  • I think calories may be a bit off on this one. Just using MFP and adding the oats, flax, banans, raisins (1.5c has a huge amount of calories) and four eggs makes it about 90 calories per muffin assuming 24 servings. so 180+ for two. Maybe OP meant tablespoons?
  • BMF has a monthly subscription fee and fitbit does not. Plus, the fitbit is smaller and more easily hideable (although also easier to wash or drop in the toilet LOL).
  • No, it's designed to be worn 24/7. I think it overestimates a bit, but if not I guess I need more food LOL.
  • I JUST use what fitbit gives me and never log anything in manually. I'm always on the go, so I figure the little bump fitbit might give me for something silly will make up for the lack of calories counted in weight training. I 'net' BMR, which is roughly what the scooby numbers are for me after all the fitbit adjustments…
  • It tastes like cheese powder (I think it's yummy) and is used as a cheese sub for vegans and some brands are used as a b12 supp for vegans/vegetarians.
  • Good deal, but not stupendous. Notice they are tacking on $10 for shipping when normally they ship for free. With the 10 or 15% off coupons floating around I usually pay $47 for 24, these would be $39.
  • ROFL. I have a BMI of 21, and at my age (just turned 45 bleh) I am most like Cambodia??!! Eeep.
  • It's amazing, isn't it? I think back to all my 1500 calorie days and wow, I was probably 'netting' like 500 calories.. :noway:
  • it doesn't do well with weight workouts or mat workouts, but ya know what? I don't worry about it. I used to manually enter things like kettlebell workouts while using my HRM (MFP has numbers that are WAY too high for my height and weight) but now I just use the fitbit. It gives me credit for walking to the mailbox,…
  • Ok, I'll try. :) It's hard because I've been doing this for six weeks and am up over 2# on average. However, after wearing my fitbit I can see I've been undereating for YEARS. Even eating my calculated TDEE -15% (About 2K/2100), with the fitbit I am barely netting BMR most days (some days under), so I bump it up to TDEE on…
  • It will probably give me cancer or kill me somehow, but I lost 50 pounds while drinking GALLONS of diet soda, and although I drink less of it now have not gained a pound back after eight years. So no, it's not only fat people who drink diet soda. I never claim it's good for me, but it's honestly the only vice I have. :P
  • How about things like Tofu and Seitan? I am way over on protein macros, but I'm a vegetarian and eat a ton of egg whites (from my own chickens) and homemade greek yogurt. Oh, and vegan protein powder. You probably already know you can make your own seitan if you aren't a tofu person. :)
  • I sell chicken eggs from my free range chickens. =) You probably can't go wrong, as I assume the seller will pick the best looking eggs for sale. My chickens free range + get organic chicken feed and table scraps. And yes, you can boil them, although I usually boil my older eggs. You can also put the shell eggs in the oven…
  • These are the chunks I mean: http://www6.netrition.com/now_tsp.html Would be curious if anyone has made these edible. :P I love nutritional yeast! I use a few different seitan recipes and love the taste, it's the consistency I haven't gotten correct. I've boiled it, baked it, whatever.
  • Someone above mentioned seitan/tvp. Love seitan, although most of my homemade stuff isn't so good. yet. :P I got some tvp 'chunks' recently, thinking they would come out a bit like quorn 'chicken' when rehydrated - instead they came out like wet sponges. Eww. Any tips on fixing that appreciated - or are these just meant to…
  • I'm already at 2000 but my fitbit tells me I am dropping below BMR so I get to eat more!!! =) (been working carrying farm stuff all day)..
  • /agree! on foods.. I'd give up most commercial dairy if someone could just come up with a vegan greek yogurt that actually has protein. Most of the vegan yogurts have hardly any protein (1-2g) and the consistency is 'meh'. Even tried making it myself with my own organic soymilk (I have a maker and a big bag of beans I'll…
  • They are so much fun! (although I have a sick one right now, circling the drain.. that tends to make me sad... =().. As for 'labels', I don't care what folks call themselves. The ONLY reason that it kinda bugs me when someone eating fish calls themselves a vegetarian is at restaurants - seems all restaurants think…
  • I've been a vegetarian for five years now. I have my own pet free range chickens so I have LOTS of eggs! :)
  • My hubby and I have been married almost 20 years and we don't go in for the traditional gender roles. We've always lived a bit like roommates in this regard and it works for us. I cook for me, he cooks for him and occasionally either one of us will cook for both if there's something that we both like. If I go shopping I'll…
  • I buy mine from truenutrition.com. You can pick the mix + sweeteners. I use the basic vegan mix, natural chocolate banana (stevia). )
  • I'm 5'4, about 120, 44 years old. I clear 2K almost every day, sometimes more. =) So yup, eat up! My fitbit has me at a 2.5K average, yikes! (my step count, legit, is about 25K most days except work days, where it's about 13-15).
  • Heh, well, I did say I walk a LOT. My average steps are about 24,000. I can get as high as 30 on a very busy day and as low as 12-13 on a 'sedentary' day. I have a farm and work a few days a week as a nurse, but I do sit around a bit as well. :) I'm 'featherz' on the fitbit site if anyone wants to friend me over there. I'm…
  • My fitbit says I am WAY more active than any of the calculators estimate. I'm still trying to decide whether to believe it or not. My AVERAGE burn each day is over 2500 calories - sometimes 3K+. Yikes! (and I'm 44 years old and about 120 pounds). I do a lot of walking, but gave up most of the extreme cardio some time ago.
  • I do have a bit of a splurge day now, but very moderate. However, when I was 'dieting', I lost 50 pounds having a cheat day each and every week. And my calories during the week weren't crazy low (1500 or so), so it wasn't THAT restrictive. Still, it works for some, not for others. I was busy during the week and had more…
  • I'm a vegetarian and that lady was really rude, no matter what her diet was. My husband is omni and I hang out with people while they are eating meat and while I might tease them if I know them really well (like my husband), I don't talk about being veg unless asked. It's my choice. Health-wise, IMO meat is fine in…
  • Still finishing skyrim and bioshock 2. Takes me forever since I have limited gaming time these days! I have a wii (rarely used) and an xbox. I also play PC MMORPG (have played everquest, then WoW, currently playing Rift).
  • I'm a vegetarian and I eat way too much protein, probably a holdover from my 'bodybuilder wannabe' days. I have protein powder, a shake I really like and since I have chickens that lay a lot of eggs, there's egg whites wherever I can fit them. So I easily meet 40% protein pretty much every day, but you don't have to be as…
  • I'm a vegetarian (4 years) and I *love* quorn when I need a meat substitute. There's also seitan, which you can make yourself at home - much cheaper this way. I occasionally eat the soy stuff, but I switch it out with other things. I also use a vegan protein powder. I have pet chickens for eggs (and entertainment) so…
