One more important thing with a 1200 cal diet: supplements. You definitely need a multi-vitamin, a 1000 of D3 a day, fish oil, and probably collagen supplements. I drink like 2 gallons of water a day too. :) I like to make up a pitcher of water with cucumber and lemon slices and some mint sprigs every night, and then maybe…

Key (for me) in sticking to this 1200 cal thing: 1.) aim for between 85 to 100+ grams of protein a day. Build your meals around that. If your protein isn't high enough at 1200 calories, you will start to lose muscle mass. 2.) Once you have all your protein in, get 20-25 grams of fiber in there to keep you full. 3.) Space…

Been doing it for about 80 days now. Once you get in a rhythm and figure out some snacks and meals you can have, it's easy peasy. Add me. I'll open my diary.

From Cherimoose: "This is good advice for runners. But most running shoes have a raised heel, which will likely perpetuate her problems while walking. Even shoes marketed as "walking shoes" tend to have a raised heel. Personally i'd start with a comfy pair of skateboard shoes, but if you go to a runners store, ask for a…

I have a lot of problems with pain and clicking in my ankles from prior injuries (I've broken both of my ankles more than once) and I've also got heels spurs and plantar fasciitis. I really like these two shoe brands for comfort: allbirds.com and kurufootwear.com. Also, are you walking on a treadmill or outdoors? That can…

Try Kudzu root pills. They worked well for me. They decrease alcohol cravings. You have one drink and say, "That was sufficient. I don't feel like having another."

Lavender oil mixed with almond oil all over the body!

Wanna here something kinda gross/weird? If you take Resveratrol supplements for aging (it's made from grape skins), and you eat asparagus, your pee smells like grape soda.

2 pounds a week is just about as fast as you can lose weight. But eat 1200 at least and exercise more. It will be more sustainable for you. Make sure you're supplementing with a multi-vitamin, vitamin D, and fish oil. Those will help keep you healthy and satiated.

I just don't buy that your basal metabolic rate is 1800 cal a day. That's HIGH. I'm 5'6"/160, 38 years old, and my basal metabolic rate at testing is just over 1400. I don't think your machine was calibrated correctly, and I question the advice of the person who tested you. Was the person a bariatrician or some other kind…

My doctor recommends 85+ grams of protein per day for women. I think if you're above that and staying away from sugar, you're golden. You're going to maintain your muscle mass on that and gain muscle over that.

A calorie ISN'T a calorie when it comes to alcohol. Alcohol makes your liver work hard to eliminate the stuff, meaning it's not working on the metabolic stuff it needs to in order for you to lose weight. It slows down your metabolism for days after you drink it. I still go out with friends a couple of times a week. I just…

Looking good!

Supplements, like a good multi-vitamin, will also help with cravings. Vitamin D and fish oil are also good things to take.

Eat real foods instead of shakes. Fiber intake is a huge part of feeling full, so you probably aren't getting enough with shakes. Space your meals out so you're eating 4 or 5 small meals (between 200-300 calories each) per day. You can have your final meal late in the day so that you don't get late night cravings. If…

I don't know if this has been discussed yet or not, but have you considered seeing a bariatrician? A doc that specializes in weight loss/control? It could be the breakthrough you're looking for. They can help by giving you guidance on what you should be eating for the best results, how to safely exercise, and they can also…

Contrary to what folks are saying, yes 1200 is enough for women with sedentary jobs. Especially women who are well into their 30s, like myself. Not sure of your age, but you don't look that old yet. :) Anyway, as long as you get 85 or more grams of protein in at 1200, it will be enough. Remember that you need protein to…

Sometimes a switch to a higher protein diet means a bit of constipation. Dry drinking a dieters tea with senna at nights before you go to bed. This will help.

It won't solve all your problems. You will have more people hitting on you and asking you out, but beware. Go for the folks who were hitting on you when you weighed more because those are the people that respect you for you. You'll have to find good ways to weed out the shallow trophy seekers. That's a new problem that you…

It can *seem* to some people that you can spot reduce fat, but that's only because of the way fat may be stored on your body. The first fat to go is always fat on our organs, followed by fat deposits in the actual muscle tissue, followed by subcutaneous fat. Additionally, people naturally have more or less muscle in…

Horseradish with a bit of light sour cream. Makes any steak a treat! I also love the Moroccan seasoning (spice aisle), and Japanese 7 spice (spice aisle). I make salad dressing with good quality balsamic vinegar, a little stevia, and some ginger and garlic paste. I make pad thai with shiritaki noodles (the 15 calorie/high…

Also, there are exercise machines other than treadmills you can use. If the treadmill bothers you, try an exercise bike until your fitness improves. I'd guess that an elliptical is probably going to give you the same trouble. If you try other machines, and they give you the same trouble, you need to see a doctor.
