  • Starting Weight: 318 lbs. (June 29th, 2014) Current Weight: 167 lbs. (August 23rd, 2015) Goal Weight: Winging It. My original goal weight was 165 lbs. but I think I'm going to have to go below that to some extent.
  • I used to chew gum when I felt hungry. I found it fooled my brain enough to buy me time until my next scheduled meal. Most gums are less than five calories, but maintain flavor for a good deal of time and can fill a craving. I eventually quit the gum altogether, but it's the only thing I can recommend.
  • There is no magic bullet. I have lost 151 lbs. since June of last year. I gave up most of my favorite foods and cut out snacks entirely. I know not everybody has the willpower to do that. I had all the willpower I needed because I promised my dying father that I would succeed in getting healthy. I would perhaps recommend…
  • I know that feel. I've lost nearly 150 lbs. and I'm still wearing the 5xl pants that I used to wear. I absolutely refuse to waste money on clothes until I reach the end of my journey. Well, for the most part. I bought new underwear and I bought some around-the-house pants that I can exercise in. But all of my shirts are…
  • I didn't mean it literally. I know you can't turn fat into muscle. I meant to build muscle and eventually lower my body fat. It's hard to lift without access to a gym or good equipment. All I have are three dumbbells at 15-20 lbs.
  • It's for my own personal use. I don't need a graph because I can read it as it is.
  • I've been logging my weights. You can see for yourself. I lost faster at first because I had more weight to lose. However, my results are fairly consistent. I've yet to have an up week. I've yet to have an even week. June 29th, 2014: 318 lbs. July 6th, 2014: 315 lbs. July 13th, 2014: 311 lbs. July 20th, 2014: 308 lbs. July…
  • I don't eat healthy. Healthier than I did when I started, but not by any of your standards. It's all about calories. You can lose weight eating whatever you like as long as you don't exceed your caloric allotment. Pretty much everything that I eat is processed and I lost 85 lbs. so far.
  • I'm not sure what words of support I could provide, but it is possible to lose this weight. I weighed 318 lbs. when my father was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in the middle of June. I made him a promise that I would improve my health as it was always his greatest concern. He died a few weeks later. It's been about six…
  • We're not going to have a traditional Thanksgiving this year. I would have liked to, but it's not my call. Still, I'm going to eat a seemingly endless amount of mashed potatoes. I am fully aware that it will be a ton of calories, and for the first time since I started my goals back in June I may actually gain weight over…
  • Figured I'd stop by this thread again. Time has been going by quickly. My walking slowed down in August until it eventually came to a stop. The summer heat was brutal. By the time the weather cooled, I was so out of habit that I simply stopped going on my walks altogether. Instead, I use an elliptical machine I purchased.…
  • Guess I should post an update. My father passed away on July 8th. That happened far quicker than it should have, but I suppose I always knew. It's why I went into "action mode" the moment I learned he was diagnosed. I've tried to continue my walking, but that hit a snag due to the funeral and the immediate grieving.…
