  • My recommendation: You admit you are at a crisis point, seek some professional help - a doctor or eating disorder specialist. That is a great 1st step. I sought help, got into cognitive behavioral therapy and it helped greatly. My physician also prescribed medication (prozac is often prescribed for bulimia) which also…

  • I received some good news - I have 1 more follow-up appointment in 1 month for my eating disorder, and as long as I sustain my improvements made, I am done with counseling! :)

  • Assuming you meant 1400 a day? My recommendation, I think you should start by seeing your Doctor and talking to them. You might be referred to eating disorder specialist or nutritionist. The first step is admitting you have a problem. In order to properly address an eating disorder, you will need to stop restricting, stop…
  • I purchased Ditching Diets by Gillian Riley. HUGE HELP!

  • Two books that really shed light upon this for me were "Brain over Binge" by Kathryn Hansen and "Ditching Diets" by Gillian Riley. For me, the binging began as a matter of survival from extremely restrictive eating and then became habitual / addictive. These two books have taught me that I need to recognize the…
  • I've have quite a bit of bloodwork and tests done since I've began recovering from eating disorder. No issues with diabetes. It probably has quite a bit to do with being on prozac for the bulimia, and prozac is well known for causing insomnia.
  • Sorry I missed this post. I'm waking up to use restroom. I also had myself checked for infection and enlarged prostrate, but neither are causing frequent trips to restroom. It happens during the day also. And while at one time, I was very hungry due to restrictive diet, most of the time now its just a mindless binge for…

  • Many of us are there or have been there. I recommend reading "Brain Over Binge." The book has done me a lot of good. Deal with 1 problem at a time - the Binge-Beast might be where to start. It really is a tremendous amount of pressure to deal with binging, trying to lose weight, depression, personal issues etc all at the…

  • Today marks 7 days of no binging. I have chosen to overeat at times, I've chosen to eat a few foods that would not be considered healthy, but I have not binged according to the medical definition of binge eating. The absolute worst feeling in the world is the shame after a binge. I can deal with a couple extra pounds due…

  • Book to recommend based on what you say right here.... Brain over Binge. I am 4 or 5 days binge free wince finishing the book. I also quit smoking and lost over 90 pounds. But the weight loss and restriction triggered the binge behaviors, which started out as the body needing food, then became a habit, much like smoking…
