May as well add my fitbit profile! https://www.fitbit.com/user/3R26DL I average about 10,000 steps a day, some days more and some days less of course. Wear it from when I get up to go to bed, so fairly active in terms of how much I use it. ;P
-
That would be based on projections of your activity level. If you are resting for the rest of the day it will start going down. It's normal and I may not have worded that correctly.

'ow's she go'in boys? Nova Scotian, looking to lose 182lbs, I've lost 31lbs so far. The holidays tripped me up a bit but I'm back at it. I just follow basic CICO and use a fitbit zip.
-
Yeah, I don't discuss it with them, so much as they see me logging or checking my fitbit and make comments. Thank you by the way. I'm 100% doing this for me and only me.
-
@Therealobi1 - Thank you! It's already going very well.
-
I bought a scale guys, saved up some money and got one at walmart. I know you're all very happy!
-
It feels like this advice was just really out of thin air! I would have NEVER thought of this!

@kae612 OHIP? I live in Halifax, NS. Most of the gyms I've seen and community centers are about 11-15$ for a day pass. I just did a deeper search and haven't found anything cheaper. Even the universities expect that sort of money to just get in for the day.
-
@preeJAY It is a great idea! I'm going to phone some places up and see if they have scales on display that one can test out. Ideally I need the weight to be consistent but if that isn't an option that's fine. @hi135 I don't mind the taxes as long as they actually go towards things that are useful.
-
@callsitlikeiseeit Thanks! I'm asking some friends right now.
-
Congratulations! You need to update your profile's ticker! :P

@callsitlikeiseeit And I use the free alternatives. My doctor's office is very busy so I get in when I can which is every 3-4 months. I measure myself monthly/bimonthly. None of the pharmacies have a weigh in sort of program (I phoned). I cannot afford the scale due to my income at the moment (though I would like to buy…
-
@Abby2205 I guess I should have explained that better. I'm low income. I live pay-check to pay-check and until I get some extra money coming in I cannot afford a scale that fits my needs (weighs up to a certain point, is of decent quality, etc.). Yes, even $20 is too much. I mention the Canadian bit because some people…
-
@ashliefisch Thank you! My office doesn't have that, they are very busy. That's a good idea about seeing people I haven't seen in a while, first I'll need to lose nearly 100lbs before that day though.
-
@Duchy82 Already doing it! Definitely works pretty well.
-
@rugratz2015 The pharmacists don't unfortunately, only blood pressure checks. My doctors office is incredibly busy and requires a book in to get in.
-
@preeJAY Thanks! Where I'm at now, it's easy enough to be able to lose the weight and I'm no where near maintaining. Clothing fit is probably a good indicator!
-
@sscarmack & @DeguelloTex & @DemoraFairy I can't afford to go to the gym at the moment or buy a scale. Unfortunately, as a Canadian with high taxes, I need to spend a fair bit on a scale that can read over 300+lbs.
-
Thanks folks! I did a bit of digging after reading this and you're right. I'd need to either be drinking all this water at once or drinking over 16L's a day.

Hey, I am just going to agree with everyone on here about the gender thing and MFP lacking in it's options. I chose male because I was starting HRT and luckily weight loss has been working (minus personal downfalls). Anyway! I have always been overweight, so for me it was REALLY hard to lose the weight and look good.…

I find I have this problem as well, and more people have this problem than they care to admit. I know people not struggling with their weight that still eat when they are upset, or bored. I'm not saying it's right, but it's definitely something that many of us struggle with so you're not alone. Food is something we all…

Finally feeling good today after a few months of funk! Whoo! Got a bunch of housework done today, and cut my hair (the spring shearing). Maybe spring will happen soon in Canada.
-
Hey, mostly gay guy here from Canada. Started at 358lbs and slowly working it down.
-
I'm sure I could rock a skirt but probably wont in public unless for a drag event or something, maybe a kilt is in order. I may need to try ebay or amazon, of even just kijiji. It's difficult when you're a Canadian to find decent cheap clothes. You Americans definitely have it easier.
-
Looking at what's available in my community and it looks like I may need to hunt for stuff online. Yay Canada... Does anyone know any good websites for cheap mens clothing?
-
Awesome job! Walking up mountains is not easy... at least when it's done it isn't as bad going down. I like the sock idea, I may just try that.

Breaded and fried scallops and haddock, with creamed potatoes, corn, and carrots. It was so buttery and rich and my dad made it the best.
-
You're right on the working up, I have been for a while. Sunday was my first long slow trek. I usually carry water and coconut water for my long walks. I have bunions so it's less my shoes and more my feet being a problem and will be putting band-aids on them this time. Happy walking!
-
@SnuggleSmacks Thank you! Those look relatively easy to do!
-
@aggelikik You make a good point. I am not currently trying anything yet, I most work out other areas that don't cause a lot of pain. I don't add weights to any of my exercises (other than backpacking here and there). My regular doctor, my endocrinologist, and her assistant have all suggested that I start lifting weights.
