunday, and over 3 days, my son ate the rest.I really feel convinced I got this binge thing whipped. I still have a lot of work to do in respect to eating normally however.

4 books I recommend that helped me greatly... 1. 8 Keys to Recovery from an Eating Disorder 2. Brain over Binge - Kathryn Hansen 3. Ditching Diets - Gillian Riley 4. The Rules of Normal Eating - Karen R. Koenig I downloaded Brain over Binge and Ditching Diets from Amazon to my wifes Kindle and had them read in 24 hours.…

Would agree with strategy to stop dieting, stop weighing, stop restricting. IMO, the binging starts out as the bodies response to dieting, but then becomes habitual. Even once all dieting / weighing / restricting activities are stopped, it still takes time to break the habit. To break the habit: you need to recognize the…

Thank you - for me the key has been: 1. Quit weighing 2. Quit restricting 3. Education - (Books = Brain over Binge, Ditching Diets, 8 Keys to Recovery) 4. Prayer I have overate, and I have put on some weight (I needed too anyhow). But I am stronger and healthier! And I would rather face having to lose a couple pounds than…
